I'm quite sure that the patch is required on main as well, i.e., the panic = is not specific to stable/13. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Tue Jun 6 17:35:36 2023 X-Original-To: geom@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4QbHgX6NYjz4Zg1C for ; Tue, 6 Jun 2023 17:35:36 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4QbHgX5BtPz4DQH for ; Tue, 6 Jun 2023 17:35:36 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1686072936; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=7yQx9iuJ/6ctnXzejrY7gQfMPbPs+p67j22VRrZyFkI=; b=j/UU4wufWsawdCsUsvxuswFEZVqFq3C1DpCigzWQfz5Djn03h5o4S1i8twQYYnGR9v4yaX gAF4EP63L8G6fFzG0cRiRnLJBnt8RQyGNOy332yC/gQM6r7Vz8nJ9BMbJh9koxpEPJEn+g sd7AVQ0HhTKnr5zx2su6yDajPYqgEI4folQrxY11aQo6/UIRPx+Jr5leLGxfHF457ZNeWo ENJET9SNcfqCzUezMhjVDY8b4uw28ORjac4gwg9gf3GHyNkDD0ww0W/4r3PoKDtKd1/WcB GqaDP8Wca9Eq89KUbOkF2HOb9FEO17Yb3hcFQ0eZAy9mV2Q5rQnXHBMmiNR8/Q== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1686072936; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=l9mup60e5AjYMeuQYPbJZu1X/woX6/+x/lUW5fA7cs2Ka+SLimp/Dadu+9/JupGNqesOHz iYJxgJD5DRo1j2+2DOUzPFFRJXtAIaB7czzLiiuw9jm7PY6PPoRv1AO8lGIlOn/TGAfFXO tGrZVWp7LJ9J3hT9O6ojO0CZtRNEkl48dGWuxgN6CefokP+i7gn4+d9m77z/nxSYlSeXls NFZupWmUZMA1b89CkoyftQceLYIBN+9tesqs1pOBxaOfNwJFgc5AHltXIDJI6c2VOER7qi WD/8JuiE2TNoy67+ROC53zo0IT1xeC8rRgQBGuKJVVby2KUWJK5tAjm/VX15CQ== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4QbHgX49VRzfBB for ; Tue, 6 Jun 2023 17:35:36 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 356HZaWl048769 for ; Tue, 6 Jun 2023 17:35:36 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 356HZas6048768 for geom@FreeBSD.org; Tue, 6 Jun 2023 17:35:36 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: geom@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 271766] dumpfs fails on geli devices: cylinder group checks failed Date: Tue, 06 Jun 2023 17:35:36 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 13.2-RELEASE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: crash X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: andrew@tao11.riddles.org.uk X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: geom@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: GEOM-specific discussions and implementations List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-geom List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-geom@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 X-ThisMailContainsUnwantedMimeParts: N https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D271766 --- Comment #15 from Andrew "RhodiumToad" Gierth --- (In reply to Mark Johnston from comment #14) Tried the patch on stable/13; it does avoid the crash, but the discrepancies still happen; the logic around spanning a page boundary is still clearly wr= ong. That patch looks good to me, considering that src is computed from *cc->cc_vmpage and cc->cc_offset and hence the manual advance needs to be d= one for dst. It looks like the code causing the panic was introduced in FreeBSD 13.0 (9c0e3d3a534c3e3e7f6bfce0a150ed2a0841685a and a017868e281874261a560ba1e3069b4e14b7483e) and the code causing the data corruption was introduced in 13.0 as well (e6f6d0c9bcbf7942c390f65062054ec4784ce5b8). So I guess both patches would n= eed to be applied to main and stable/13? I tested both reproducers (dumpfs and Andrew's code) on 12.4 and indeed there were no crashes and no errors repor= ted. One question remains for me: Is there a chance that a mounted file system inside a GELI-encrypted block device would be affected from this and hence = be corrupted or is this code path only triggered by dumpfs? --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Wed Jun 7 20:14:25 2023 X-Original-To: geom@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4Qbz8L2J9Zz4b8dF for ; Wed, 7 Jun 2023 20:14:26 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4Qbz8K2nWhz44tD for ; Wed, 7 Jun 2023 20:14:25 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1686168865; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=DHa8I8cdSHFRnjrcdlbfJoEdiInHzNXQ/sCLH5rFGQc=; b=Lt7vLztvXUeLJ2k2KSUXp3iJbr/VxMLgddR9kJQR4Gc8FuKwFv/ZZx0PBzN/CJTvPhCkDg IPoOv13Razj0Mb/IdpWok3W25BO3RR++Befnhtk8gwLKttOgxPJcV6BtbPPoRrU7cnq56Y 0m1CfJeKbeAnfJK9l+14fbPe6f8PZPEaNJX1rkUhQj5l5VTRcpLfKyquqTr8brhsKlrrjG qCf+OwJ6w9eGBsO56cb8LQQF/zOBu+Ux1t+ll9b7KhGrslOMRNhr1QWAWVREKa8sXI7cLY FgSyofo29MOhC2By8QeG+SKwLdshSRzFTu1ZtoeP0QANK8crSbgqCDQnDDGc5g== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1686168865; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=LDILnXCdn42p01+6SaG6+BVs90kiDci+KCfhv11GvzSvw2r1+oEnpnlD34uSHvdvRRq2e5 tk4X1BWiVatb+8o9HxGuieJpOqYJzTyk0ftJuGpJr/5huIpOQ6LO7D74yjGHmwXU+8zYEl o6GfQ8EcOSAuX8QroVqIDkNByDt/ownSoPVwLyrcJhz/zesnslT/SqbJusPU2DqbZa7t6v AtEtsVmbxN4+iFTW06nQvMikz/gorRHC92g4t5N1ok8Q/tfWC+fHW62OFJjdAmcRvFsMA7 of9k5rYojgsb2JNIZQyQpLuBz9H2uEPxNMIYF+z1SvqdA8YdtojQi8UOcQ2J9Q== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4Qbz8K1sykzQGT for ; Wed, 7 Jun 2023 20:14:25 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 357KEP0l096595 for ; Wed, 7 Jun 2023 20:14:25 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 357KEPRP096594 for geom@FreeBSD.org; Wed, 7 Jun 2023 20:14:25 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: geom@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 271766] dumpfs fails on geli devices: cylinder group checks failed Date: Wed, 07 Jun 2023 20:14:25 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 13.2-RELEASE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: crash X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: markj@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: In Progress X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: markj@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: bug_status assigned_to Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: GEOM-specific discussions and implementations List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-geom List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-geom@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 X-ThisMailContainsUnwantedMimeParts: N https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D271766 Mark Johnston changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|Open |In Progress Assignee|geom@FreeBSD.org |markj@FreeBSD.org --- Comment #18 from Mark Johnston --- (In reply to Michael La=C3=9F from comment #17) Right. The patches will be committed to main and MFCed to stable/13. As Andrew's test case demonstrates, there may be other programs which are affected. It depends on the alignment of the buffer used to read or write = to a GELI block device. Data read or written through a filesystem is unlikely t= o be affected, as filesystems will generally align their buffers. Note also that the bug is not triggered if aesni(4) is loaded (default in main, enabled automatically by bsdinstall for ZFS-on-GELI). --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.=
