Last week, I've worked on some of the PCI drivers which need some modification. As we decided to create a new macro - PCI_MATCH, i was working on consolidating my work using this macro. I have started the conversion process after rebasing to the latest FreeBSD build. Initially, I worked on the following drivers - imcmsb, fixup, de, dpt, bktr, esp, grackle. [1] [2]. Furthermore, I've been working on the following drivers as well: glxsb, emu, emujoy, hifn, bt, arcmsr, cp, ce, cy [3] [4]. We need to convert the drivers in a certain way so that kldxref can find it and record it in linker hints. I am working on PCI drivers so as to make it easy for kldxref to find them. I am also learning the internals of the kernel, this will help our goal ultimately - Automatic module loading. [5] Please find my updated project homepage here. After that, I figured out how I can run it. There were some troubles with getting networking to work in the Xen domU, but I finally figured it out and built the new kernel and ran it. The driver works fine for the most part. But there is an error message printed every second or so which says a read or write failed. I investigated further, and it turns out around 35% of the read or write operations fail. I have not been able to figure out where the problem originates from yet. I will continue debugging until I find out what's going wrong. You can check the code here [0]. I maintain a blog on Blogger where I publish my progress every few days. Check it out if you want more details on what I'm doing [1]. The library net/netmap_user.h has been changed accordingly and applications will automatically handle the offsets through the NETMAP_BUF() macro after being re-compiled. This type of offset can be specified during a NETMAP_REQ_REGISTER command by adding a struct nmreq_opt_ring_offset to the option list. The offset will be applied to each ring specified by the register request with the exception of netmap pipes and monitors: - netmap pipes apply the offset to every ring of both ends, regardless of the specified rings. - netmap monitors retrieve the offset from the monitored rings, therefore it is considered an error if an application specifies an offset during the register command, or if the specified rings to monitor have been registered with different offsets. As both .NET and PowerShell are now functional on the platform, I'm looking= to build the ports by automating the current manual steps necessary to bui= ld both and am also working on bringing source-build support to FreeBSD alo= ngside the .NET community. Source-build is a repository maintained by Micro= soft that contains scripts which allow for a tarball generation of the .NET= Core SDK on a given platform. Mateus Rodrigues de Morais
