In Linux, we can remove a particular pci device, and then after preforming = a "rescan" the device will appear again. For example, disable/rescind PCI (such as VF) : echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0001\:00\:02.0/remove # Get the device back echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/rescan I'm looking for a similar way in FreeBSD. Does the FreeBSD support the hotp= lug of a PCI device? Thanks in advance! For VFs you can create/remote them using iovctl on the PF device. You can also use 'devctl rescan' to force a rescan of a PCI bus as Ian noted. For native PCI-express hotplug you should not need to do manual rescans (though FreeBSD does not support PCI-e hotplug via Thunderbolt). -- John Baldwin From owner-freebsd-current@freebsd.org Mon Mar 25 18:32:13 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-current@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 844EC1549201; Mon, 25 Mar 2019 18:32:13 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from sgk@troutmask.apl.washington.edu) Received: from troutmask.apl.washington.edu (troutmask.apl.washington.edu [128.95.76.21]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-signature RSA-PSS (2048 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "troutmask", Issuer "troutmask" (not verified)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 25F518207E; Mon, 25 Mar 2019 18:32:12 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from sgk@troutmask.apl.washington.edu) Received: from troutmask.apl.washington.edu (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by troutmask.apl.washington.edu (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTPS id x2PI7H6B009113 (version=TLSv1.3 cipher=TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 bits=256 verify=NO); Mon, 25 Mar 2019 11:07:17 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from sgk@troutmask.apl.washington.edu) Received: (from sgk@localhost) by troutmask.apl.washington.edu (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id x2PI7HpS009112; Mon, 25 Mar 2019 11:07:17 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from sgk) Date: Mon, 25 Mar 2019 11:07:17 -0700 From: Steve Kargl To: freebsd-toolchain@freebsd.org, freebsd-current@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Optimization bug with floating-point? Ifconfig reports active + autoselect/1000baseT when it should report inactive. I filed a bug for this last week and have not had any luck... https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=236724 I am wondering if anyone in this list has any ideas or can help me begin to pinpoint where things are breaking down. My current though is either the driver does not receive the interrupt when its unplugged, or something else is wrong, but I am unsure how to verify this. An ifconfig down + up always resolves it (corrects the status). You wrote "apic.0.disabled", not "acpi.0.disabled". Are you sure you wrote the correct command? You do not want to disable the APIC (interrupt controller), but the ACPI (control and power interface). On a side note, you wrote "current@freebsd.org", so I've added "freebsd-current@freebsd.org" (I hope that's what you originally meant).
