Anything that avoids the name conflict is a work around. clang for "with altivec/OpenCL support included" defines the notations: ( 3 lines from llvm/tools/clang/lib/Parse/ParseExpr.cpp ) [OpenCL 1.1 6.11.12] vec_step built-in function: vec_step ( expressions ) vec_step ( type-name ) and has error messages like (2 more lines from there): Not a typeof/sizeof/alignof/vec_step expression! Not a sizeof/alignof/vec_step expression! (and examples via tools/clang/include/clang/Basic/DiagnosticSemaKinds.td ) invalid application of '%select{sizeof|alignof|vec_step|__builtin_omp_required_simd_align}0' to an 'vec_step' requires built-in scalar or vector type, %0 invalid As I understand, telling clang -mno-altivec avoids vec_step being defined by clang (via lack of OpenCL support for such) and so avoids needing to rename the local variable in gcc's tree-vect-loop.c . As far as I can tell the gcc code should be valid but system-clang as configured by default makes it not so. I disagree with the "bug" aspect of "Work-around for bug in tree-vect-loop.c". Presuming there is a reason to have OpenCL support enabled in system- clang, I expect that the conditional: CFLAGS+=3D -mno-altivec is appropriate. Otherwise disabling OpenCL support in system-clang for powerpc64 would avoid vec_step ending up as an unavailable name. (I do not know if altivec can be enabled but still have OpenCL support disabled via normal configuration controls for system-clang.) -mno-altivec would not be limited to gcc6 as long as gcc happens to use the name vec_step in its tree-vect-loop.c . I've not checked gcc8 yet, nor have I checked gcc9-devel . gcc7 had the usage and so suffered the issue. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org Sun Jul 22 18:54:07 2018 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ppc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 1C4E71052F5C for ; Sun, 22 Jul 2018 18:54:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id AB7FD803DA for ; Sun, 22 Jul 2018 18:54:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 6B2F11052F5A; Sun, 22 Jul 2018 18:54:06 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: ppc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2E25B1052F58 for ; Sun, 22 Jul 2018 18:54:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:3]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id BFC41803D0 for ; Sun, 22 Jul 2018 18:54:05 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id E203520AB3 for ; Sun, 22 Jul 2018 18:54:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id w6MIs40T023015 for ; Sun, 22 Jul 2018 18:54:04 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id w6MIs4DC023014 for ppc@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 22 Jul 2018 18:54:04 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: ppc@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 225629] powerpc64 (POWER9) segfaults randomly (e.g., building lang/gcc5) Date: Sun, 22 Jul 2018 18:54:03 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Ports & Packages X-Bugzilla-Component: Individual Port(s) X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: marklmi26-fbsd@yahoo.com X-Bugzilla-Status: In Progress X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: ppc@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.27 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the PowerPC List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 22 Jul 2018 18:54:07 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D225629 --- Comment #24 from Mark Millard --- (In reply to Gerald Pfeifer from comment #23) The problem is with the name vec_step which has a special use in system-clang that conflicts with gcc's tree-vect-loop.c local use of the name: namespace pollution (via OpenCL support requiring such and being enabled, apparently). I've not checked gcc8 yet, nor have I checked gcc9-devel . gcc7 had the usage and so suffered the issue. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org Tue Jul 24 17:51:56 2018 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ppc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F2ACC105203B for ; Tue, 24 Jul 2018 17:51:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from cometinsatela@gmail.com) Received: from mail-lf1-x12e.google.com (mail-lf1-x12e.google.com [IPv6:2a00:1450:4864:20::12e]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 (128/128 bits)) (Client CN "smtp.gmail.com", Issuer "Google Internet Authority G2" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 610C07936B for ; Tue, 24 Jul 2018 17:51:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from cometinsatela@gmail.com) Received: by mail-lf1-x12e.google.com with SMTP id f135-v6so1860875lfg.10 for ; Tue, 24 Jul 2018 10:51:55 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20161025; h=mime-version:from:date:message-id:subject:to; bh=HwUVjxKbQkdxw+Ce8Oou7FHVbK5foO5TIBpyL0Avczw=; b=PsIjA/tvtBh9OPvgZ//hjp9DAD9X56goDhhyOamz0YU0WAg20FYaNWhn0viK7LU2AD of+6EwldnbL62mQGt3tJhtnsLVTLPyidqfzvUc8ujj/BeGPRFv3eHkjDZpauXZcUh0cd ++D6eXNWuEJl8m5xa+nUGSWEWeHRVg/MPKE9M02Yj/823NunqeUsWDWhKciPAZxSRS0c CZz/uo84GA6tWuPuMQAnQH+wZA4/CNp02CP1/l2VHqpDsOoSiH346A+eJZlE4BV3NxEQ DvnAx8665L+W07R5NJ3f2u/9qhEHyHPB+Q0GnWvwk5BM2r/XkP6Nx6XunNF+enOdVMFM Pp/g== X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20161025; h=x-gm-message-state:mime-version:from:date:message-id:subject:to; bh=HwUVjxKbQkdxw+Ce8Oou7FHVbK5foO5TIBpyL0Avczw=; b=V6w+D4E+ABFSHIBChMhQ9R4Ox3D40inJ5qzbv51PIFIwc2mAxWICmw3AEcqqmHSyAX JeCXdU2op2Xq2Kg6JvWejzDXHZq5S05UztzIqtcA1DZ39y0XK3uetDp9GF3vxqBneBjY xMZidIimtw2+LkQ517VNfKG2AjLDDtyaHXZ3K/07QgE63VwVlbcYcIB7X43UCfD19GdW ozlVkoK7ok1z+wmLAUp2rx9jIa93RLJAG+9u3/+dCHVfDr+vCPEycKGGQ94nWxB+rMTC VC8gwnGaSOCgNR+b5q0LNecK6IveoOc/rBoARVX18yoBsVCbZcBvFwCDyRxrhs744drG 8pPw== X-Gm-Message-State: AOUpUlH8Kj05tjN8In8z4Y+z1+BVEhPTrUZwt2LZl3CboL1Ryxp/O8GM TgZUBdLyuNudgv8M+5McgiZkBK7i48d62V8pteVZuA== X-Google-Smtp-Source: AAOMgpech23/z74qG9h7ZXykhlV+LwRtsTQuLQm8C/2EOvIWzKiDb/rmqdzu+09W1Oa9UD7nCP6+YzmvD/jzfSI8Z3Q= X-Received: by 2002:a19:9a81:: with SMTP id c123-v6mr11185842lfe.106.1532454713904; Tue, 24 Jul 2018 10:51:53 -0700 (PDT) MIME-Version: 1.0 From: cometinSatela Date: Tue, 24 Jul 2018 12:51:21 -0500 Message-ID: Subject: Problems compiling XORG in iBook G4 (freeBSD 11.2) To: freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.27 X-BeenThere: freebsd-ppc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.27 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the PowerPC List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 24 Jul 2018 17:51:56 -0000 Hi Free BSD PowerPC friends. I'm owner of IBook G4 laptop, some weeks ago I try to install FreeBDS PowerPC 11.2. I tried FreeBSD-11.2-RELEASE-powerpc-disc1.iso, first step the installation were good (only S.O.) later I want to install nano by internet connection (wired) but there is no image available (powerPC port) so I In order to achieve that I compiled with "make recursive" and "make insall clean" commands..... this were ok too. So, next step to achieve was to install XORG...and the problems raised, first the compilation delayed 3 days! and finally the output was: 1 problem(s) in the installed packeges found ... ... if you wish to ignore this vulnerability rebuild with 'make DISABLE_VULNERABILITES=yes' Error code 1 Stop. Same thing with firefox installation...... So, I tried run make command with 'DISABLE_VULNERABILITES=yes' option and another error raised: Compilation failed unexpectedly try to set MAKE_JOBS_UNSAFE=yes and rebuild before reporting the failure to the maintainer. Error code 1 Stop There is some hope to get XORG up in my machine or any GUI? or the laptop only survive in O.S. environment withous GUI? The specs of the machine are: Configurations: 12-inch Combo Drive Model: M9426LL/A Processor: 1GHz PowerPC G4 Level 2 Cache: 512K at 1GHz System bus: 133MHz Memory (DDR SDRAM): 256MB PC2100 (266MHz); 1.25GB maximum; 1 available expansion slot Hard drive (3): 30GB ATA/100 4200 rpm Optical drive: Slot-loading Combo (DVD-ROM/CD-RW); SuperDrive available as a build-to-order option (14-inch models only) Display: 12.1-inch (diagonal) TFT XGA Graphics support: ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 with 32MB of DDR SDRAM FireWire: One FireWire 400 port at up to 400 Mbps USB: Two USB 2.0 ports at up to 480 Mbps each VGA, S-video and composite video output: Video mirroring supports VGA video out to an external display or projector (requires included Apple VGA Video Adapter) and S-video and composite video out to a TV or VCR (requires optional Apple Video Adapter, sold separately).
