Christensen --- So, after some extensive testing over the holidays: FreeBSD 11.1 with as low as 100mb ARC max, doesn't excert this behavior. FreeBSD 11.2 and 12.0 with 1024 ARC max and lower, excerts this behavior. FreeBSD 11.2 and 12.0 with over 4GB ARC max does not hang. (I need to see h= ow low I can make it go, but so far I've been unable to cause 4GB ARC max to h= ang) It may seem odd to want to limit ARC, but we have experienced high ARC usage and applications (bhyve VMs and MySQL daemons notably) being killed due to = OOM, if we don't enforce ARC limits. This causes a lot of nightly on-call activi= ty and data loss, which is not really something we care for. Furthermore, this= is on VMs that use a zvol as primary storage, on a host that has a fairly high= ARC limit, so ideally the host handles most of the ARC. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-virtualization@freebsd.org Fri Dec 28 18:36:31 2018 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-virtualization@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 57D9F141E73A for ; Fri, 28 Dec 2018 18:36:31 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from helen@getpayrollquotes.site) Received: from s177327.cloud.flynet.pro (alias19s177327.cloud.flynet.pro [193.47.34.33]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 35EBE950BA for ; Fri, 28 Dec 2018 18:36:28 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from helen@getpayrollquotes.site) Received: from alias1s177315.cloud.flynet.pro (alias4s177315.cloud.flynet.pro [193.47.34.205]) by s177327.cloud.flynet.pro (Postfix) with ESMTP id 21D3950A4A for ; Fri, 28 Dec 2018 19:49:38 +0200 (IST) Received: from m2130.de-tankkarten.site (m2196.de-tankkarten.site [91.200.149.196]) by alias1s177315.cloud.flynet.pro (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0952F419D8 for ; Fri, 28 Dec 2018 19:49:26 +0200 (IST) Received: from m1.bizquotes.click (unknown [10.20.15.1]) by m2130.de-tankkarten.site (Postfix) with ESMTP id 73F4567755 for ; Fri, 28 Dec 2018 17:42:06 +0200 (IST) Received: from list.bizquotes.click (unknown [192.168.100.137]) by m1.bizquotes.click (Postfix) with ESMTP id 32B294EA5 for ; Fri, 28 Dec 2018 17:26:46 +0200 (IST) DKIM-Filter: OpenDKIM Filter v2.11.0 m1.bizquotes.click 32B294EA5 DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=bizquotes.org; s=zmail; t=1546010806; bh=jV1//BJx5iPlNmhDv8cRdyyK/VXVmvmsavxMkNmlGCM=; h=To:Subject:Date:From:Reply-To:List-Unsubscribe:From; b=q8WE2WvAzHdZy2KhHiIimS8yJQ1bQsremn4e1V001USQtdnBBcnx8l44eemKdcZyX r9T4zH6Aln3i//I5kbg1SL6s79+PTH11P3QjEjVY5TUvzA0pKsNqFG+CJ95HgBF09g FnILdUBiZDHwsSAOqhlVHdxjcInLreBk7aE4Baio= To: freebsd-virtualization@freebsd.org Subject: Low Cost Payroll Service for Charlie's Choice Message-ID: <542751e80bf022c3acbae110ae93ed97@list.bizquotes.click> Date: Fri, 28 Dec 2018 14:22:36 +0000 From: "Helen Collins" Reply-To: helen@getpayrollquotes.site MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailer-LID: 41,41 X-Mailer-RecptId: 34790047 X-Mailer-SID: 23198 X-Mailer-Sent-By: 1 X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: 35EBE950BA X-Spamd-Bar: ++++ Authentication-Results: mx1.freebsd.org; dkim=pass header.d=bizquotes.org header.s=zmail header.b=q8WE2WvA; spf=pass (mx1.freebsd.org: domain of helen@getpayrollquotes.site designates 193.47.34.33 as permitted sender) smtp.mailfrom=helen@getpayrollquotes.site X-Spamd-Result: default: False [4.40 / 15.00]; HAS_REPLYTO(0.00)[helen@getpayrollquotes.site]; R_SPF_ALLOW(-0.20)[+Ip4:193.47.34.0/24]; TO_DN_NONE(0.00)[]; REPLYTO_ADDR_EQ_FROM(0.00)[]; DKIM_TRACE(0.00)[bizquotes.org:+]; MX_GOOD(-0.01)[mx10.getpayrollquotes.site,mx20.getpayrollquotes.site]; RCVD_NO_TLS_LAST(0.10)[]; FROM_EQ_ENVFROM(0.00)[]; IP_SCORE(0.00)[country: RU(0.00)]; INTRODUCTION(2.00)[]; ASN(0.00)[asn:51724, ipnet:193.47.34.0/24, country:RU]; HAS_INTERSPIRE_SIG(1.00)[]; ARC_NA(0.00)[]; R_DKIM_ALLOW(-0.20)[bizquotes.org:s=zmail]; RCVD_COUNT_FIVE(0.00)[5]; FROM_HAS_DN(0.00)[]; TO_MATCH_ENVRCPT_ALL(0.00)[]; NEURAL_SPAM_SHORT(0.88)[0.883,0]; MIME_GOOD(-0.10)[multipart/alternative,text/plain]; HAS_PHPMAILER_SIG(0.00)[]; PREVIOUSLY_DELIVERED(0.00)[freebsd-virtualization@freebsd.org]; HAS_LIST_UNSUB(-0.01)[]; RCPT_COUNT_ONE(0.00)[1]; NEURAL_SPAM_MEDIUM(0.32)[0.319,0]; DMARC_NA(0.00)[getpayrollquotes.site]; NEURAL_SPAM_LONG(0.62)[0.615,0]; MIME_TRACE(0.00)[0:+,1:+] Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.29 X-BeenThere: freebsd-virtualization@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: "Discussion of various virtualization techniques FreeBSD supports."
