In order to "get something done", I carried the USB flash drive to a produc= tion VirtualBox server that has an NEC D720201 chipset for USB 3.0 ports. There I ran the following command "sg_modes -a -vvvvv /dev/passX" against t= he latest FreeBSD 12.0-CURRENT image. I did not have any issues with the command output being truncated due to errors. I also ran the command "sg_modes -a -vvvvv /dev/sdX" on several Linux-based VM's without incident. These were LinuxMint 18.3 and CentOS EL 6.9 systems. The test machine (where the problem was originally observed) has a VIA VL805 chipset. On that machine I ran the command "sg_modes -a -vvvvv /dev/sdX" on several Linux-based VM's. Each of them displayed error(s) (similar to 12.0-CURRENT) trying to run the command. These were LinuxMint 18.3, openSU= SE Leap 42.3, and CentOS EL 7.1708 systems. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-usb@freebsd.org Thu Feb 22 19:38:20 2018 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-usb@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BF3FEF2491A for ; Thu, 22 Feb 2018 19:38:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from katelyn.smith@microiworld.com) Received: from IND01-MA1-obe.outbound.protection.outlook.com (mail-ma1ind01on0101.outbound.protection.outlook.com [104.47.100.101]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "mail.protection.outlook.com", Issuer "Microsoft IT TLS CA 4" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 9A8C8745B5 for ; Thu, 22 Feb 2018 19:38:19 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from katelyn.smith@microiworld.com) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=NETORGFT2803219.onmicrosoft.com; s=selector1-microiworld-com; h=From:Date:Subject:Message-ID:Content-Type:MIME-Version; bh=ukR760h2YHKaSuzvq3g8/n8/p2wcKca4I1c826nHHyY=; b=MPvdebGle6wVfKaDNTga83hzr0NTypKPVoe7XMH1TPiSduoppFHDL465zSPFaQjcfsBXnOkA98xd/tHHZvxN9MkbuJrTNFpWrAQlPeXK7cMO/MAVEXkYp2FjRFUtpFHS+/0Yhz55cZyV77l75h00UaLyHKv+GRQ8gquoC7iBR4Y= Received: from MA1PR01MB0311.INDPRD01.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM (10.164.120.135) by MA1PR01MB0247.INDPRD01.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM (10.164.120.10) with Microsoft SMTP Server (version=TLS1_2, cipher=TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA384_P256) id 15.20.506.18; Thu, 22 Feb 2018 19:38:15 +0000 Received: from MA1PR01MB0311.INDPRD01.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM ([fe80::218b:b976:bcc8:cb59]) by MA1PR01MB0311.INDPRD01.PROD.OUTLOOK.COM ([fe80::218b:b976:bcc8:cb59%14]) with mapi id 15.20.0506.023; Thu, 22 Feb 2018 19:38:15 +0000 From: Katelyn Smith To: "freebsd-usb@freebsd.org" Subject: QNAP Users List. Always - A connected memory stick shall be mounted i.e mount_msdosfs is executed for a memory stick 2. Sometimes on boot, when the kernel shows the messages for an integrated = USB umass device (in this case a SD card reader connected via USB without inser= ted SD-card) it crashes Because of point 2 i assume this is a problem in the USB system and not of mount. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.=
