Check for the vmx flag in the cpu flags in the dmesg on the host. That T9400 should have the capability enabled on the chip, but if your motherboard does not have it enabled in the bios, then the special sauce won't be available to VirtualBox. My experience is that *BSD systems don't like running in VirtualBox without HW Virtualization features and tend to crash. -- Joe Kowalski From owner-freebsd-emulation@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Apr 5 16:37:08 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 85B0D8FF for ; Fri, 5 Apr 2013 16:37:08 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from zaphod@berentweb.com) Received: from sam.nabble.com (sam.nabble.com [216.139.236.26]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6D095238 for ; Fri, 5 Apr 2013 16:37:08 +0000 (UTC) Received: from [192.168.236.26] (helo=sam.nabble.com) by sam.nabble.com with esmtp (Exim 4.72) (envelope-from ) id 1UO9dU-0007N7-0G for freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org; Fri, 05 Apr 2013 09:37:08 -0700 Date: Fri, 5 Apr 2013 09:37:08 -0700 (PDT) From: Beeblebrox To: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org Message-ID: <1365179827998-5801797.post@n5.nabble.com> Subject: qemu-system-x86_64 refuses to boot HDD MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-BeenThere: freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.14 Precedence: list List-Id: Development of Emulators of other operating systems List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 05 Apr 2013 16:37:08 -0000 I have installed qemu-devel-1.1.1_2 and kqemu-kmod-devel-1.4.0.p1_5 In the past I could boot from the HDD with qemu even if it was running host system - ada0p2 is root, but I could still boot to ada0 in qemu.
