Or, may be I should form the idea as questions: What is the minimal form of having amdgpu.ko loaded in the system? Can that be tested (if it has not been already)? Does this minimal form behave any differently than more involved use of amdgpu.ko (and the associated card firmware)? In a different direction . . . In/for a separate context, I once built amdgpu and its firmware and installed it. But I did not set up an automatic load. For the rare test, I manually loaded amdgpu and then started lumina. (It is an old memory. I might not have the details correct.) This procedure might have largely avoided later loads of kernel modules and, so, avoided discovering a problem. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. If we're failing on arm64, that likely m= eans that we've missed some busdma thing to ensure things are coherent in that environment... That's why the controller is likely finding completed items = not in the queue... Or there's some race between inserting it into the queue, setting its state and reading it back out of the pending list when we're tr= ying to complete... Or we're seeing 'stale' data for the completion records, tho= ugh I suspect that's a bit less likely... I don't have an arm64 machine I can add in mpr or mps cards. It is the only concurrent access at that moment. I would formulate it differently: No other thread might legitimately get access to the buffer using either bread() or getblk() until current io operation finishes. The io operation is handled in two contexts: top-level, where a thread used getblk() as usual to claim buffer ownership, and completion thread context (geom up thread). The completion code legitimately manipulates the buffer, because the top-level code expects that after the buffer strategy routine is called, effectively moving the ownership to the geom up thread. I noticed that after almost every panic, passing "reset" to kdb will NOT re= set the system, but mpr0 will dump a bit more to the console and then take me to another kdb prompt. Eg comment #c2 we can see mpr0 still emitting more to t= he console after both a "db> reset" and a subsequent "db> reboot". Even more so when I enable full debugging 0x07ff, the zpool import actually works! And I am able to interact with non-zfs drives a little bit as well. = All of this to me points to bad timeouts somewhere. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Fri Mar 17 05:22:39 2023 X-Original-To: fs@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4PdCFC2btDz405sw for ; Fri, 17 Mar 2023 05:22:39 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4PdCFC0WfXz3xnL for ; Fri, 17 Mar 2023 05:22:39 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1679030559; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=Uia672rDsKr+ypA7ELnevTY3JKCCvBvghmIgsPpr46s=; b=moh95W5gB/ORBHQHgO6VIf8datGywQnx1I+b205PsuXdhjR+SEnz+954n5VMeIgn5faxkX w/boA6WkhjelYu8sTd8jh/Tm6FhtBCnwqaH53KKQqTfyCZ0PFiPIBu7m5Kq9u+aLSOuW9F XVN2d/uGiBlexcSdfYPZ6oXYQ7O9gVr4CANiwEMQgHnLNSAfUsow+B/wnwpZdvjr8IS8wA /nRciEtnUn/L7nPogLzJvR9EyRNyqrOgTzbO/S6Vjv4Sqf20e8eagvxRDHLyzzFPdJkAA4 Z+wiZUtjcOgoDADEbyn7VI26KULZhklYqIAJTzAmjmEjNNLojfvPCMA6jol0mg== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1679030559; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=j9p9yOKwAvn3gg1YdUNsoseTlX/Pp4PNnTSH0UH+kR7gg5Me8P9UE20HCFujvBYs12xI7f qy1E73hPvNH2ZP+lEMv83RNsmcl0XlVu9PiSseGbgPCagQ027fzulMC6qFrvBqhYa5kf4X 9sAfPnVAUTUT2MRSPUMIogXgwUDKDGBIJHqVX/ymiJMrlxcz2hnozU458WUy3mHKoI1bff IIS9rNFnbpPNy8s9Pgp5UKfs5kDCiodnwvL98Cr+0AuHmdmAVWqJLy9g7bNmoNeOnnBpJv 3KZnNnNIRxiuI5HJw9gi0crGAfhbEMy//cmilvPBg09UVdtYB7Im46BLbH6UOA== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4PdCFB6jN0z1Cj7 for ; Fri, 17 Mar 2023 05:22:38 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 32H5McJb064783 for ; Fri, 17 Mar 2023 05:22:38 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 32H5McfH064782 for fs@FreeBSD.org; Fri, 17 Mar 2023 05:22:38 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: fs@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 267028] kernel panics when booting with both (zfs,ko or vboxnetflt,ko or acpi_wmi.ko) and amdgpu.ko Date: Fri, 17 Mar 2023 05:22:39 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 13.1-RELEASE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: crash, needs-qa X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: marklmi26-fbsd@yahoo.com X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: fs@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: maintainer-feedback? maintainer-feedback? Basically: doing the amdgpu load as late as possible relative to everything else loaded, limiting what all loads after amdgpu. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
