--- Comment #36 from Kubilay Kocak <koobs@FreeBSD.org> ---
(In reply to Daniel Menelkir from comment #34)

Ahh sorry.

TEST_DEPENDS are for dependencies on ports that the port depends on for the
'test' target' (like BUILD / RUN depends for other stages)

You can declare a test target as:

do-test:=20
   @cd ${WRKSRC} && ${PYTHON_CMD} -m ....

There are also TEST_ENV and other TEST_* variables if you want to use them.

** The following ports have a version number that sorts before a previous one **

For many package tools to work correctly, it is of utmost importance that
version numbers of a port form a monotonic increasing sequence over time.
Refer to the FreeBSD Porter's Handbook, 'Package Naming Conventions' for
more information. Tools that won't work include pkg_version, portupgrade
and portaudit. A common error is an accidental deletion of PORTEPOCH.

Please fix any errors as soon as possible.

--- Comment #3 from Kubilay Kocak <koobs@FreeBSD.org> ---
(In reply to Kubilay Kocak from comment #2)

I missed this in the review, but Kai (via IRC) notes that 'toml' should be
satisfied via the TOML option in setuptools_scm, which is enabled by defaul=
t,
so this is likely a case of that option being disabled.

Is that the case Philipp?

Nevertheless, ports (like this one) must depend explicitly on their
dependencies optional dependencies (transitively), and not rely on their
presence (which, is... optional).

Kubilay: Thank you. As you said, the disabled TOML option in
devel/py-setuptools_scm caused the issue.

The ports tree was updated at Tue Jun 29 2021 12:30:00 UTC.

@Reporter Can you detail how this works with respect to standard modes of p=
ort
installation and dependencies, the virtualenv process and behaviour,
particularly with respect to dependency versions as they get updated by pip
over time, versus whats installed by ports/pkg.

(In reply to Kubilay Kocak from comment #3)

This port (py-homeassistant only) does not respect FreeBSD ports deps, I
suppose.

First attempt was to make standard port that installs all deps during
installation from ports tree.
I success with this, but HA is useless/unsupportable in this mode: it starts
and you can configure it. But then you try to add some integration - HA rep=
ort
that you have missed deps. (There is an app argument to disable pip auto
installer)
There is 1800 "integrations" (plugins):
https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/ this mean that complete port wi=
ll
all features will require to install more than 2000 ports. We have no most =
of
these ports in ports tree.
And I can not do this work.

In current state port installs all requirements to allow it to bootstrap.
And some ports that auto loaded at bootstrap by pip.
I'am force to downgrade some pip packets versions to use python packets from
system.
Probably better will be remove all additional ports and let pip install it.

As far as I understand HA install via pip all packets that missed or version
mismatch.
Original HA deps mostly have fixed versions (=3D=3D x.y.z), and I replace i=
t to >=3D
for some ports from ports tree.

Bootstrap is in homeassistant_precmd().
Without this HA will require more ports to start first time and produce some
errors at first 1-2 attempt to start.

First port version was done in time of python 3.7.
After update python to 3.8 and reinstall HA it bootstrap and download all 3=
.8
pip packets into /var/db/homeassistant/deps/lib/python3.8/site-packages.
I remove by hands /var/db/homeassistant/deps/lib/python3.7 to clean up spac=
e.

Current port state: it is installs and work, but have some non critical iss=
ues:
1. on info page /config/info it does not show that it is Virtual Environment
2. chromium does not work with web ui, some error in script
3. ff some times glitches in web ui, refresh page fix this
Probably all these issues may be fixed if more ports will have version that=
 HA
requires instead of that I force to use from ports tree.

I run it few days and have few integrations: IPP, MQTT+tasmota (mosquitto, 1
device: ESP8266+BME680), mobile app (4 devices), weather - all works fine.
"recorder" configured to use mariadb (db_url: mysql+pymysql://...).

The ports tree was updated at Wed Jun 30 2021 12:30:00 UTC.

Dear port maintainer,

The portscout new distfile checker has detected that one or more of your
ports appears to be out of date. Please take the opportunity to check
each of the ports listed below, and if possible and appropriate,
submit/commit an update. If any ports have already been updated, you can
safely ignore the entry.

