IMHO it is not the right thing to work around the bug in upstream but it is legal to do in the port. I think this is exactly what port pathes are for -- to workaround the problem until it is not fixed upstream. Taking into consideration that there is no any solution for Danga::Socket provided so far (even as a patch) and there is an issue with the repository, it may take some time while the problem is fixed upstream and it would be very good to workaround it in our port meantime. If you don't like very much the idea to patch p5-MogileFS-Server we can use another workaround, mentioned in the initial message: modify mogstored rc.d script to start mogstored in foreground and use daemon(8) to daemonize it. If you like this solution more I can provide a patch. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=171691 From owner-freebsd-perl@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Jan 15 11:44:09 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: perl@smarthost.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CB07C6B1; Tue, 15 Jan 2013 11:44:09 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tobez@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206c::16:87]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BCD51FC3; Tue, 15 Jan 2013 11:44:09 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.6/8.14.6) with ESMTP id r0FBi9sJ090253; Tue, 15 Jan 2013 11:44:09 GMT (envelope-from tobez@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from tobez@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.6/8.14.6/Submit) id r0FBi99m090249; Tue, 15 Jan 2013 12:44:09 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from tobez) Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2013 12:44:09 +0100 (CET) Message-Id: <201301151144.r0FBi99m090249@freefall.freebsd.org> To: trociny@FreeBSD.org, tobez@FreeBSD.org, perl@FreeBSD.org From: tobez@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: ports/171691: sysutils/p5-MogileFS-Server: issues with daemons startup X-BeenThere: freebsd-perl@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.14 Precedence: list List-Id: maintainer of a number of perl-related ports List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2013 11:44:09 -0000 Synopsis: sysutils/p5-MogileFS-Server: issues with daemons startup State-Changed-From-To: open->feedback State-Changed-By: tobez State-Changed-When: Tue Jan 15 12:39:17 CET 2013 State-Changed-Why: > If you don't like very much the idea to patch p5-MogileFS-Server > we can use another workaround, mentioned in the initial message No, not at all. I was simply trying to get more understanding of the problem and possible solutions. I agree with patching MogileFS-Server and I think that you should just go ahead and commit the patch. Moreover, I think it would be for the best if you take over as a maintainer of the module, since you obviously know it well, you are actually using it, you are a committer, and you already maintain "adjacent" modules such as sysutils/p5-MogileFS-Network. \Anton. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=171691 From owner-freebsd-perl@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Jan 15 12:16:33 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: perl@smarthost.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.FreeBSD.org [8.8.178.115]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5F86D34C; Tue, 15 Jan 2013 12:16:33 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tobez@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206c::16:87]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3CB17245; Tue, 15 Jan 2013 12:16:33 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.6/8.14.6) with ESMTP id r0FCGXcq096634; Tue, 15 Jan 2013 12:16:33 GMT (envelope-from tobez@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from tobez@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.6/8.14.6/Submit) id r0FCGTE3096630; Tue, 15 Jan 2013 13:16:29 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from tobez) Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2013 13:16:29 +0100 (CET) Message-Id: <201301151216.r0FCGTE3096630@freefall.freebsd.org> To: linpc@cs.nctu.edu.tw, tobez@FreeBSD.org, perl@FreeBSD.org From: tobez@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: ports/174874: [PATCH] devel/p5-Inline-CPP: update to 0.42 X-BeenThere: freebsd-perl@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.14 Precedence: list List-Id: maintainer of a number of perl-related ports List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 15 Jan 2013 12:16:33 -0000 Synopsis: [PATCH] devel/p5-Inline-CPP: update to 0.42 State-Changed-From-To: open->closed State-Changed-By: tobez State-Changed-When: Tue Jan 15 13:16:29 CET 2013 State-Changed-Why: The update has been committed. The last time i did a makeworld/kernel i used a m1.large instance, since then i switched to a t1.micro, which appears to use a different CPU. Going back to m1.large fixes the compiler error. Sorry for the noise.
