As I am going to buy it on Europe, Sweden, I have little sources to show from. Here in Brazil the choices are even worse. More expensive and less options. So I found the Partaker on amazon.uk, but they ship from China, and I fear customs issues. All I found was APU2 from PC Engines. Its a good solution, but I was looking for a more strong CPU and more memory capacity. The box will be a small lan server, running zfs for 10TB and will be next firewall machine (when zfs will not be running on it). The link for this box is https://www.amazon.co.uk/Partaker-Mikrotik-Firewall-Security-Barebone/dp/B074Q7KMFG/ref=sr_1_14?keywords=partaker+i3&qid=1558969558&s=gateway&sr=8-14 The cpu has 15W TDP and really low power need. It fits just my need. There is the Protectli on USA (amazon.com), but I can't find it on EU stores. They look to much alike, so I guess they are brothers separated early on hospital :) If anyone could tell me stores and brands that I can order online from Europe to Sweden. I saw 3 suspicious spins with i386/PAE kernel since I updated on May 15th/16th. I boot FreeBSD 12.0-RELEASES i386/PAE once per a day and shutdown each time and use BSD everyday. I start with console and decide whether I want to use X or not and if so, I run startx. In the past, startx didn't come up twice in 30 seconds or so and console wasn't responding. Both times, I wasn't able to monitor system and gave up - hard reset. I had another and similar symptom. This time, I had ran X for a while. I started moving about 2 of 100MB files from tmpfs to zfs, I started seeing system lagging and also high CPU usage by kernel and syncer by top. Ctrl-T on mv printed "runnable" and "running" a lot while "systat -vm" wasn't showing any IO activities. After a minute or longer, system came back to normal. I haven't run non-PAE kernel as much, once or twice since the SA. I don't know if this issue is PAE kernel only. I definitely hadn't seen before the SA. Yesterday, when doing bulk data transfer from the system to offsite I noticed that the system would drop off the network. The em0 NIC would regularly report this to the console: em0: TX(0) desc avail = 1024, pidx = 0 em0: TX(0) desc avail = 1024, pidx = 0 em0: TX(0) desc avail = 1024, pidx = 0 [[etc.]] An "ifconfig em0" would show "no carrier" and ifconfig down/up would not bring the system back onto the network. To do that a reboot was necessary. (Speeds weren't terribly high either, load-wise, topping out at ~25 MBytes/s on a gigabit link.) This issue appears to have been reported as a regression in 12.0-RELEASE (e.g., https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=234766). A comment in another bug report concerning em performance (https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=235031#c22) mentions Errata Note updates being in the works to address em regressions post-iflib restructuring of the driver. Does anyone know whether this issue is fixed in em, at least for "older" devices like the 82579LM?? This used to be rock solid and fast for me under FreeBSD 11. For now, I've adopted the route of the bug reporters and am using the net/intel-em-kmod driver from ports. I can't afford to have this box drop off the network due to "load" and so stability is paramount. Cheers, Paul. The freebsd-update(8) utility supports binary upgrades of amd64 and i386 systems running earlier FreeBSD releases. Systems running earlier FreeBSD releases can upgrade as follows: # freebsd-update upgrade -r 11.3-BETA1 During this process, freebsd-update(8) may ask the user to help by merging some configuration files or by confirming that the automatically performed merging was done correctly. # freebsd-update install The system must be rebooted with the newly installed kernel before continuing. # shutdown -r now After rebooting, freebsd-update needs to be run again to install the new userland components: # freebsd-update install It is recommended to rebuild and install all applications if possible, especially if upgrading from an earlier FreeBSD release, for example, FreeBSD 11.x. Alternatively, the user can install misc/compat10x and other compatibility libraries, afterwards the system must be rebooted into the new userland: # shutdown -r now Finally, after rebooting, freebsd-update needs to be run again to remove stale files: # freebsd-update install Regards, Glen Love FreeBSD? I had the same issue and have bene using graphics/drm-legacy-kmod since then, but the changes to the Linux KPI which have come into STABLE in the last few days, and the newer version of the DRM pot, seem to have fixed the issue and I am now back to using the modern drivers. Worth a try for those people who were also having the same issue (sorry, I dont have much of the original thread to hand and I can't remember who you were) -pete. The workaround was to boot with = =E2=80=9Cefi.rt.disabled=3D1=E2=80=9D.