--- Comment #5 from Kubilay Kocak <koobs@FreeBSD.org> ---
Thanks Yuri!

A couple of things:

Patch:

- Sort USE_PYTHON values alphabetically

Bug Reporting:

- No need to bracket [cat/port] in issue summaries
- No need for full bug URL's in comments. "Bug #XXXX" will automatically link
- Please add dependent/blocking ID's in the "Depends On" or "Blocks" fields
respectively, otherwise they may be forgotten/missed.

--- Comment #8 from Kubilay Kocak <koobs@FreeBSD.org> ---
John, just to clarify, you reproduced the issue with the upstream patch or
without?

If without, I can try to provide a back-ported patch if it would be helpful to
you.

In the short-term, and until we figure this out (root-cause and fix), I don't
mind approving the MAKE_JOBS_UNSAFE=yes change once above question is clarified

--- Comment #9 from John Marino <marino@FreeBSD.org> ---
I could not make a patch. The difference between trunk and version 2.7 is
extreme.

Thus, I did not add the patch.

My only point is that I am hitting this regularly now and it broke 9500 ports
from the last build, so the impact of not setting this jobs unsafe is severe --
one of the most severe in the tree.

I think all affected python should be set to -j1 asap.

P.S. I don't know what changed with python to make this happen now. I don't
recall this ever happening before. It must be a recent addition to all
branches.

--- Comment #10 from John Marino <marino@FreeBSD.org> ---
Also, I need to iterate:

Simply applying the patch will not prove anything. I can not reproduce the
breakage at will. I would have to run with it for months to be confident it
was working.

You're both partially correct :)

* Python ports must be prefixed with py- unless there is a compelling case not
to do so.
* Python ports must be named py-<[upstream|pypi]name] unless there is a
compelling case not to do so.

Please rename the port (and svn directory) to py-pyscard. PORTNAME should be
upstream name, with PKGNAMEPREFIX set to PYTHON_PKGNAMEPREFIX.

--- Comment #6 from yuri@rawbw.com ---
Currently python ports can be built in different flavors using different
versions of python. So the port py-xxx will become the package named ex.
py27-xxx or py34-xxx. While this in itself is a hack, I am sure that framework
will choke on the python port names without py- prefix in this regard.

This should really be fixed in the framework, but for the time being it is
better to follow this convention for port names.

--- Comment #5 from Dmitry Sivachenko <demon@FreeBSD.org> ---
Yes, but it could be turned off.
If you rely on SUITESPARSE @ numpy, then
libumfpack.so:${PORTSDIR}/math/suitesparse
is redundant here (it will be inherited for py-numpy).

But if numpy's SUITESPARSE is mandatory for this port to work, it must be
ensured some way that it was not turned off.

--- Comment #6 from yuri@rawbw.com ---
You are right.
But currently there is no such way to ensure the options of the dependencies,
besides python version.

I happen to also work on the solution to this (currently this is the PR to
poudriere on GitHub). When completed, there will be the way to ensure
dependency options from the dependent port. I will keep this case in mind until
this is ready.

--- Comment #7 from yuri@rawbw.com ---
Actually, the option SUITESPARSE in math/py-numpy is broken.

It sets the port to depend on libumfpack.so, but build process doesn't open
anything under /usr/local/include/suitesparse++, and no shared libraries link
to libumfpack.so. So this option and dependency look defunct.

--- Comment #15 from commit-hook@freebsd.org ---
A commit references this bug:

Author: makc
Date: Wed Jun 10 09:23:54 UTC 2015
New revision: 389024
URL: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/changeset/ports/389024

Log:
  Pass the default Python version (or the version required by port)
  for CMake based ports. By default CMake picks up the highest
  available version of Python package, therefore ports which use CMake
  may fail to build or link to different Python library than one could
  expect (e.g. bugs 199685, 200518).
  In essence this commit reverts r366996.

I'm running into a wall with regards to using subprocess.call in a
python script running in a crontab. I have isolated this problem to be
subprocess not able to find the 7z executable. I have tried adding
PYTHONPATH=$PATH to crontab, I have tried adding shell=True to
subprocess.call, and I have tried using /usr/loca/bin/7z rather than
7z. None of these have fixed the problem. The error that I get is the
following:
/usr/local/bin/7z: realpath: not found
/usr/local/bin/7z: dirname: not found
exec: /../libexec/p7zip/7z: not found

Here is how I'm calling the script in crontab:
PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin
@every_minute           $HOME/test.py >> $HOME/test.error 2>&1

Here is the contents of my script (test.py):

#!/usr/bin/env python3
# -*- coding: utf-8 -*-

import os
import subprocess
import tempfile

thing = 'blahblahblah'

errors = open('/home/myuser/error', 'wb')

with tempfile.TemporaryDirectory() as tmpdirname:
    tempthing = os.path.join(tmpdirname, thing)
    fh = open(tempthing, 'wb')
    fh.write(b'123')
    fh.close()
    zipname = '{}.zip'.format(thing)
    ziptempfile = os.path.join(tmpdirname, zipname)
    zipper = subprocess.call(['7z', 'a', '-p{}'.format('something'),
'-tzip', '-y', ziptempfile, tempthing], stdout=errors,
stderr=subprocess.STDOUT)

I can't remember offhand, but I don't think you can do that.
I think you may need to fully specify the PATH instead of using $PATH.

Can you add right here:
       print("PATH: %s" % os.environ['PATH'], file=errors)

and see what the PATH is in your errors file?

I should have mentioned that I'm using python3. The above is causing a

crontab isn't using a PATH for your specified user, so you need to give an absolute path.

> Here is how I'm calling the script in crontab:
> PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin

I can't remember offhand, but I don't think you can do that.
I think you may need to fully specify the PATH instead of using $PATH.

> errors = open('/home/myuser/error', 'wb')
>
> with tempfile.TemporaryDirectory() as tmpdirname:
> tempthing = os.path.join(tmpdirname, thing)
> fh = open(tempthing, 'wb')
> fh.write(b'123')
> fh.close()
> zipname = '{}.zip'.format(thing)
> ziptempfile = os.path.join(tmpdirname, zipname)
>

Can you add right here:
print("PATH: %s" % os.environ['PATH'], file=errors)

and see what the PATH is in your errors file?

Dear port maintainer,

The portscout new distfile checker has detected that one or more of your
ports appears to be out of date. Please take the opportunity to check
each of the ports listed below, and if possible and appropriate,
submit/commit an update. If any ports have already been updated, you can
safely ignore the entry.

You will not be e-mailed again for any of the port/version combinations
below.

Full details can be found at the following URL:
http://portscout.freebsd.org/python@freebsd.org.html

Port | Current version | New version
------------------------------------------------+-----------------+------------
www/xist                                        | 5.13            | 5.13.1
------------------------------------------------+-----------------+------------

If any of the above results are invalid, please check the following page
for details on how to improve portscout's detection and selection of
distfiles on a per-port basis:

http://portscout.freebsd.org/info/portscout-portconfig.txt

Thanks.