You will not be e-mailed again for any of the port/version combinations
below.

Full details can be found at the following URL:
http://portscout.freebsd.org/python@freebsd.org.html

** The following ports have a version number that sorts before a previous one **

For many package tools to work correctly, it is of utmost importance that
version numbers of a port form a monotonic increasing sequence over time.
Refer to the FreeBSD Porter's Handbook, 'Package Naming Conventions' for
more information. Tools that won't work include pkg_version, portupgrade
and portaudit. A common error is an accidental deletion of PORTEPOCH.

Please fix any errors as soon as possible.

The ports tree was updated at Thu Jul 1 2021 12:30:00 UTC.

https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D256923

            Bug ID: 256923
           Summary: textproc/py-sphinx: remove dependency to
                    security/ca_root_nss or make it configurable
           Product: Ports & Packages
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Some People
          Priority: ---
         Component: Individual Port(s)
          Assignee: ports-bugs@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: michael.osipov@siemens.com
                CC: ports-secteam@FreeBSD.org, python@FreeBSD.org
                CC: ports-secteam@FreeBSD.org, python@FreeBSD.org

Depending on this port has a few issues:

* It is not clear why a documentation generation system depends on this port
* It pulls in the entire tree for Perl
* FreeBSD now has certctl(8) managed trust store which makes ca_root_nss
obsolete
* Pulling it causes this issue:
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D256902

Consider removing this port or make it configurable because cert management=
 is
a admin's task and not a port one's.

Kubilay Kocak <koobs@FreeBSD.org> has asked freebsd-python (Nobody)
<python@FreeBSD.org> for maintainer-feedback:
Bug 256923: textproc/py-sphinx: Remove or make OPTION'al dependency on
security/ca_root_nss dependency
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D256923

--- Comment #1 from Kubilay Kocak <koobs@FreeBSD.org> ---
Investigate:

 - Nature of requirement for ca_root_nss. Possible workaround?
 - UX considerations for OPTIONAL ca_root_nss (in particular, disabled case)
 - Alternative root cause resolutions

Note; while cert management isn't a ports domain, the default and out of box
experience with respect to validation of remote servers is. There's an enti=
re
history of bug and user reports going back a long way [1][2] (among others),
and we still don't cover all the bases.

--- Comment #2 from Michael Osipov <michael.osipov@siemens.com> ---
(In reply to Kubilay Kocak from comment #1)

While I understand the out of the box exprience, but since certctl(8) is th=
ere,
there is very little need for ca_root_nss or I simply don't understand why =
it
is still required. I expect every OpenSSL aware application to set default
verification paths unless it is overridden by some means.

I did a test run for our base ports with and without ca_root_nss on sphinx.=
 I
am from 120 packages down to 60 just because perl is out of the game.

X-Mailer: portscout/0.8.1

Dear port maintainer,

The portscout new distfile checker has detected that one or more of your
ports appears to be out of date. Please take the opportunity to check
each of the ports listed below, and if possible and appropriate,
submit/commit an update. If any ports have already been updated, you can
safely ignore the entry.

You will not be e-mailed again for any of the port/version combinations
below.

Full details can be found at the following URL:
http://portscout.freebsd.org/python@freebsd.org.html

Port | Current version | New version
------------------------------------------------+-----------------+------------
devel/nuitka | 0.6.16 | 0.6.16.2
------------------------------------------------+-----------------+------------

If any of the above results are invalid, please check the following page
for details on how to improve portscout's detection and selection of
distfiles on a per-port basis:

** The following ports have a version number that sorts before a previous one **

For many package tools to work correctly, it is of utmost importance that
version numbers of a port form a monotonic increasing sequence over time.
Refer to the FreeBSD Porter's Handbook, 'Package Naming Conventions' for
more information. Tools that won't work include pkg_version, portupgrade
and portaudit. A common error is an accidental deletion of PORTEPOCH.

Please fix any errors as soon as possible.

The ports tree was updated at Sun Jul 4 2021 12:30:00 UTC.
