Unfortunately, Newcons has nothing to do with Haswell support. kib@ has started to update our Intel driver but this won't be available in 10.0-RELEASE. --=20 Jean-S=E9bastien P=E9dron --pIwRpQ5Eh0rguE0KqCbBurUdVn418iB7G Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (FreeBSD) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iEYEARECAAYFAlK3U9QACgkQa+xGJsFYOlM0BwCg0pahtK5vwSbi8imRTbp8hs4s njAAoJWVxKgpVnZswVgeh2Ljc3wXzKGY =185b -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --pIwRpQ5Eh0rguE0KqCbBurUdVn418iB7G-- From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 23 04:21:07 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@smarthost.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id EE9C9FB; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 04:21:07 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206c::16:87]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id C376B14F8; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 04:21:07 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.7/8.14.7) with ESMTP id rBN4L7eH029727; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 04:21:07 GMT (envelope-from edwin@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from edwin@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.7/8.14.7/Submit) id rBN4L7CZ029726; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 04:21:07 GMT (envelope-from edwin) Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2013 04:21:07 GMT Message-Id: <201312230421.rBN4L7CZ029726@freefall.freebsd.org> To: edwin@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-ports-bugs@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.org From: edwin@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: ports/184957: [patch] fid graphics/dri, graphics/libdrm for powerpc X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.17 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2013 04:21:08 -0000 Synopsis: [patch] fid graphics/dri, graphics/libdrm for powerpc Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-ports-bugs->freebsd-x11 Responsible-Changed-By: edwin Responsible-Changed-When: Mon Dec 23 04:21:07 UTC 2013 Responsible-Changed-Why: Over to maintainer (via the GNATS Auto Assign Tool) http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=184957 From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 23 10:25:18 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 2C20FC52 for ; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 10:25:18 +0000 (UTC) Received: from portscout.freebsd.org (portscout.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:6]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 182641EE4 for ; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 10:25:18 +0000 (UTC) Received: from portscout.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.123]) by portscout.freebsd.org (8.14.7/8.14.7) with ESMTP id rBNAPHHh072706 for ; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 10:25:17 GMT (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from portscout@localhost) by portscout.freebsd.org (8.14.7/8.14.7/Submit) id rBNAPH6Q072702; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 10:25:17 GMT (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Message-Id: <201312231025.rBNAPH6Q072702@portscout.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: portscout.freebsd.org: portscout set sender to portscout@FreeBSD.org using -f Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Content-Type: text/plain MIME-Version: 1.0 Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2013 10:25:17 +0000 From: portscout@FreeBSD.org To: x11@freebsd.org Subject: FreeBSD ports you maintain which are out of date X-Mailer: portscout/0.8.1 X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.17 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2013 10:25:18 -0000 Dear port maintainer, The portscout new distfile checker has detected that one or more of your ports appears to be out of date. That isn't due to newcons AFAIK. I don't think that setup worked with syscons either. I think it could