Sorry, I didn't explain myself properly. I'll rephrase. Section 5.7.3, as seen at https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/x11-wm.html, has instructions for both startx and XDM, as you point out. What I mean is that the second of these two, the one about XDM, says to use `exec /usr/local/bin/startxfce4` in `~/.xsession`, and that didn't work for= me. However, using `exec /usr/local/bin/xfce4-session` instead, in that same fi= le, does the trick. Now, it might be it's not that the command is wrong, but that the argument = is missing. That I cannot tell. As for the startx route, I haven't even tried (I'm going the XDM route), so= I cannot tell. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Sun Jan 24 01:57:50 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B2266A8F9BA for ; Sun, 24 Jan 2016 01:57:50 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from vorstand@blaskapelle-gremsdorf.de) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9A9DF1F30 for ; Sun, 24 Jan 2016 01:57:50 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from vorstand@blaskapelle-gremsdorf.de) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 97FFDA8F9B7; Sun, 24 Jan 2016 01:57:50 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: doc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 979ACA8F9B6 for ; Sun, 24 Jan 2016 01:57:50 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from vorstand@blaskapelle-gremsdorf.de) Received: from mo6-p07-ob.smtp.rzone.de (mo6-p07-ob.smtp.rzone.de [IPv6:2a01:238:20a:202:5307::2]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "*.smtp.rzone.de", Issuer "TeleSec ServerPass DE-2" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 3BF971F2F for ; Sun, 24 Jan 2016 01:57:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from vorstand@blaskapelle-gremsdorf.de) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; t=1453600665; l=771; s=domk; d=blaskapelle-gremsdorf.de; h=Content-Transfer-Encoding:Content-Type:MIME-Version:Subject: Reply-To:From:To:Date; bh=q4YjIpLUKJbdZsH+TjX5LYs8fz+jAmo5pxtR4XUQ1y8=; b=UAzItLc02z/LHnqgq/qWIAGo24Lu7ajNV7w18FVZG5DYAJeIZlxda3ElPhIW4C3O3VZ ZgZNVAReGQ0zOg5tk0IXzI1KAy+5E+oWo3aZ6VLLEPnRuyNhxdsgGtoURH21fmShBSnkr QBazzCCSNRQPl9mecf0PwPYE5jaiAds0DPU= X-RZG-CLASS-ID: mo07 X-RZG-AUTH: :OmMWZlSpdfvc4oxme5+K+i7TVG3w5H14v/2DLXrMqbI7pyLy0lXQY5p6CO4iBBnnqEIIRSudAV8= Received: from gitanagari.org (ec2-50-19-38-2.compute-1.amazonaws.com [50.19.38.2]) by smtp.strato.de (RZmta 37.15 DYNA|AUTH) with ESMTPSA id Y03b11s0O1vi2iM (using TLSv1 with cipher AES256-SHA (256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) for ; Sun, 24 Jan 2016 02:57:44 +0100 (CET) Date: Sun, 24 Jan 2016 01:57:44 +0000 To: doc@freebsd.org From: Cristina Weber Reply-To: Cristina Weber Subject: You Have 1 InstaH00kup Request Message-ID: X-Priority: 3 X-Mailer: PHPMailer 5.2.6 (https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.20 X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.20 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 24 Jan 2016 01:57:50 -0000 i luv being f#cked but my BF never gives it to me :( i can't stop touching my pu$$y and need a real c*ck now! If you could provide tutorials on writing device drivers such as an nvidia740M graphics card. I am also looking for general guides on compiling linux software under BSD, writing custom bootloaders and gui frameworks, as well as writing some custom server side frameworks and networking frameworks as well as tutorials for writing some custom audio frameworks. you could even try at least to get guitarix, rakarrack, vmpk, ardour, lmms, hydrogen, blender, etcetera to run under bsd, I think it can be done. If your feeling really ambitious you might try to get synaptic to run under bsd. My goal is to build my own PC(like my own microchips), so any and all relevant information that I havent found yet, I am looking for! Tutorials could even include writing custom kernels. As well I am looking for tutorials on data compression and execution. I have a theory for storing data in memory in small packets, but I still need some help in implementing my designs. So yeah get creative with the tutorials I guess, and have fun. These tutorials would literally help the entire computing world. I need to learn how to get input from the keyboard and audio card. I need to learn how to print characters to the screen I need tutorials on every single process that happens in the computer basically. Literally every small minute process that happens, I need detailed tutorials on it. like so detailed that it becomes funny. the reason is, is that my computer chips are going to communicate wirelessly because I dont like wires. so any and every bit of help and information I can find, I will take! There are some additional 'books' and 'articles' provided here: https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/ https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/ For example, you mentioned being interested in just boot loaders. The current boot model and the code for it are explained in the FreeBSD Architecture Handbook: https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/arch-handbook/ > _______________________________________________ > freebsd-doc@freebsd.org mailing list > https://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-doc > To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-doc-unsubscribe@freebsd.org" >=20 --=20 Allan Jude --Xuaa4lVQXfhdpXopErqGDLRiVgVHCFqbw Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (MingW32) iQIcBAEBAgAGBQJWpQ4TAAoJEBmVNT4SmAt+CI4QAMhV5YfLUr6eIV/oYZgWQT0y xHxxD613P3qt2vI+vS4b0Yp6/CI5IUVgDd1uECO2nTYt+xcQ5F/3Z80RHPFBEnGK +YfKJUqvDafYzxd5z7D4nU8Z/8Mu0PGXOvtNVQJOXMpBZWt82a+Mwx2CmPMnu2Jk