Some time ago these two commits were made: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports?view=revision&revision=552836 https://svnweb.freebsd.org/ports?view=revision&revision=552839 Maybe I'm wrong and this is unrelated but there are similarities. Can you check the options on the gvfs port? the GOA option should be disabled, but I suggest you match the defaults on the port. If you're using the official binary packages the options should be correct, anyway you can try forcing reinstallation of gvfs and glib. -- Guido Falsi From owner-freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org Tue Jan 26 14:57:38 2021 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-xfce@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 66E6F4F213E for ; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 14:57:38 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gerrit.kuehn@aei.mpg.de) Received: from mailgate2.uni-hannover.de (mailgate2.uni-hannover.de [130.75.2.114]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4DQ8wd5QGvz4VNP for ; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 14:57:37 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gerrit.kuehn@aei.mpg.de) Received: from intranet.aei.uni-hannover.de (ahin1.aei.uni-hannover.de [130.75.117.40]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mailgate2.uni-hannover.de (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 22F211824; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:57:35 +0100 (CET) Received: from arc.aei.uni-hannover.de ([130.75.117.1]) by intranet.aei.uni-hannover.de (IBM Domino Release 9.0.1FP8) with ESMTP id 2021012615573491-27766 ; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:57:34 +0100 Date: Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:57:32 +0100 From: Gerrit =?UTF-8?B?S8O8aG4=?= To: Guido Falsi Cc: freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org Subject: Re: extreme window open delay, missing menu highlight Message-ID: <20210126155732.10dfc357@arc.aei.uni-hannover.de> In-Reply-To: <9d2e9d13-ca3e-c694-cbda-4900c65b264a@madpilot.net> References: <20210121181216.58e8a61f@comet2.terra.ger> <2b3335fe-a409-1748-779b-62815cc28ad6@madpilot.net> <96c9ef00-6718-1023-226f-ae15ef75b959@madpilot.net> <20210126133312.76c0e6a1@arc.aei.uni-hannover.de> <9d2e9d13-ca3e-c694-cbda-4900c65b264a@madpilot.net> Organization: AEI X-Mailer: Claws Mail 3.17.8 (GTK+ 2.24.33; amd64-portbld-freebsd12.1) MIME-Version: 1.0 X-MIMETrack: Itemize by SMTP Server on intranet/aei-hannover(Release 9.0.1FP8|February 23, 2017) at 26/01/2021 15:57:34, Serialize by Router on intranet/aei-hannover(Release 9.0.1FP8|February 23, 2017) at 26/01/2021 15:57:35, Serialize complete at 26/01/2021 15:57:35 X-TNEFEvaluated: 1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII X-Virus-Scanned: clamav-milter 0.102.4 at mailgate2 X-Virus-Status: Clean X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: 4DQ8wd5QGvz4VNP X-Spamd-Bar: -- Authentication-Results: mx1.freebsd.org; dkim=none; dmarc=none; spf=none (mx1.freebsd.org: domain of gerrit.kuehn@aei.mpg.de has no SPF policy when checking 130.75.2.114) smtp.mailfrom=gerrit.kuehn@aei.mpg.de X-Spamd-Result: default: False [-2.30 / 15.00]; ARC_NA(0.00)[]; NEURAL_HAM_MEDIUM(-1.00)[-1.000]; FROM_HAS_DN(0.00)[]; TO_DN_SOME(0.00)[]; NEURAL_HAM_LONG(-1.00)[-1.000]; MIME_GOOD(-0.10)[text/plain]; DMARC_NA(0.00)[mpg.de]; AUTH_NA(1.00)[]; HAS_ORG_HEADER(0.00)[]; RCVD_COUNT_THREE(0.00)[3]; TO_MATCH_ENVRCPT_SOME(0.00)[]; RCVD_IN_DNSWL_MED(-0.20)[130.75.2.114:from]; RCPT_COUNT_TWO(0.00)[2]; NEURAL_HAM_SHORT(-1.00)[-1.000]; R_SPF_NA(0.00)[no SPF record]; FROM_EQ_ENVFROM(0.00)[]; R_DKIM_NA(0.00)[]; MIME_TRACE(0.00)[0:+]; ASN(0.00)[asn:680, ipnet:130.75.0.0/16, country:DE]; RCVD_TLS_LAST(0.00)[]; MAILMAN_DEST(0.00)[freebsd-xfce] X-BeenThere: freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.34 Precedence: list List-Id: XFCE for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 26 Jan 2021 14:57:38 -0000 