Often, this is due to a better alternative having become available and/or the cessation of development on the existing port. In some cases, ports are marked for removal because they fail to build and install correctly from their sources, or otherwise fail in operation. The ports, and the reason and date that they have been scheduled for removal, are listed below. If no one has stepped forward before that time to propose a way to fix the problems (such as via a PR), the ports will be deleted. portname: textproc/linux-aspell description: Spelling checker with better logic than ispell (linux version) maintainer: office@FreeBSD.org deprecated because: expiration date: 2013-02-28 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=textproc&portname=linux-aspell If this problem is one that you are already aware of, please accept our apologies and ignore this message. On the other hand, if you no longer wish to maintain this port (or ports), please reply with a message stating that, and accept our thanks for your efforts in the past. Thanks for your efforts to help improve FreeBSD. The maintainers shouldn't be use BROKEN if one of option is broke. They are supposed to disable or/and remove that option instead. I have checked in there and it has two BROKEN in two options that need to be removed. At this point, I can confidently say LibreOffice doesn't play nice with FreeBSD rtld(1). Especially, mergelibs feature seems broken ATM. What I see from the backtrace of PR176269 is that GOT is not properly initialized before calling a libX11 function XFree(3) somehow. Maybe dlopen(3) and friends are not used properly somewhere. Can anyone try setting LD_BIND_NOW environment variable, start LO, and tell me what happens? From: Carlos Jacobo Puga Medina To: bug-followup@FreeBSD.org, understudy@understudy.net Cc: Subject: ports/176967: editors/libreoffice crashes Date: Sat, 23 Mar 2013 17:02:27 +0100 --bcaec54ee014bf4d2704d899b27f Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Finally, I solved this issue just by modifying /usr/ports/editors/libreoffice/Makefile to build with debug symbols (enabled DEBUG option) as following: .if ${PORT_OPTIONS:MDEBUG} #IGNORE= known as broken CONFIGURE_ARGS+= --enable-debug \ # --enable-dbgutil \ # --enable-verbose \ # --enable-crashdump .else Builded with Clang on FreeBSD-9.1/i386. I detect LO still running after close it, so is necessary kill(1) process 'ossplash --writer' to free memory. % ps x | grep libreoffice 58379 v0 I 0:00,84 /usr/local/lib/libreoffice/program/oosplash --writer 58390 v0 S 0:08,22 /usr/local/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin --writer 58393 0 S+ 0:00,00 grep libreoffice --bcaec54ee014bf4d2704d899b27f Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
Finally, I solved this issue just by modifying /usr/ports/editors/libr= eoffice/Makefile to build with debug symbols (enabled DEBUG option) as foll= owing:

.if ${PORT_OPTIONS:MDEBUG}
#IGNOR= E=3D =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0known as broken
CONFIGURE_ARGS+=3D =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0--enable-debug \
# =A0 =A0= =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 --enable-dbgutil \

# =A0 =A0= =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 --enable-crashdump
.else

Builded with Clang on FreeBSD-9.1/i386. I detect LO sti= ll running after close it, so is necessary kill(1) process 'ossplash --= writer' to free memory.
