As a further try this is what I did : (take in consideration that I'm trying to make a parallel network configuration on Freebsd, since I want to keep vm-bhyve installed. Anyway,I've removed vm-bhyve several times and I tried to configure the bridge network for bhyve, but even in this case it didn't work. In short terms,it worked only the first time, but I haven't been able to repeat succesfully the steps anymore. It's working only if I let vm-bhyve configure the network by itself. This is the initial state of the network / bridge configuration on my FreeBSD with vm-bhyve installed but without starting a virtual machine. marietto@marietto:~ $ ifconfig em0: flags=8963 metric 0 mtu 1500 options=481009b ether e0:d5:5e:e2:1f:22 inet 192.168.1.6 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 media: Ethernet autoselect (1000baseT ) status: active nd6 options=29 lo0: flags=8049 metric 0 mtu 16384 options=680003 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x2 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 groups: lo nd6 options=21 vm-public: flags=8843 metric 0 mtu 1500 ether 0a:77:93:94:d5:77 id 00:00:00:00:00:00 priority 32768 hellotime 2 fwddelay 15 maxage 20 holdcnt 6 proto rstp maxaddr 2000 timeout 1200 root id 00:00:00:00:00:00 priority 32768 ifcost 0 port 0 member: em0 flags=143 ifmaxaddr 0 port 1 priority 128 path cost 20000 groups: bridge vm-switch viid-4c918@ nd6 options=9 Since I already have a bridged interface (vm-public) it does not make any sense to create another one (bridge0),so on the terminal I do : root@marietto:/home/marietto # kldload vmm kldload: can't load vmm: module already loaded or in kernel root@marietto:/home/marietto # ifconfig tap0 create up root@marietto:/home/marietto # ifconfig vm-public addm tap0 so,this is how appear the network configuration on FreeBSD after having configured it like above : root@marietto:/home/marietto # ifconfig em0: flags=8963 metric 0 mtu 1500 options=4810099 ether e0:d5:5e:e2:1f:22 inet 192.168.1.6 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 media: Ethernet autoselect status: no carrier nd6 options=29 lo0: flags=8049 metric 0 mtu 16384 options=680003 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x2 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 groups: lo nd6 options=21 vm-public: flags=8843 metric 0 mtu 1500 ether 0a:77:93:94:d5:77 id 00:00:00:00:00:00 priority 32768 hellotime 2 fwddelay 15 maxage 20 holdcnt 6 proto rstp maxaddr 2000 timeout 1200 root id 00:00:00:00:00:00 priority 32768 ifcost 0 port 0 member: tap0 flags=143 ifmaxaddr 0 port 4 priority 128 path cost 2000000 member: em0 flags=143 ifmaxaddr 0 port 1 priority 128 path cost 20000 groups: bridge vm-switch viid-4c918@ nd6 options=9 tap0: flags=8903 metric 0 mtu 1500 options=80000 ether 58:9c:fc:10:ff:8e groups: tap media: Ethernet autoselect status: no carrier nd6 options=29 Then,I launch the bhyve VM with this commands : bhyve -c 4 -m 8G -w -H \ -s 0,hostbridge \ -s 4,virtio-blk,/mnt/da1p1/vms/os/ubuntu-budgie-gpu/ubuntu-2104-gpu.img \ -s 5,virtio-net,tap0 \ -s 29,fbuf,tcp=0.0.0.0:5900,w=1440,h=900,wait \ -s 30,xhci,tablet \ -s 31,lpc -l com1,stdio \ -l bootrom,/usr/local/share/uefi-firmware/BHYVE_UEFI.fd \ -s 20,hda,play=/dev/dsp8,rec=/dev/dsp8 \ vm0 As I said Ubuntu VM can't connect to the internet. Chernikov AuthorDate: 2021-08-15 22:25:21 +0000 Commit: Alexander V. Chernikov CommitDate: 2021-08-17 20:46:22 +0000 routing: Fix crashes with dpdk_lpm[46] algo. When a prefix gets deleted from the RIB, dpdk_lpm algo needs to know the nexthop of the "parent" prefix to update its internal state. The glue code, which utilises RIB as a backing route store, uses fib[46]_lookup_rt() for the prefix destination after its deletion to fetch the desired nexthop. This approach does not work when deleting less-specific prefixes with most-specific ones are still present. For example, if 10.0.0.0/24, 10.0.0.0/23 and 10.0.0.0/22 exist in RIB, deleting 10.0.0.0/23 would result in 10.0.0.0/24 being returned as a search result instead of 10.0.0.0/22. This, in turn, results in the failed datastructure update: part of the deleted /23 prefix will still contain the reference to an old nexthop. This leads to the use-after-free behaviour, ending with the eventual crashes. Fix the logic flaw by properly fetching the prefix "parent" via newly-created rt_get_inet[6]_parent() helpers. We do= n't take Opnsense bug reports here any more than we take Playstation or Netflix= OCA bug reports. I agree with Kristof that we need more information and the vendor/project needs to help qualify what and where iss= ues are first or this will fatigue devs if it turn into a raw support forum for issues like that. If there is an obvious FreeBSD defect (for instance a panic in unmodified c= ode) I'd send it here right away. Otherwise I think you should figure out how to help users produce more qualified reports, a debug bundle including things = like dmesg, pciconf -lv, relevant sysctls (to include stats ones for the NIC), netstat etc is the standard Mellanox wants when I interact with them in my dayjob, maybe worth consideration here. In this case I'd suggest a more di= rect approach of some 'top' output while bw limited, and even better some pmcstat for at least instructions retired https://wiki.freebsd.org/PmcTools/PmcTop. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Sun Aug 22 17:51:38 2021 X-Original-To: net@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0C20817727D8 for ; Sun, 22 Aug 2021 17:51:39 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4Gt2xQ6kzGz3MXm for ; Sun, 22 Aug 2021 17:51:38 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id CF81825062 for ; Sun, 22 Aug 2021 17:51:38 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 17MHpcGB060109 for ; Sun, 22 Aug 2021 17:51:38 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 17MHpc8W060108 for net@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 22 Aug 2021 17:51:38 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: net@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 257989] Traffic shaper unable to perform beyond 1Gbit/s limit Date: Sun, 22 Aug 2021 17:51:38 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: misc X-Bugzilla-Version: Unspecified X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: franco@opnsense.org X-Bugzilla-Status: Closed X-Bugzilla-Resolution: Not Enough Information X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: net@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: Networking and TCP/IP with FreeBSD List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-net List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-net@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 X-ThisMailContainsUnwantedMimeParts: N https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D257989 --- Comment #7 from Franco Fichtner --- As far as Kristof's line of argumentation is concerned I'll take note of the hostility that has (elsewhere) never sparked any useful result in the past.= I don't blame him and I know where this is coming from. ;) I do get what you are asking, but if we as a core team try to force hours of qualifying user reports for at least 67 upstream projects of varying scope = and source code and complexity and rules without any pledge of hand-over is a w= aste of time between involved projects. That's also assuming we don't spend any time on our own code. It's not a realistic attitude. But as I said I agree that reporters need to do more here if you let them. The only project that gave such a pledge is Suricata and they did include a= ll of FreeBSD because of it making it a tier 1 priority. I've personally seen issues lay dormant for years, patch-ready reports time out, committers nowhere to be found (src and ports alike(. If this wasn't = the case I wouldn't try to argue here that this is one step below, but it is.
