You can manually turn it on (there's a /dev/led for it). Regarding the installer hanging, I saw that back when the powerpc64 port was originally done, on my dual-core 2GHz G5, but not on my DC 2.3GHz G5, so I do wonder if it's something related to that particular CPU stepping, or firmware. - Justin On Mon, 03 Sep 2018 02:56:56 +0000 koa~ via freebsd-ppc wrote: > So I tried booting the installer again and for some reason it worked, > but the problem seems to exist in the installed system too. > At random times it'd just hang while I'm using it and the red #7 LED > will light up. The unit does have the deathly red led on the front and the normal dialogs for install seem to appear. However there is no way to format a new disk in the machine. Anything I do gets rejected over and over and I get a popup message that claims the disk is corrupt. Not a very helpful message for the guided full UFS install. I see it on my Talos II (regular, currently single-CPU). It only affects performance, it doesn't affect system stability, in my case anyway. Some others have reported NVMe crashes, but I haven't reproduced on my hardware. We haven't yet determined the cause of the missing interrupt, but it happens often, and causes things to hang for a bit before continuing. We still have a bit of work to do on the stability and performance sides on POWER, particularly with the interrupt controller (XIVE) and the PCIe controller. - Justin