probably never have worked with syscons, but it should in theory be fixable with newcons. -- John Baldwin From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 23 19:44:16 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 0340C92C; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 19:44:16 +0000 (UTC) Received: from bigwig.baldwin.cx (bigwig.baldwin.cx [IPv6:2001:470:1f11:75::1]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-CAMELLIA256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id CC134192F; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 19:44:15 +0000 (UTC) Received: from jhbbsd.localnet (unknown [209.249.190.124]) by bigwig.baldwin.cx (Postfix) with ESMTPSA id DBB66B968; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 14:44:14 -0500 (EST) From: John Baldwin To: freebsd-current@freebsd.org Subject: Re: [HEADS UP] xorg version switch in CURRENT Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2013 11:59:44 -0500 User-Agent: KMail/1.13.5 (FreeBSD/8.4-CBSD-20130906; KDE/4.5.5; amd64; ; ) References: <52AEE215.1060806@freebsd.org> <20131217200756.GA46033@troutmask.apl.washington.edu> In-Reply-To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Message-Id: <201312231159.44394.jhb@freebsd.org> X-Greylist: Sender succeeded SMTP AUTH, not delayed by milter-greylist-4.2.7 (bigwig.baldwin.cx); Mon, 23 Dec 2013 14:44:15 -0500 (EST) Cc: ports@freebsd.org, Adrian Chadd , x11@freebsd.org, current@freebsd.org, Steve Kargl X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.17 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 23 Dec 2013 19:44:16 -0000 On Tuesday, December 17, 2013 3:15:33 pm Adrian Chadd wrote: > I'm rapidly wondering if building this way should become unsupported. Radeon does, but those could be statically compiled in for people who want this. The drivers should be fixed. They never worked with syscons because syscons didn't work once KMS was enabled, but they should be able to work with newcons. -- John Baldwin From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Dec 24 01:43:44 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 2B9B0AF2 for ; Tue, 24 Dec 2013 01:43:44 +0000 (UTC) Received: from mail-ig0-f177.google.com (mail-ig0-f177.google.com [209.85.213.177]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-RC4-SHA (128/128 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id E82FC113B for ; Tue, 24 Dec 2013 01:43:43 +0000 (UTC) Received: by mail-ig0-f177.google.com with SMTP id uy17so14617851igb.4 for ; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 17:43:37 -0800 (PST) X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20130820; h=x-gm-message-state:mime-version:in-reply-to:references:from:date :message-id:subject:to:cc:content-type; bh=q09mJ7JDNFvWS6tsGW1YFxqTP22ezQ0Ki/kBvrABVI8=; b=mepAM88d16lBBcrU5kBata0vjsyx7gCiHdAmypfMvBfpN2N9G875XOfrtWIaosoSpF hsLnYuWIemW3oyF5OglX1xxImEIMYTCFfcVZ3R1b+0lwkZ24ELgFx9RO1Nohk/RSIZSb ltguQkqeyqoamIOfCtBATaOrUlCXOIhyvSEKjeuRETxk62GnrX6flMZpTray5Zze4RaK AMWEspS1XA0f2Lr3nC2AF7//KtmSh8x1v4o0rMwAfISiQk89YmYBk6hOZsfMl6CEdmX9 gZYc7qqGjMtfB4tsMXmwnYN/6VbhVmcvd7aQ0nUHlt+bnHZa13G61lRgIbbabEFwdyWE s9jA== X-Gm-Message-State: ALoCoQn2K3iGqsKs6sHzwRE9lXN62+cCCLZKoJ/2B81JxbMi57Ly2WioERSWMY/2UZYuOk9oshTIcX0kuH/Hr9CiLEOF9i+I9QDGhjOo1IilYuwfBlS9TD8= X-Received: by 10.42.251.69 with SMTP id mr5mr7631575icb.42.1387848994234; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 17:36:34 -0800 (PST) MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.42.128.200 with HTTP; Mon, 23 Dec 2013 17:36:19 -0800 (PST) In-Reply-To: <52B753CD.4090207@dumbbell.fr> References: <52B60147.9070505@dumbbell.fr> <52B6DFE0.6080705@reynoldsnet.org> <52B753CD.4090207@dumbbell.fr> From: "Lundberg, Johannes" Date: Tue, 24 Dec 2013 10:36:19 +0900 Message-ID: Subject: Re: Black screen with Vesa on Dell Intel graphics amd64 To: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?Jean=2DS=E9bastien_P=E9dron?= Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.17 Cc: "freebsd-x11@freebsd.org" X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.17 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 24 Dec 2013 01:43:44 -0000 Hi Thanks for the feedback. With Intel driver X doesn't start at all. I can look into this more later but for now Vesa will do fine for my needs. The thing is, the screen is just black with the Vesa driver and I can't return to console. The window manager and X seems to be running fine if I log in with ssh and run "top". The almost exact same setup but freebsd10-i386 and Intel HD4000, not freebsd10-amd64 and Intel HD2000, works fine with Vesa driver. Is there some problem with running X with amd64 compared to i386 version that I should be aware of? By the way, both machines are 64 bit hardware but I need to run freebsd-amd64 on one of them. Otherwise I would choose freebsd-i386 which seems to be more stable running X. -- Johannes Lundberg BRILLIANTSERVICE CO., LTD. Can you try (from ssh) to run components one by one, for instance: 1. from one shell, start "Xorg" 2. from another shell, run "DISPLAY=3D:0 xterm" And see if something show up? > The almost exact same setup but freebsd10-i386 and Intel HD4000, not > freebsd10-amd64 and Intel HD2000, works fine with Vesa driver. >=20 > Is there some problem with running X with amd64 compared to i386 versio= n > that I should be aware of? I'm not aware of any problems with X.Org+amd64 which never occur on i386. --=20 Jean-S=C3=A9bastien P=C3=A9dron --QFqbnNPdxq9RRvVBcHgHhhRKQOGSjsmEj Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (FreeBSD) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iEYEARECAAYFAlK5VFcACgkQa+xGJsFYOlPLnQCfc0oBXEn/uLQg96rAPq6Npver Tf4AoJMUIySkZhhRHaaZ2bZGR6JVI4+a =VjD6 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --QFqbnNPdxq9RRvVBcHgHhhRKQOGSjsmEj-- From owner-freebsd-x11@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Dec 27 11:43:35 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: x11@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 2A4CEB02 for ; Fri, 27 Dec 2013 11:43:35 +0000 (UTC) Received: from mp1-smtp-6.eutelia.it (mp1-smtp-6.eutelia.it [62.94.10.166]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D315F18D3 for ; Fri, 27 Dec 2013 11:43:34 +0000 (UTC) Received: from ns2.biolchim.it (ip-188-188.sn2.eutelia.it [83.211.188.188]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mp1-smtp-6.eutelia.it (Eutelia) with ESMTP id 6D4826B4483 for ; Fri, 27 Dec 2013 12:18:05 +0100 (CET) Received: from soth.ventu (adsl-ull-185-246.41-151.net24.it [151.41.246.185]) (authenticated bits=0) by ns2.biolchim.it (8.14.7/8.14.7) with ESMTP id rBRBI059054910 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=FAIL) for ; Fri, 27 Dec 2013 12:18:01 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from ml@netfence.it) X-Authentication-Warning: ns2.biolchim.it: Host adsl-ull-185-246.41-151.net24.it [151.41.246.185] claimed to be soth.ventu Received: from alamar.ventu (alamar.ventu [10.1.2.18]) by soth.ventu (8.14.7/8.14.7) with ESMTP id rBRBHs7V055427 for ; Fri, 27 Dec 2013 12:17:54 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from ml@netfence.it) Message-ID: <52BD61E2.8030701@netfence.it> Date: Fri, 27 Dec 2013 12:17:54 +0100 From: Andrea Venturoli User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; FreeBSD i386; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/24.2.0 MIME-Version: 1.0 To: x11@FreeBSD.org Subject: Cannot install xorg-server Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Greylist: Sender succeeded SMTP AUTH, not delayed by milter-greylist-4.4.3 (ns2.biolchim.it [192.168.2.203]); Fri, 27 Dec 2013 12:18:01 +0100 (CET) X-Spam-Score: 5.177 (*****) BAYES_00, RCVD_IN_BRBL_LASTEXT, RCVD_IN_PBL, RCVD_IN_RP_RNBL, RCVD_IN_SORBS_DUL, RDNS_DYNAMIC X-Scanned-By: MIMEDefang 2.74 X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.17 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 27 Dec 2013 11:43:35 -0000 Hello. Please update fontconfig to 2.11.0_1 which should fix this problem. If it still broken let us know. Btw NO_STAGE=yes is not a variable to set in /etc/make.conf, it should _only_ be set in the ports that are not yet converted to support stage.
