So, so far, these ports could be switched to puppet@ for maintainership: - databases/puppetdb-terminus3 - databases/puppetdb-terminus5 - databases/puppetdb3 - databases/puppetdb5 - devel/rubygem-hocon - sysutils/puppet4 - sysutils/puppet5 I mailed portmgr@ asking for details about how to proceed and am waiting for a reply from them. I am not using it for now, so I can't test it, that's why it is not in the list, but since running a puppet master from the Ruby source is deprecated, it's a must-have. I can follow up with some Puppet folk - some of my upstream things are merged - others are still open. Some were blockers for cfacter on FreeBSD. I plan to hack on FreeBSD Puppet stuff all day at the contributor summit at Puppetconf this year if there are others. Cool. I also contacted portmgr@ regarding setting-up a 'puppet-ports' repository on GitHub for the puppet@ team. The idea would of course that you would be part of that team and have access to this repository, even if you cannot commit into the FreeBSD ports tree. > I can follow up with some Puppet folk - some of my upstream things are > merged - others are still open. Some were blockers for cfacter on FreeBS= D. Had you an opportunity to check the updated facter in my proposal? I am running this on my boxes as a replacement of rubygem-facter and it seems to be fine. > I plan to hack on FreeBSD Puppet stuff all day at the contributor summit = at > Puppetconf this year if there are others. Unfortunately, I can't attend such events because of the costs (quite expensive and I would have to pay for it personally, no $PAYJOB sponsoring possible) :-( Please note that I am based in France, and EuroBSDCon this year is in Paris, so I guess attending it would be acceptable for me. If we are a bunch of Puppet users there, maybe we can organize something! I quite agree. The first idea behind the repo was to be able to "bundle" modified ports so that on can easily pick all of them and use them on top of the official tree. For me, the reference ports stays "what is currently in the FreeBSD ports" and if no complex dependency prevent it, committing changes directly to the FreeBSD ports tree is definitively an option. --=20 Romain Tarti=E8re http://people.FreeBSD.org/~romain/ pgp: 8234 9A78 E7C0 B807 0B59 80FF BA4D 1D95 5112 336F (ID: 0x5112336F) (plain text =3Dnon-HTML=3D PGP/GPG encrypted/signed e-mail much appreciated) --TB36FDmn/VVEgNH/ Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQGzBAEBCAAdFiEEgjSaeOfAuAcLWYD/uk0dlVESM28FAlluJUkACgkQuk0dlVES M2/nVgv9EKp+Phv3AXuPT4CBnYhGrZ8w6cYAzSWF/U6JSU2FT5v9Aaf1pq6Mo/CA hNx1wbDqicgi31me5IwrzSp6MOThi7HvxxqHwI7eg7Yz6HOd0ClV4cbgARDe3o8M ERUM8Sy0APGcLO5R0BgHytlvuhPLjk+sLhOBz+nbUwLATErzdR6lNlBG3svyqNSI wCqypzUg+VQqwv5YDIUzO42A3w5G2/WHiH+JjQEYrZKLTpJM6M51lqZ6nU2jA/gj Am8Agp4DMk7Nuhf20Y7Pq0kWlJR5C90YF4Fzc47kkBFGQ1uO14mTdeMv8GOefEUs ijpMSCSZpGaj4oMqwXtOKc81UotKDodfc3B601yjIAqY2+qoUX/J3AKroHsWs6MN Xxy+rg7rL7Rxj684l0Whau3gEbT6p1Eutp4NuX44/G66jAjlO9CBjnWpngprsTqx 7updkcu6l8vm64KthRcwg+naxH2B1XVufS4BUXxZuQWzF3ICuu5zsxBfNlNZOVdG 56x/yOPz =4As2 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --TB36FDmn/VVEgNH/-- From owner-freebsd-ruby@freebsd.org Tue Jul 18 15:13:05 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ruby@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B2234D7F7CB for ; Tue, 18 Jul 2017 15:13:05 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from romain@marvin.blogreen.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9B2A171A34 for ; Tue, 18 Jul 2017 15:13:05 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from romain@marvin.blogreen.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 9A7C4D7F7CA; Tue, 18 Jul 2017 15:13:05 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: ruby@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9A0DAD7F7C9 for ; Tue, 18 Jul 2017 15:13:05 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from romain@marvin.blogreen.org) Received: from marvin.blogreen.org (blogreen.org [IPv6:2001:41d0:fea8:8901::2]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4ACF471A33; Tue, 18 Jul 2017 15:13:05 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from romain@marvin.blogreen.org) Received: by marvin.blogreen.org (Postfix, from userid 1001) id 8641AA06FB; Tue, 18 Jul 2017 17:13:04 +0200 (CEST) Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2017 17:13:04 +0200 From: Romain =?iso-8859-1?Q?Tarti=E8re?= To: Jason Slagle Cc: Zach , freebsd@zleslie.info, tj@freebsd.org, ruby@freebsd.org Subject: Re: [CFT] Bringing in Puppet 5 Message-ID: <20170718151304.GB85804@FreeBSD.org> References: <20170710152902.GA69412@blogreen.org> <20170718083254.GA80854@FreeBSD.org> <20170718141932.GA77483@FreeBSD.org> <20170718142558.GA14902@celtis.u.larch.space> <20170718143125.GA81260@blogreen.org> <20170718144537.GA16149@celtis.u.larch.space> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha256; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="oC1+HKm2/end4ao3" Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: X-PGP-Key: http://romain.blogreen.org/pubkey.asc User-Agent: Mutt/1.8.3 (2017-05-23) X-BeenThere: freebsd-ruby@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.23 Precedence: list List-Id: FreeBSD-specific Ruby discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2017 15:13:05 -0000 --oC1+HKm2/end4ao3 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable On Tue, Jul 18, 2017 at 02:48:36PM +0000, Jason Slagle wrote: > We could idle in #puppet-dev on the Puppet slack - I asked them to create > us a FreeBSD channel but Meg (community manager) isn't up yet.