Am Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:37:12 +0100 schrieb Guido Falsi : > > --- > > Error creating proxy: Timeout was reached (g-io-error-quark, 24) > > --- > Can you check the options on the gvfs port? the GOA option should be > disabled, but I suggest you match the defaults on the port. > > If you're using the official binary packages the options should be > correct, anyway you can try forcing reinstallation of gvfs and glib. Most probably reinstalling will not fix this then. But sat this point I'm convinced the network is somewhat involved. Any remote file systems involved in all this? Now the only thing left to fix is the startup timeout/delay. cu Gerrit From owner-freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org Tue Jan 26 15:18:39 2021 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-xfce@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 411754F2957 for ; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:18:39 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (mailman.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:13]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4DQ9Nv0g6Cz4X8L for ; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:18:39 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 16A544F2C15; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:18:39 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: xfce@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 166094F2778 for ; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:18:39 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4DQ9Nt5YB5z4XGb for ; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:18:38 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id B1E433C08 for ; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:18:38 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 10QFIcFg061501 for ; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:18:38 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 10QFIcBU061500 for xfce@FreeBSD.org; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:18:38 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: xfce@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 244290] x11-wm/xfce4 does not see up arrow after reinstall Date: Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:18:38 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Ports & Packages X-Bugzilla-Component: Individual Port(s) X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: patch X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: madpilot@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: In Progress X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: xfce@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: maintainer-feedback+ merge-quarterly+ X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: bug_status Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.34 Precedence: list List-Id: XFCE for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:18:39 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D244290 Guido Falsi changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|Open |In Progress --- Comment #62 from Guido Falsi --- (In reply to Conrad Meyer from comment #61) > Even if it caused a 30 second vty<->Xorg switch delay, that seems better = to > me than a broken up arrow. After pondering about this a bit more, I found the following note when reinstalling polkit once more: --- [1/1] Extracting polkit-0.118: 100% You may need to manually remove /usr/local/etc/dbus-1/system.d/org.freedesktop.PolicyKit1.conf if it is no longer needed. --- And indeed, the file is gone again. So the state of the system above was as designed (whithout the file), but it didn't work for me. So something's fishy here. Either the system should work without the file, or the message is wrong. cu Gerrit From owner-freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org Tue Jan 26 15:25:56 2021 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-xfce@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6F6594F2D7E for ; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:25:56 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gerrit.kuehn@aei.mpg.de) Received: from mailgate2.uni-hannover.de (mailgate2.uni-hannover.de [130.75.2.114]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4DQ9YH6gTzz4XpF for ; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:25:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gerrit.kuehn@aei.mpg.de) Received: from intranet.aei.uni-hannover.de (ahin1.aei.uni-hannover.de [130.75.117.40]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by mailgate2.uni-hannover.de (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 9A247191F; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 16:25:54 +0100 (CET) Received: from arc.aei.uni-hannover.de ([130.75.117.1]) by intranet.aei.uni-hannover.de (IBM Domino Release 9.0.1FP8) with ESMTP id 2021012616255427-27817 ; Tue, 26 Jan 2021 16:25:54 +0100 Date: Tue, 26 Jan 2021 16:25:54 +0100 From: Gerrit =?UTF-8?B?S8O8aG4=?= To: Guido Falsi Cc: freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org Subject: Re: extreme window open delay, missing menu highlight Message-ID: <20210126162554.63783da9@arc.aei.uni-hannover.de> In-Reply-To: <4c85537c-0fea-1aa5-3c10-905478b601a9@madpilot.net> References: <20210121181216.58e8a61f@comet2.terra.ger> <2b3335fe-a409-1748-779b-62815cc28ad6@madpilot.net> <96c9ef00-6718-1023-226f-ae15ef75b959@madpilot.net> <20210126133312.76c0e6a1@arc.aei.uni-hannover.de> <9d2e9d13-ca3e-c694-cbda-4900c65b264a@madpilot.net> <20210126155732.10dfc357@arc.aei.uni-hannover.de> <4c85537c-0fea-1aa5-3c10-905478b601a9@madpilot.net> Organization: AEI X-Mailer: Claws Mail 3.17.8 (GTK+ 2.24.33; amd64-portbld-freebsd12.1) MIME-Version: 1.0 X-MIMETrack: Itemize by SMTP Server on intranet/aei-hannover(Release 9.0.1FP8|February 23, 2017) at 26/01/2021 16:25:54, Serialize by Router on intranet/aei-hannover(Release 9.0.1FP8|February 23, 2017) at 26/01/2021 16:25:54, Serialize complete at 26/01/2021 16:25:54 X-TNEFEvaluated: 1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII X-Virus-Scanned: clamav-milter 0.102.4 at mailgate2 X-Virus-Status: Clean X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: 4DQ9YH6gTzz4XpF X-Spamd-Bar: -- Authentication-Results: mx1.freebsd.org; dkim=none; dmarc=none; spf=none (mx1.freebsd.org: domain of gerrit.kuehn@aei.mpg.de has no SPF policy when checking 130.75.2.114) smtp.mailfrom=gerrit.kuehn@aei.mpg.de X-Spamd-Result: default: False [-2.30 / 15.00]; ARC_NA(0.00)[]; NEURAL_HAM_MEDIUM(-1.00)[-1.000]; FROM_HAS_DN(0.00)[]; TO_DN_SOME(0.00)[]; NEURAL_HAM_LONG(-1.00)[-1.000]; MIME_GOOD(-0.10)[text/plain]; DMARC_NA(0.00)[mpg.de]; AUTH_NA(1.00)[]; HAS_ORG_HEADER(0.00)[]; RCVD_COUNT_THREE(0.00)[3]; TO_MATCH_ENVRCPT_SOME(0.00)[]; RCVD_IN_DNSWL_MED(-0.20)[130.75.2.114:from]; RCPT_COUNT_TWO(0.00)[2]; NEURAL_HAM_SHORT(-1.00)[-1.000]; R_SPF_NA(0.00)[no SPF record]; FROM_EQ_ENVFROM(0.00)[]; R_DKIM_NA(0.00)[]; MIME_TRACE(0.00)[0:+]; ASN(0.00)[asn:680, ipnet:130.75.0.0/16, country:DE]; RCVD_TLS_LAST(0.00)[]; MAILMAN_DEST(0.00)[freebsd-xfce] X-BeenThere: freebsd-xfce@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.34 Precedence: list List-Id: XFCE for FreeBSD -- porting and maintaining List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 26 Jan 2021 15:25:56 -0000 Am Tue, 26 Jan 2021 16:15:49 +0100 schrieb Guido Falsi : > > The program where I can reproduce this issue most reliably appears to > > be claws-mail (which does not depend on gvfs as far as I can see, just > > glib/libgio). > Most probably reinstalling will not fix this then. Any file marked as a configuration file in the port will trigger that message when the port is removed (upgrading entails removing the port and reinstalling). pkg should leave the file there and only modify the .sample one on upgrade. It simply informs you you can remove configuration files for software you no longer use. Don't know why you end up missing the file.
