The last time someone asked (in 2013), there was no clear answer on whether this system could run FreeBSD. Anyone know more now? It has a Celeron 847, 2G of RAM (and two SODIMM sockets), and a normal SATA port. I'm aware that the firmware needs to be updated/modified to include SeaBIOS. If off site time permits: Prepare a modified boot USB stick, (with boot set to verbose) + with an X11 tree etc, & a pre written script that quickly copies /var/log to stick then does hardware probes inc X -configure, & logs all back to the stick & unmounts to take away. I used to have all that except the script but & with a mass of port I use, but such large images constantly go obsolete with new releases, & ports are personal choice. I guess it's a similar requirement lots of us have periodicaly at suprise short notice: a quick opportunity for hands on for 2/3 mins, then 24 hours to think, then a decision to make :-) Maybe FreeBSD should include a probe script on FreeBSD USB images. However, we couldn't include the X & windom managers & selection of ports on the images, (unbearable bloat, & endless discussion of which ports), so we'd just have to allow for an extra empty FS on stick..