=20 I took a closer look at what is going on. The problem is that the EFI = rt_gettime call is faulting, and the fault is handled in efirt_support.S = and a failure is reported. These messages is in the kernel output: kernel trap 12 with interrupts disabled kernel trap 12 with interrupts disabled EFI rt_gettime call faulted, error 14 efirtc0: cannot read EFI realtime clock, error 14 So far, so good. The problem is that that later in startup the = "smp_targeted_tlb_shootdown: interrupts disabled=E2=80=9D panic occurs, = if the SMP is enabled. With SMP disabled this does not occur and the = system runs. I=E2=80=99m not sure whether this is a BIOS problem (seems likely) or = something that could handled after dealing with the fault in = efirt_support.S. Note regarding arm64/aarch64 virtual machine images: a modified QEMU EFI loader file is needed for qemu-system-aarch64 to be able to boot the virtual machine images. See this page for more information: https://wiki.freebsd.org/arm64/QEMU To boot the VM image, run: % qemu-system-aarch64 -m 4096M -cpu cortex-a57 -M virt \ -bios QEMU_EFI.fd -serial telnet::4444,server -nographic \ -drive if=none,file=VMDISK,id=hd0 \ -device virtio-blk-device,drive=hd0 \ -device virtio-net-device,netdev=net0 \ -netdev user,id=net0 Be sure to replace "VMDISK" with the path to the virtual machine image. === Amazon EC2 AMI Images === FreeBSD/amd64 EC2 AMIs are available in the following regions: eu-north-1 region: ami-010af11cb640a6dee ap-south-1 region: ami-02b1930180c7e1f84 eu-west-3 region: ami-02c0fbb70c27140c9 eu-west-2 region: ami-0a153ee6417cc762a eu-west-1 region: ami-0d408e28706df7df4 ap-northeast-2 region: ami-06fb52e8cf793dd53 ap-northeast-1 region: ami-0bf79180cdb0e6923 sa-east-1 region: ami-0f4aff5453cb72b01 ca-central-1 region: ami-056a0b9ce2bd839f5 ap-southeast-1 region: ami-0f73e82a020a5137f ap-southeast-2 region: ami-06468078ec3e31029 eu-central-1 region: ami-0a6e0eb4c2a169f66 us-east-1 region: ami-0bc8f1f1ed85baa0f us-east-2 region: ami-041a4cee6e5445ee3 us-west-1 region: ami-00c3ebed64c1338e2 us-west-2 region: ami-01288513b23077913 === Vagrant Images === FreeBSD/amd64 images are available on the Hashicorp Atlas site, and can be installed by running: % vagrant init freebsd/FreeBSD-11.3-BETA2 % vagrant up === Upgrading === The freebsd-update(8) utility supports binary upgrades of amd64 and i386 systems running earlier FreeBSD releases. Systems running earlier FreeBSD releases can upgrade as follows: # freebsd-update upgrade -r 11.3-BETA2 During this process, freebsd-update(8) may ask the user to help by merging some configuration files or by confirming that the automatically performed merging was done correctly. # freebsd-update install The system must be rebooted with the newly installed kernel before continuing. # shutdown -r now After rebooting, freebsd-update needs to be run again to install the new userland components: # freebsd-update install It is recommended to rebuild and install all applications if possible, especially if upgrading from an earlier FreeBSD release, for example, FreeBSD 10.x. Alternatively, the user can install misc/compat10x and other compatibility libraries, afterwards the system must be rebooted into the new userland: # shutdown -r now Finally, after rebooting, freebsd-update needs to be run again to remove stale files: # freebsd-update install == ISO CHECKSUMS == o 11.3-BETA2 amd64 GENERIC: SHA512 (FreeBSD-11.3-BETA2-amd64-bootonly.iso) = The array had two 1TB disks and I got one 2TB disk there. Now I replaced the second one and tried to growfs it. No good for me. I tried when there was only one disk, got not permitted message. I did the sysctl geomflags. No good also. So I inserted the new disk and tried again. Nothing. I tried both the /dev device and the mounting point. First you need to resize the mirror itself with "gmirror resize" command. Refer to gmirror(8) manual page for details. Then you need to resize last slice or create new slice for available space. If you prefer resize existing slice, use "gpart resize". Only then you will be able to run growfs to utilise new space for file system inside the slice.
