ep != NULL; ep = ep->next) { if (ep->tdev == kp->ki_tdev) { /* * proc is associated with this terminal */ if (ep->kp == NULL && kp->ki_pgid == kp->ki_tpgid) { /* * Proc is 'most interesting' */ if (proc_compare(ep->kp, kp)) ep->kp = kp; ... } } } Given the (ep->kp == NULL) check, proc_compare() becomes no-op, it will always select kp, and that's the only place we ever set ep->kp, so the first matching process is always "most interesting". If that's really what we want, we could do without the proc_compare() call. What am I missing here? What am I >> missing here? > > I suspect it makes more sense as a "!=" than a "==" (with ep->kp = kp; > always occurring for the "== NULL" case). (ep->kp == NULL) check seems to be unrelated addition in r29310 (!), the code around it gives no hints on why it was added. Example, a sound card has been reversed engineered to work with freebsd, instead of your basic functions you can interact with various userland applications, do messaging functions, or even make things parallel, example is amplify to 5.1 using outside libraries or a hack The kernel is a design to keep hardware happy, if you have coding ability and like making full usage of it, find old drivers and improve them and add your craft to the project I'll write more as I research freebsds kernel From owner-freebsd-hackers@freebsd.org Sat Apr 25 11:59:04 2020 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-hackers@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 27BF32ADBB4 for ; I wrote a small patch to support jail.conf configuration via = /etc/jail.d/{jailname}.conf. I run a lot of jails on my machines and = /etc/ was becoming messy and hard to maintain with = /etc/jail.{jailname}.conf I was wondering if 1) someone can review the patch = https://reviews.freebsd.org/D24570 2) someone can test and find anything = =E2=80=9Codd=E2=80=9D. Thanks in advance! =E2=80=94 antranigv https://antranigv.am/ PGP Key ID: 0xDAB81456 --Apple-Mail=_86292DFF-3A28-4F24-8640-7983D6D8225A Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=signature.asc Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: Message signed with OpenPGP -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQIzBAEBCAAdFiEEfrjE/88u0Kph7jFZYGhrFNq4FFYFAl6kJgEACgkQYGhrFNq4 FFbO2xAAsLyEFX9oKNvmxi5a0IEapZC2a9NA5Y9CDYNe+Nh5W/CCJ0Nmu1lsJC29 r0X/wIjPuexn/rMvs12Wc+Ar1A4rKcy/Rp3evRRzB45WVqj58fRcVCj5hLiJzd3r ge3qMqEYJa5RYUSWi3zd9uaQD1mFCj8BNxVQU7/RVLOcdz1/Y8R7sj5QBCfsV+1O naMZvbNF7W8twqOxNAFlZAVbCcIKw320uw93lCNM7bXqiUE0+G/A2Z9InYE947yJ lsdeyDtoWzHgEYLn9P0jl1t0THIud07TJR0z0KNhnTrT/p/cxSR69U5WTQfEfUT1 bOxSMcOOdu/xMjmP4pz12X9G5tiUDwU/c+UBsqxLYe3m5TFuWqVACKdtSNiJxdu7 AGhUKpfEvYI5Wtq6fi73fmPiVDBnYCqXa3Pwpd2ltkp/YbrzJ0K1CYuH0dPGTL6n Z16kP1pMQXQQH6kr3MGrQLLe40+jN9ZXpQYTE125u85X6q6B2W/vxWIdLchXziDV Cde+6PLYLP6p48i5+hbfE6bpPWxlN21bchN08JeBM3uXH3qUNugsbMfDsVGX9ToO 1gsKclfJyZVuz0bjSvonQhYQaoWx/Qu9VGPa3uX0+DzfUN537hN9e9svQJrzzBrp U8iTpQVB7bO+GEGVO9xQP/o62gAmzZG4qmcNI9c1En5/JiozL6Y= =qYOd -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Apple-Mail=_86292DFF-3A28-4F24-8640-7983D6D8225A--
