Hmm, the installer for FreeBSD/{amd64,i386} is supposed to do this automatically. We used to set this in the PMBR by default for all GPT setups, but that isn't really correct for the GPT standard and needs to not be present when using EFI. The solution was supposed to be that we would stop setting it in the PMBR by default and change the installer to set this bit when doing a non-EFI GPT install on x86. I think the first part of that (not setting active by default) happened in 10, but not the second part (fix the installer for non-EFI GPT installs on x86). I've cc'd some folks who've worked on bsdinstall who can hopefully get this fixed. -- John Baldwin From owner-freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Jan 29 22:30:01 2014 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@smarthost.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 71013CFE for ; Wed, 29 Jan 2014 22:30:01 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206c::16:87]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 49D311D5D for ; Wed, 29 Jan 2014 22:30:01 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.7/8.14.7) with ESMTP id s0TMU1sZ081606 for ; Wed, 29 Jan 2014 22:30:01 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.7/8.14.7/Submit) id s0TMU1jH081605; Wed, 29 Jan 2014 22:30:01 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Resent-Date: Wed, 29 Jan 2014 22:30:01 GMT Resent-Message-Id: <201401292230.s0TMU1jH081605@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, Mitja Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 98A77C78 for ; Wed, 29 Jan 2014 22:27:29 +0000 (UTC) Received: from oldred.freebsd.org (oldred.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:4]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 6A45E1D3C for ; Wed, 29 Jan 2014 22:27:29 +0000 (UTC) Received: from oldred.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.6]) by oldred.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.7) with ESMTP id s0TMRTfC022443 for ; Wed, 29 Jan 2014 22:27:29 GMT (envelope-from nobody@oldred.freebsd.org) Received: (from nobody@localhost) by oldred.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.5/Submit) id s0TMRTMN022430; Wed, 29 Jan 2014 22:27:29 GMT (envelope-from nobody) Message-Id: <201401292227.s0TMRTMN022430@oldred.freebsd.org> Date: Wed, 29 Jan 2014 22:27:29 GMT From: Mitja To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org X-Send-Pr-Version: www-3.1 Subject: amd64/186259: Port math/sage cannot build on FreeBSD 10.0 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Wed, 29 Jan 2014 22:43:14 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.17 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 29 Jan 2014 22:30:01 -0000 >Number: 186259 >Category: amd64 >Synopsis: Port math/sage cannot build on FreeBSD 10.0 >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-amd64 >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: sw-bug >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Wed Jan 29 22:30:01 UTC 2014 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: Mitja >Release: FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE >Organization: >Environment: FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE #1: Mon Jan 20 12:44:17 EST 2014 root@bla.bla.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64 >Description: I cannot build port math/sage from FreeBSD-10.0 ALPHA to FreeBSD-10.0-RELEASE now and on the all betas and releases between. ===>>> Starting build for math/sage <<<=== ===>>> All dependencies are up to date ===> Cleaning for sage-math-5.13 ===> Found saved configuration for sage-math-5.13 ===> sage-math-5.13 depends on file: /usr/local/sbin/pkg - found ===> Fetching all distfiles required by sage-math-5.13 for building ===> Extracting for sage-math-5.13 => SHA256 Checksum OK for sage-5.13.tar. ===> Patching for sage-math-5.13 Patching cephes-2.8.p1: applying spkg-install Hmm...
