I think the vm.debug.divisor simply masks the problem; the underlying bug is still there. Could you go back to the setup which panics, and then test the patch at https://reviews.freebsd.org/D31054? It fixes the scenario described by Warner. I used the default value vm.debug.divisor=1 and both enable_uma_ccbs=1 (which are now the default values on my system). I used the 8TiB disk, which spins up very slowly and usually resulted very quickly in a panic - no panic with the patch. Then using dd to /dev/null (bs=1m) I transferred: 308755+0 records in 308755+0 records out 323753082880 bytes transferred in 1366.162410 secs (236979938 bytes/sec) from the disk, so about 324GiB without a panic. -- Gary Jennejohn From nobody Mon Jul 5 17:45:28 2021 X-Original-To: freebsd-current@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EA1C011D1FB2 for ; I had sent a 2nd message indicating that the details of what caused me to look at usr/share/man/man8/apmd.8.gz were my problem (not yours) and my problem was not a consequence of the: OLD_FILES+=3Dusr/share/man/man8/apmd.8.gz So do not worry about repeating the make install time frame failure, not your problem. Still, the OLD_FILES assignment is incorrect for the goal of your submittal 0a0f7486413c from what I can tell: you added apmd.8.gz and the OLD_FILES causes it to be deleted. I did no checking of usr/share/man/man8/sconfig.8.gz so I've no clue if it has a similar status to usr/share/man/man8/apmd.8.gz or not. =3D=3D=3D Mark Millard marklmi at yahoo.com ( dsl-only.net went away in early 2018-Mar) From nobody Tue Jul 6 10:37:11 2021 X-Original-To: freebsd-current@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A0B5D7CF4DA for ; Tue, 6 Jul 2021 10:37:23 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from eduardo@freebsd.org) Received: from smtp.freebsd.org (smtp.freebsd.org [96.47.72.83]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "smtp.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4GJzX34DbXz3DLs for ; Tue, 6 Jul 2021 10:37:23 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from eduardo@freebsd.org) Received: from mail-ej1-f54.google.com (mail-ej1-f54.google.com [209.85.218.54]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 (128/128 bits)) (Client CN "smtp.gmail.com", Issuer "GTS CA 1O1" (verified OK)) (Authenticated sender: eduardo) by smtp.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPSA id 74ECE6AEA for ; Tue, 6 Jul 2021 10:37:23 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from eduardo@freebsd.org) Received: by mail-ej1-f54.google.com with SMTP id i20so33074104ejw.4 for ; Tue, 06 Jul 2021 03:37:23 -0700 (PDT) X-Gm-Message-State: AOAM530vC9dsCC3f9Fb7iaoholuwwM1xbsyjo7XCSshWWtc6SpCUylkK uEcNfxy7qKCv4dgtU42jtQ4ZuI/q2tdDTt0+eRY= X-Google-Smtp-Source: ABdhPJwSZ4UoAU3ZUTJmFhfvz2XB1KrD4CgZZD10XzL8i/jzGyhwR20+th/KtiNjShmYXPk3kJ+/uCTxZNn37mT+rRw= X-Received: by 2002:a17:907:3c81:: with SMTP id gl1mr18043847ejc.48.1625567842298; Tue, 06 Jul 2021 03:37:22 -0700 (PDT) List-Id: Discussions about the use of FreeBSD-current List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-current List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-current@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 From: Nuno Teixeira Date: Tue, 6 Jul 2021 11:37:11 +0100 X-Gmail-Original-Message-ID: Message-ID: Subject: lost high resolution console with lastest snapshot To: FreeBSD CURRENT Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="000000000000cc752405c67201a7" X-ThisMailContainsUnwantedMimeParts: Y --000000000000cc752405c67201a7 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Hello, I remember having high resolution console at 1920x1080 but due to hardware problems I replaced hdd and installed latest snapshot #0 main-n247671-c5f4772c66d: Thu Jul 1 and now console resolution is very low. Put it in /boot/loader.conf. And one other thing to mention. If the screen resolution itself is incorrect, possibly putting vbe_max_resolution=1920x1080 in /boot/loader.conf could help, as your gop mode 0 seems to be 1920x1080.
