For me it is really useful. Ever since I developed it, I started deploying jails like crazy. In the v1 branch there is an old port, looking for a maintainer I guess. For the moment, the only official way of installing is: pip install git+https://github.com/sadaszewski/focker.git It is not too bad to be honest. I cannot support anything more at this time - apologies for the inconvenience. I think the entirety of Python should be left alone to manage using pip. Pip should take care of the signatures, checksums, etc. It is unrealistic to expect a port for every Python package. Is it supposed to be the case for every language which has its own package manager? R? MATLAB? Go? Julia? Rust? NodeJS? FreeBSD has enough trouble providing working WiFi drivers to be too orthodox about external package managers. Managing "close to the metal" packages and generally packages for languages not having a dedicated package manager is the best approach. I cannot tell FreeBSD users what to do but I decided not to support this. I hope other advantages of the software will convince them to try it. Especially when the "Infrastructure as Code" bit starts appearing hopefully next year. Sorry for the inconvenience.
