The release revision is @ 352868. I have setup distcc successfully and compilation works, but it fails at this point: To be clear, I am compiling directly on the Pi itself and offloading jobs to an arm qemu instance on a faster computer. As far as I know the images running are the same. /usr/src/gnu/lib/libgcc/../../../contrib/gcc/unwind-dw2.c:1396:3: error: cannot compile this __builtin_init_dwarf_reg_size_table yet __builtin_init_dwarf_reg_size_table (dwarf_reg_size_table); ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1 error generated. distcc[74549] ERROR: compile /usr/src/gnu/lib/libgcc/../../../contrib/gcc/unwind-dw2.c on localhost failed *** [unwind-dw2.o] Error code 1 make[4]: stopped in /usr/src/gnu/lib/libgcc 1 error make[4]: stopped in /usr/src/gnu/lib/libgcc *** [gnu/lib/libgcc__PL] Error code 2 make[3]: stopped in /usr/src --- lib/libcompiler_rt__PL --- A failure has been detected in another branch of the parallel make make[4]: stopped in /usr/src/lib/libcompiler_rt *** [lib/libcompiler_rt__PL] Error code 2 make[3]: stopped in /usr/src 2 errors make[3]: stopped in /usr/src *** [libraries] Error code 2 make[2]: stopped in /usr/src 1 error make[2]: stopped in /usr/src *** [_libraries] Error code 2 make[1]: stopped in /usr/src 1 error make[1]: stopped in /usr/src *** [buildworld] Error code 2 make: stopped in /usr/src 1 error make: stopped in /usr/src It seems a similar problem happened for someone in this StackOverflow thread, https://stackoverflow.com/questions/53786496/clang-error-cannot-compile-builtin-function-yet. However this person was compiling the Linux kernel and it looks like they used GCC to get around the issue, which I don't think I can do here? I've only got BETA1 crunched right now, which is earlier than what you're crunching: FreeBSD 12.1-BETA1 #40 r352628+7b111613ad48(releng/12.1): Wed Sep 25 04:59:52 PDT 2019 warlock@rpi3.phouka.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/arm64.aarch64/sys/GENERIC arm64 Once my poudriere runs finishes, I'll try BETA2 and see what results I get. No qemu in my case. Although... the BETA2 version I crunched for amd64 is still lower than what you have: FreeBSD 12.1-BETA2 #59 r352780+b78e5b46c44c(releng/12.1): Sat Sep 28 14:57:47 PDT 2019 warlock@phouka1.phouka.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/amd64.amd64/sys/GENERIC amd64 I've been compiling from source since pre-12.0, so not familiar with specific r# of images. I suspect they come with WITHOUT_REPRODUCIBLE_BUILD enabled, so trivial versioning is a bit harder. In short, not sure exactly what version of the code you're starting with and what version you're trying to compile. If you checked out the source (via git in my case), make sure you're on the right branch (releng/12.1 now for 12.1), although I doubt that would bite you for most of the 12.x versions (although 12.0 shipped with clang6 (vs 8), so maybe that might be something that could slip though some cracks. But that would mean that you're doing something that you don't think you are. That "revision" number is what I typically see tagged on the kernel number, 352780 below but 352868 in your example. I haven't caught them going down, but if that is some MFC number that isn't guaranteed to be an increasing integer, maybe it could be off. I think that is associated with this: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/base/head/sys/?view=log&pathrev=352868 Which would be in head (13), MFC after 3 days, Sun Sep 29 10:45:13 2019 UTC. Any way you cook that, it shouldn't have made it into 12.1 before Oct 1st, give or take UTC time adjustments. If you grabbed a FreeBSD 13.0-CURRENT SD-card image and you're trying to compile 12.1, then my experiences won't be relevant. It looks like they make a new image every ~7 days and the 27th was the last one, which doesn't really line up there. If you just made a typo, then more relevant. I had no problems crunching BETA2 from BETA1. FreeBSD 12.1-BETA2 #41 r352780+b78e5b46c44c(releng/12.1)-dirty: Mon Sep 30 11:10:03 PDT 2019 What does your src.conf look like? WITHOUT_LLVM_LIBUNWIND set? Maybe anti-LLVM/pro-GCC in some other way? From src.conf(5): WITHOUT_LLVM_LIBUNWIND Set to use GCC's stack unwinder (instead of LLVM's libunwind). This is a default setting on arm/arm, arm/armv6, arm/armv7, powerpc/powerpc, powerpc/powerpc64, powerpc/powerpcspe and sparc64/sparc64. You had problems in /usr/src/gnu/lib/libgcc, which seems to be triggered on something like that (I really haven't tried to delve that deep into the FreeBSD source Makefiles). Maybe copied configuration settings over from a previous RPI? Your RPI3B+ is arm64, so if you had that set you might want to yank it. [/usr/src/gnu/lib/Makefile] .if ${MK_LLVM_LIBUNWIND} == "no" SUBDIR+= libgcc .endif My build didn't go down into that directory at all.
