Hi Jim,

+1 for the microUSB serial=E2=80=8E. You list SATA 3 for the M2 connector. =
Does the kernel support SATA 3 on the marvell chipset?

Oh, and you have the clickboard slot as MicroBUS, but the link spells it Mi=
kroBUS (I like mikroElectronika stuff).=C2=A0

Thanks for the great work bringing these products out.=C2=A0

In the past it wasn't possible to use i2c rtc chips/modules on some arm
boards because the i2c driver would trigger a witness assertion about
sleeping while holding locks.  The only option was to use sysctl to set
machdep.disable_rtc_set=1 if your board had an i2c clock.

As of r320902 that restriction is removed and i2c clocks should work on
all systems.

Hello,

I would like to make PLATFORM a requirement on armv6 as I have already =
enabled it on most armv6 kernels. The old PLATFORM_SMP and MULTIDELAY =
options have already been merged with this in preparation for it being =
on by default.

I have updated most of the kernel configurations built under the =
universe target, however the Marvell configs still need to be updated. =
Unfortunately they are a little more complex than the other SoCs, and as =
I don=E2=80=99t have a setup to test any changes I would like help to =
update this code.

The advantage of using PLATFORM is it will allow us to remove the build =
time checks for each SoC. This will help add the Marvell code, along =
with the other ARMv7+ kernels, to be integrated into the GENERIC config, =
easing future maintenance.

Hello,

I'm trying to build packages on an rpi3, on a freshly build image (with

following error message:

make[5]: stopped in /usr/ports/ports-mgmt/pkg/work/pkg-1.10.1/src

Strange part, it says it's stripped already:

root@build:/usr/ports/ports-mgmt/pkg # file -s
./work/pkg-1.10.1/src/pkg-static
./work/pkg-1.10.1/src/pkg-static: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, ARM
aarch64, version 1 (FreeBSD), statically linked, stripped

However, trying to strip(1) manually reproduces the error:

# strip ~/pkg-static.1
strip: elf_strptr failed: Invalid argument

ktrace didn't reveal anything about the failing elf_strptr(3) call.

The system is:

FreeBSD build.aegir 12.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 12.0-CURRENT #0 r320657: Tue

aegir@marvin.harmless.hu:/tank/rpi3/crochet/work/obj/arm64.aarch64/tank/rpi3/src/sys/AEGIR
arm64

Could someone please help me with this? I don't really know how to solve
this, or where to start looking. Usually building pkg works out of box.

Best regards,
Gergely

Hey Andrew,

I've started port the ARMADA38X support to use the PLATFORM methods
and I can help with this one, but I don't have hardware to help with
ARMADAXP and the older SoCs.

gmake menuconfig
Doesn't see "Enable FreeBSD boot" option???

In freebsd-arm Digest, Vol 583, Issue 6
----------------------------------------------
Step to compile U-Boot:

 export CROSS_COMPILE=arm-none-eabi-
 gmake board_defconfig
gmake menuconfig (and select "Enable FreeBSD boot")
 gmake
-------------------------------------------------------

I follow Vadot's U-Boot step,but at gmake menuconfig.
Doesn't see "Enable FreeBSD boot" option???

below is my step:

git clone https://github.com/evadot/u-boot.git
cd u-boot
git checkout
setenv CROSS_COMPILE arm-none-linux-gnueabi-
gmake orangepi_one_defconfig
gmake menuconfig(Doesn't see "Enable FreeBSD boot" option???)
gmake

Hi,

I've installed RaspBSD (FreeBSD-aarch64-12.0-GENERIC-320146M.img) on an
4 GB microSD-Card for a RaspberryPi 3. So far it boots and runs fine but I would like to expand the root slice (the only slice)
over the full disk space but I cannot enter single user mode.

Un-commenting in /etc/rc.conf 'growfs_enable="YES"' and rebooting has no
effect. So I tried the manual way via `gpart resize /dev/mmcsd0s2` but
growfs(8) cannot expand root because root is mounted -- I guess. So I
tried `init 1` which just directly freezes the system as well as
`nextboot -o "-s" -k kernel` which hangs right after detecting the
keyboard. Guess in both cases it just freezes.

Don't know what are the dos and doen'ts for mailing lists and I
felt uncomfortable to put the full dmesg into the email. So I've
uploaded it here so far to http://textuploader.com/dku3j (So in case
you expect it to be directly on the mailing list I can still send it.)
Don't know what else to supply because I cannot even see a core dump.
(Only checked in root directory.)

Anyway for obvious reasons the dmesg is from from multiuser but I Could
supply a real screen shot for example.

How do you proceed from here or what do I miss maybe?

Best regards
sVx

Far as I know single user requires a serial console. I'd be pleased to
learn I'm wrong.

That is correct; you need a serial console cable both for single-user
and to interact with the boot process, should it be necessary (e.g.
problems that prevent coming up in multiuser, such as a corrupt SD card
that fdisk cannot automatically fix, issues that preclude reading the
card or the slice table normally, bad /etc/fstab file, etc)

I think that you need a serial console as somebody already mentioned,
but I think that you can force firstboot actions. I think that you can
just create a /firstboot file and reboot. The growfs operation should
run as long as you have the growfs_enable still enabled. I don't know
any of this, but it should be easy to test.

Dear all,

I installed

reeBSD-12.0-CURRENT-arm64-aarch64-RPI3-20170710-r320869.img.xz
on an SD card without any problems, built several packages and finally =
compiled a GENERIC-NODEBUG
head kernel of today on the RPi3.

After installing it, it doesn't boot.

Can confirm that 'growfs_enable=3DYES' is not working properly on RaspBSD.
Instead, running a 'service growfs onestart' worked for me:

root@rpi3:~ # service growfs onestart
Growing root partition to fill device
GEOM_PART: mmcsd0s2 was automatically resized.
  Use `gpart commit mmcsd0s2` to save changes or `gpart undo mmcsd0s2` to=20

I believe you need to have /firstboot before growfs_enable="YES" well
work for you. /firstboot is in the rpi images from RaspBSD, but once
you have booted it the first time that file is wiped.

I remedied this by adding the definition to the appropriate
atomic.h file (sys/arm/include/atomic.h if my memory serves
me right)

Simply add...

#define atomic_readandclear_ptr    atomic_readandclear_32

in the file and the build should complete just fine.
