The latter requires some adjustments before it can land (in 25.0). Can you address them here or in bug 893397? https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=893397 Also, try firefox-nightly in gecko repo if you want to test mozilla trunk. The patch in question is already integrated as files/patch-bug893397 and going to land in the ports tree with the next firefox update. $ svn co https://trillian.chruetertee.ch/svn/freebsd-gecko/trunk gecko $ cp gecko/Mk/bsd.gecko.mk /usr/ports/Mk/ $ cd gecko/www/firefox-nightly $ make install -- /me cautious because I have no wifi card and still trying to figure how to spoof one in order to test this From owner-freebsd-gecko@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Jul 17 10:08:16 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: gecko@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3E3BF6E6 for ; Wed, 17 Jul 2013 10:08:16 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from omars1234@gmail.com) Received: from mail-pb0-x235.google.com (mail-pb0-x235.google.com [IPv6:2607:f8b0:400e:c01::235]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 20FEA6CB for ; Wed, 17 Jul 2013 10:08:16 +0000 (UTC) Received: by mail-pb0-f53.google.com with SMTP id xb12so1739867pbc.12 for ; Wed, 17 Jul 2013 03:08:16 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20120113; h=mime-version:date:message-id:subject:from:to:content-type; bh=DZQGPajSJNylIISHRq+QP5b0p7+isArmXQKBqmZ4RzQ=; b=Oi3SUsI/6d2gdSpLgGmrxJaOgfOjDqd0vyCDg+LLF72hZbKH4DEoWrLXtaq9MJ0gs8 NnTSaTPVO4vX4x0+Zg/rlKBuWdOZCxMVbUfJPluiJCTXW2xgtRYmKXolEZ2yDNCSTmU7 IxZUoq+aXFvlljE1rUhjfV2fKJfTGoTl6eaD6dk4mUJDZ8Zg7+JX3LMcULYkGrNcdvXL lWw4HfBsi4T9aJXUmr49JiCGPOhRDWnjavu4iMSPlzSfCTAk1ExeDAq/sGsYQN8bH/lA g8YtgVyuu6hhsI8BGOivK7wnVnsfYY/r8+9eii1ujBqHlw4yAQDPosBjI6fhs4yb7gdv XXqA== MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Received: by 10.66.219.170 with SMTP id pp10mr7145045pac.119.1374055695884; Wed, 17 Jul 2013 03:08:15 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.66.159.193 with HTTP; Wed, 17 Jul 2013 03:08:15 -0700 (PDT) Date: Wed, 17 Jul 2013 06:08:15 -0400 Message-ID: Subject: coredumps with firefox port on 8.4-RELEASE From: omar To: gecko@FreeBSD.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.14 X-BeenThere: freebsd-gecko@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.14 Precedence: list List-Id: Gecko Rendering Engine issues List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 17 Jul 2013 10:08:16 -0000 Hi. I'm having trouble with the firefox 22 port on 8.4-release amd64. Sound (specifically in embedded HTML5 youtube vid) is causing firefox to coredump with this error: Assertion failed: (wrote >= 0 && wrote == got), function alsa_refill_stream, file /usr/ports/www/firefox/work/mozilla-release/media/libcubeb/src/cubeb_alsa.c, line 319. I've tried rebuilding with various options enabled or disabled. Only switching from Alsa to pulseaudio makes this error not show up. I was using OSS before ff22. Also, "Optimized CFLAGS" now causes firefox to coredump w/o any output or windows, happening since ff21 (same result on FreeBSD 8.2 and 8.3, also tried rebuilding full ports tree on those systems). I had the "Optimized CFLAGS" option enabled without problems on the several prior firefox port releases. OS: > uname -a FreeBSD mine.heedme.com 8.4-RELEASE FreeBSD 8.4-RELEASE #1: Sat Jul 13 01:39:21 EDT 2013 root@mine.heedme.com:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/MINE amd64 Ports tree is up to date. Rebuilt/tested on a fresh install with all ports rebuilt. I've been running many firefox releases via ports on multiple versions of FreeBSD. I haven't had this sort of instability since back around ff10 or 11, until 21/22. -omar siddique From owner-freebsd-gecko@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Jul 17 11:32:10 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-gecko@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 26910C09 for ; Wed, 17 Jul 2013 11:32:10 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from svn-freebsd-gecko@chruetertee.ch) Received: from trillian.chruetertee.ch (trillian.chruetertee.ch [217.150.245.56]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B59CCA78 for ; Wed, 17 Jul 2013 11:32:09 +0000 (UTC) Received: from trillian.chruetertee.ch (trillian [217.150.245.56]) by trillian.chruetertee.ch (8.14.4/8.14.3) with ESMTP id r6HBW8aX055892 for ; Wed, 17 Jul 2013 11:32:08 GMT (envelope-from svn-freebsd-gecko@chruetertee.ch) Received: (from www@localhost) by trillian.chruetertee.ch (8.14.4/8.14.3/Submit) id r6HBW3L7055729 for freebsd-gecko@freebsd.org; Wed, 17 Jul 2013 11:32:03 GMT (envelope-from svn-freebsd-gecko@chruetertee.ch) Date: Wed, 17 Jul 2013 11:32:03 GMT Message-Id: <201307171132.r6HBW3L7055729@trillian.chruetertee.ch> X-Authentication-Warning: trillian.chruetertee.ch: www set sender to svn-freebsd-gecko@chruetertee.ch using -f From: svn-freebsd-gecko@chruetertee.ch To: freebsd-gecko@freebsd.org Subject: [SVN-Commit] r1283 - trunk MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-BeenThere: freebsd-gecko@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.14 Precedence: list Reply-To: freebsd-gecko@freebsd.org List-Id: Gecko Rendering Engine issues List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 17 Jul 2013 11:32:10 -0000 Author: jbeich Date: Wed Jul 17 11:32:03 2013 New Revision: 1283 Log: import alsa warning Added: trunk/Gecko_UPDATING Added: trunk/Gecko_UPDATING ============================================================================== --- /dev/null 00:00:00 1970 (empty, because file is newly added) +++ trunk/Gecko_UPDATING Wed Jul 17 11:32:03 2013 (r1283) @@ -0,0 +1,8 @@ +20121010: + AFFECTS: users of www/firefox and www/seamonkey + AUTHOR: gecko@FreeBSD.org + + When using Firefox or SeaMonkey compiled with ALSA option ON it may + crash on assert in cubeb_refill_stream as described in ports/170473. + To fix either set media.use_cubeb -> false in about:config or rebuild + audio/alsa-plugins with ARIFF_OSS option disabled (default).
