I highly doubt that Brian cares one way or the other. They currently have a large group of ksh tests run by a bespoke python test driver. The issue is that someone would need to convert the test suite and CI to use ATF. The OpenZFS CI will be the first stop for any changes, so adding / fixing tests in the OpenZFS test suite would have the most long term impact. Zeeb from comment #19) I believe it is related to epair, yes. There are some notes in https://reviews.freebsd.org/D20868 My recollection from when I was chasing this is that the problem occurs whe= n a vnet jail (which contains one or more pair interfaces) is destroyed and immediately afterwards the epair interface is destroyed (or possibly the ot= her way around). Destroying the vnet jail moves the epair interface back into the host, but because it's also being destroyed at the same time we end up moving an ifp = into the host which will be freed afterwards. A freed ifp in the host's list of interfaces is obviously a panic waiting to happen. I'm not 100% clear on the exact order of operations here, but I am fully convinced that it's related to interfaces being moved due to a vnet destroy, and epairs destroying two interfaces at a time (i.e. a and b). --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-testing@freebsd.org Thu Nov 21 17:04:42 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-testing@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9B18C1C5435 for ; Thu, 21 Nov 2019 17:04:42 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (unknown [127.0.1.3]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 47JmBf3j1nz4fxp for ; Thu, 21 Nov 2019 17:04:42 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 7D42C1C5434; Thu, 21 Nov 2019 17:04:42 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: testing@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7D09A1C5433 for ; Thu, 21 Nov 2019 17:04:42 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 47JmBf2rPcz4fxm for ; Thu, 21 Nov 2019 17:04:42 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 420EAE700 for ; Thu, 21 Nov 2019 17:04:42 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id xALH4gcU056774 for ; Thu, 21 Nov 2019 17:04:42 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id xALH4gSE056773 for testing@freebsd.org; Thu, 21 Nov 2019 17:04:42 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: testing@freebsd.org Subject: [Bug 238870] sys.netpfil.pf.names.names and sys.netpfil.pf.synproxy.synproxy cause panic Date: Thu, 21 Nov 2019 17:04:40 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: tests X-Bugzilla-Version: CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: patch X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: bz@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: testing@freebsd.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-testing@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Testing on FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 21 Nov 2019 17:04:42 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D238870 --- Comment #21 from Bjoern A. In the old days we did use locks for exclusiv= ity; that probably has changed on the interface lists, etc. with epoch(). Hen= ce are now having two operations running in parallel and not waiting for each other. At least that sounds very likely to me. I can go and have a look = in about 2 weeks to debug and fix this. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-testing@freebsd.org Thu Nov 21 21:48:25 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-testing@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B337C1CBC06; Thu, 21 Nov 2019 21:48:25 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from mmacy@freebsd.org) Received: from smtp.freebsd.org (smtp.freebsd.org [96.47.72.83]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "smtp.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 47JtV149wgz40Bv; Thu, 21 Nov 2019 21:48:25 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from mmacy@freebsd.org) Received: from mail-lj1-f173.google.com (mail-lj1-f173.google.com [209.85.208.173]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 (128/128 bits)) (Client CN "smtp.gmail.com", Issuer "GTS CA 1O1" (verified OK)) (Authenticated sender: mmacy) by smtp.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPSA id 35B31B5A1; Thu, 21 Nov 2019 21:48:25 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from mmacy@freebsd.org) Received: by mail-lj1-f173.google.com with SMTP id e9so4893796ljp.13; Thu, 21 Nov 2019 13:48:25 -0800 (PST) X-Gm-Message-State: APjAAAUGiyyrDO2HI7WDgR9PHOIamobxyJBWkTmvkaz9PG2OE8J5o4SR D3WajhtPiXGLqeMfckzlcFY8i2ML6bDL/B5WCAw= X-Google-Smtp-Source: APXvYqxb3nPrCFBl0pUf98lErUNIrj8y9vspujz7tCS1+d33ClgwhP9Wn1QFheERyXsC3kp6M9D3QMvqEY8HvRIOpOg= X-Received: by 2002:a05:651c:87:: with SMTP id 7mr9784181ljq.20.1574372903762; Thu, 21 Nov 2019 13:48:23 -0800 (PST) MIME-Version: 1.0 References: In-Reply-To: From: Matthew Macy Date: Thu, 21 Nov 2019 13:48:12 -0800 X-Gmail-Original-Message-ID: Message-ID: Subject: Re: Revisiting the ZFS test suite To: Alan Somers Cc: freebsd-fs , freebsd-testing Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.29 X-BeenThere: freebsd-testing@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Testing on FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 21 Nov 2019 21:48:25 -0000 FYI the ZTS TRIM test suite can=E2=80=99t be run on FreeBSD at the moment d= ue to the absence of a hole punching API. https://freebsd-arch.freebsd.narkive.com/JKZnzc4p/hole-punching-trim-etc https://github.com/zfsonlinux/zfs/projects/25 On Fri, Oct 4, 2019 at 09:24 Alan Somers wrote: > My employment status changed last week, and I find myself once again > working on ZFS.
