For the life of me I can't remember why I had to do that. I had issues with 10-STABLE a while back on PPC64 and have yet to try upgrading to 10.4 but will do so soon. I'd burn a 10.3 disc and see if that works. That is not good. Can you try an 11-STABLE or 12-CURRENT snapshot? > This morning I downloaded and burned 10.4 release onto another DVD and attempted to install — not a whole lot of success. The shell works, though I’m not perfectly sure if that can be used to partition the system. Might this be related to my “lazy” workaround of booting from DVD by removing the hard drive and re-inserting it once OF has recognized the DVD? It might be. Are you booting by serial console or with video? You can press and hold "C" with a video console to boot the DVD with the hard drive in. -Nathan > Is there any patch/workaround I might be able to use just to complete installation? If you update your source and build a new kernel, it should be fixed. I would also be happy to supply you with a pre-built kernel if you like.
