Two of the machines was suffering from the SSL problem, that has now been fixed. Originally bug #274995 One of the machines has another problem (not SSL related), which is what th= is bug report originally addressed, "Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller not being detected". The machine with the problem runs with a MSI MAG B660M MORTAR motherboard w= ith a Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller which isn't detected. # dmesg|grep ethernet pci4: at device 0.0 (no driver attached) I have tried both with the native FreeBSD driver and this evening with the v1.99 version of the realtek-re-kmod driver (which I compiled). None of the drivers work. The card is not detected at all. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Sun Dec 17 21:00:23 2023 X-Original-To: net@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4Stb2J22jGz54FGs for ; Sun, 17 Dec 2023 21:00:24 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4Stb2H68G7z3YSR for ; Sun, 17 Dec 2023 21:00:23 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1702846823; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=UEDIbNnFJopx0qSgXurum2sN8Fc6KQOE7PzUFlHhTUCDvRNWK/JwlaHfc8MMEo0r/alBVH mPoiV+vnfqgoPbml2ebML5jcWaw2gsRL/6GeE1m9V0UtNofczPDhd5irNnEJ5erU3sF+Ap 0hHs8lp+sC1fnj7YaNMJhX8YGhrCOXQuD6yHxJ50Rq04esrNncW1AXmdG8o7r8Swa/6leR uXTB827/S6k+WUnn/VusTSudnl0JKe7/eFiVbFOxwwxrfFx60sICtDZDFzYSlxZHitOi9A xaNg0T9egr9nijal563csGbOF5sinfhGBmJkmQYJooZGu7a47vDO+0+VD1QFsA== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1702846823; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding; bh=6D+iE8aWTqNpTqmTOhgiG27RVibMHD2HECs6W/VxVZI=; b=V65YbnuJ2kn2i4Ye06OII9PMizGDvYtb3BX2vrQmOcBCdTF8BwOktQuFkUOu/G8aWdfnhK oMjNFSQWiZFi7EVuQy/YFX/wchigITdsG2Zzqrl5xYdk/c4sCGgf5ycKlck3LFJ46DiYAW SwMuA+XUlWwmqBAEUqUCbr9WSL6jOtMUND7c/CoBGPifjET7Zu3mU3lvs5Et1dehG0dto1 AWHFl3AeQWlF1xkF9a5GGZzwE4N3tzCAIWtr2OBCrlAqTK6mCU6uM+kVAr5j5cApXRsTS1 PettwHBWJUtsod/KRfIIuLumUh2E5DjZtD6jA12nom6gI1Ikv/qkiU6rvk1aXw== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4Stb2H5GmXzsxr for ; Sun, 17 Dec 2023 21:00:23 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 3BHL0NIF010446 for ; Sun, 17 Dec 2023 21:00:23 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from bugzilla@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 3BHL0N7A010445 for net@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 17 Dec 2023 21:00:23 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Message-Id: <202312172100.3BHL0N7A010445@kenobi.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: bugzilla set sender to bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org To: net@FreeBSD.org Subject: Problem reports for net@FreeBSD.org that need special attention Date: Sun, 17 Dec 2023 21:00:23 +0000 List-Id: Networking and TCP/IP with FreeBSD List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-net List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-net@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="17028468230.69aafaDD.8338" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit --17028468230.69aafaDD.8338 Date: Sun, 17 Dec 2023 21:00:23 +0000 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" To view an individual PR, use: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=(Bug Id). Additionally I had a short exchange with Michael W. Lucas and I am also studying his SNMP Mastery book at the moment. > OK, guess the following (physical memory) looks correct for you as = well? Yes, physical is correct across all hosts - FreeBSD, Linux, ESXi, ... > So I guess what net-snmp reports makes sense and the only value that > should be used for alerts is that "physical memory" one. I learned from MWL that "real memory" is supposed to be all memory currently in use by applications. Allocated pages. That of course makes sense, too. Now only "virtual memory" is left - according to the book that should be the sum of physical memory and swap space - and for my single Linux host it is. For the FreeBSD systems this is the one left that still looks = nonsensical. OPNsense (8G RAM, 8G swap): 4.91 of 4.99G used. TrueNAS (64G RAM, 32G swap): 627 of 628G used. TrueNAS 2 (32G RAM, 32G swap): 512 of 516G used. Recompiling net-snmp is not an option for me for these appliance OSes, but knowing that at least the "real memory" values do make sense, I'll = try to teach Observium not to paint them bright red. Hi Patrick,

I have opened= a bug in BugZilla [1] some time ago, it seems to be related=2E

Trun= cating the output can be a problem with automation tools that rely on the o= utput of ifconfig(8) to perform some tasks=2E

El 20 de diciembre de 2023 5:04:36 p=2E= m=2E UTC, "Patrick M=2E Hausen" <hausen@punkt=2Ede> escribi=C3=B3:
Hi all,

as some probably kn= ow we provide web hosting services and we use jails for that=2E

On s= ome particular host we have 255 vnet jails all of which are connected to th= e
external interface of the host - renamed to "inet0" in our environment= - via
if_bridge(4) and all managed with iocage=2E

root@ph003:~ #= grep inet0 /iocage/jails/vpro*/config=2Ejson|wc -l
255

Of t= hese 251 also have a second epair interface connected to a private bridgenamed "priv1"=2E These are used for connections to the central database s= erver
which should not be exposed to the Internet=2E

root@ph003:~= # grep priv1 /iocage/jails/vpro*/config=2Ejson | wc -l
251

= While looking for a different problem to my great suprise I found today tha= t
ifconfig truncates the list of member interfaces for both bridge insta= nces=2E
And both to the same value of 102, although the member numbers a= re (albeit slightly)
different:

root@ph003:~ # ifconfig inet0|gre= p member:|wc -l
102
root@ph003:~ # ifconfig priv1 | grep member:= | wc -l
102

All 255 jails are connected to the external net= work and perfectly reachable from
the Internet=2E That's why I conclude = that the display is wrong, not the bridge
configuration=2E

What's= happening here? Is this intentional or shall I file a bug report?

M= ore importantly: either way is this only cosmetic or will we hit another un= expected
limit of the number of interfaces that can be members of a brid= ge any time soon?

Kind regards,
Patrick

Just to make sure I didn't make any mistakes, I did a fresh install of Free= BSD 14 on the machine. As there is no network, I git cloned the files for v1.99 unto a USB stick on another machine and the compiled the driver on the affe= cted box. After rebooting, the kernel module is clearly loaded: $ kldstat Id Refs Address Size Name 1 40 0xffffffff80200000 1d34598 kernel 2 1 0xffffffff81f35000 129d0 if_re.ko 3 1 0xffffffff82910000 3390 acpi_wmi.ko 4 1 0xffffffff82914000 3250 ichsmb.ko 5 1 0xffffffff82918000 2178 smbus.ko 6 1 0xffffffff8291b000 3360 uhid.ko 7 1 0xffffffff8291f000 33c0 usbhid.ko 8 1 0xffffffff82923000 3380 hidbus.ko 9 1 0xffffffff82927000 3360 wmt.ko 10 1 0xffffffff8292b000 4364 ums.ko Still, the driver is not attached: # dmesg|grep ethernet pci4: at device 0.0 (no driver attached) However, I decided to manually unload the module and load it again, which causes a kernel panic!