LrQ7+7QyyuzQFwdzKPQjNUmgyeuaEyTTpXqhjgVFGaI7uvrziCyZ+mzq4axXJ2/I VquHNHzNqZYa8n0s/38trKZvEPBL/u/0O4o3Wk8u854cZHerpnrlZlFeF24G820Y qJw4bQVqrYUpP4+Da8rHsxTpd9saHNB3oS+fYGAC2S0S9itOSOrhPdT571Jge0V2 WcGyJH3lGze4ztLqPVeJUzHgMoWy/uPKw5Lf/tkBMGZXyDwlOz0iO62T8Co4ZXHb vnnFLtDBPCTuofwxe+6+3ta/jjcSfY+u70HqUuhY7PQLTpvA1k6VJKeV3S7UiDHR Ko8sppLAbG10tPAh9ku2lYuz3Otokhg7QcK1lHkflIeZZxPy4PO8SzdOeiTAdhlM GXOi2dPiZ48uULYGcubsGkatoJmSWS6GDXwde+EFMQYvHjbb2pZqnFxpuxGmWVXt Nx5/aHouDw2NiMDgweOWk7J8NYwHNpyfjDvO7l+DrVr1Vwv6CHS6drVMPd60NKb9 Ghqk10xGKbzvzbTHdcV1 =fSTi -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Xuaa4lVQXfhdpXopErqGDLRiVgVHCFqbw-- From owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Sun Jan 24 21:00:43 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 50DF379E1 for ; Sun, 24 Jan 2016 21:00:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 2FC6A1CB7 for ; Sun, 24 Jan 2016 21:00:43 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u0OL01e7036435 for ; Sun, 24 Jan 2016 21:00:43 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Message-Id: <201601242100.u0OL01e7036435@kenobi.freebsd.org> From: bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Subject: Problem reports for freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org that need special attention Date: Sun, 24 Jan 2016 21:00:43 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.20 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 24 Jan 2016 21:00:43 -0000 To view an individual PR, use: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=(Bug Id). I identified one of the issues as one of my own creation. I was wo= rking with these settings on a VMware vSphere and by default this doesn't a= llow promiscuous mode. I was wondering if the document should be updated t= o show this as a requirement of CARP. The second problem I was having I no= ted during the boot of the server. I had the following line in the rc.conf= file: ifconfig_vmx0_alias0=3D"vhid 1 advskew 100 pass redacted alias 155.247.167.= 127/32" This is close to the example given in the documentation outside of adjustin= g for my network card and settings. During the boot I would get the follow= ing error: /etc/rc: WARNING: $ifconfig_vmx0_alias0 needs leading "inet" keyword for an= IPv4 address. I changing the line to this: ifconfig_vmx0_alias0=3D"inet vhid 1 advskew 100 pass redacted alias 155.247= .167.127/32" After changing the line I did not note any errors during the boot of the OS= . I'm running a fully patched version of 10.2. I did find this is similar= to how a virtual host would be configured in the rc.conf file but find not= hing about this for CARP. Does this need to be updated in the document or = is there some other issue? Another example would be Zope 2.13. This port is listed in 3 categories:=20 Python: https://www.freebsd.org/ports/python.html#zope213-2.13.23 (generated long description link: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/head/www/zope213/pkg-descr?revision=3DHEAD= ) WWW: https://www.freebsd.org/ports/www.html#zope213-2.13.23 (generated long description link: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/head/www/zope213/pkg-descr?revision=3DHEAD= ?revision=3DHEAD ) Zope: https://www.freebsd.org/ports/zope.html#zope213-2.13.23 (generated lo= ng description link: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports/head/www/zope213/pkg-descr?revision=3DHEAD= ?revision=3DHEAD?revision=3DHEAD ) As you can see, in each category another copy of the string "?revision=3DHE= AD" is appended to the link to the long description. The bug is in https://svnweb.freebsd.org/doc/head/en_US.ISO8859-1/htdocs/ports/portindex?= view=3Dmarkup . On line 194, the loop goes through all the categories of a port (in alphabetical order) and creates the output string for the web page. On line= 200 the string "?revision=3DHEAD" is appended to the $ldesc string. But $ldesc doesn't change inside the loop (except in the first iteration) thus more co= pies are appended in each iteration. IMHO most of the body of the foreach loop should be outside it because most lines process the ports data in each iteration in the same way. Only line 1= 95 and lines 241-258 should be inside the loop. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Thu Jan 28 17:11:28 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 92519A702D7 for ; Thu, 28 Jan 2016 17:11:28 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 82DA71229 for ; Thu, 28 Jan 2016 17:11:28 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u0SHBSnJ092340 for ; Thu, 28 Jan 2016 17:11:28 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 206715] swapfile - late option in /etc/fstab is missing Date: Thu, 28 Jan 2016 17:11:28 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: new X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Documentation X-Bugzilla-Component: Documentation X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: c.brinkhaus@t-online.de X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: bug_id short_desc product version rep_platform op_sys bug_status bug_severity priority component assigned_to reporter Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.20 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 28 Jan 2016 17:11:28 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D206715 Bug ID: 206715 Summary: swapfile - late option in /etc/fstab is missing Product: Documentation Version: Latest Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Some People Priority: --- Component: Documentation Assignee: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Reporter: c.brinkhaus@t-online.de In https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/adding-swap-spac= e.html=20 - section 11.12.2.
