[1] This comprehensive chapter provides step-by-step guidance on joining the FreeBSD translators team, both for translating online on Weblate and offline. It offers valuable insights and practical suggestions for efficient translation, proofreading, and testing processes. Furthermore, this chapter equips contributors with the necessary knowledge to formally submit their translations to the documentation repository, ensuring a seamless integration of their work. --- Some of you may have already read our draft on the Wiki page, which remained there for a while. However, it has been recently updated, and we encourage you to re-read it. The updated version includes new information on how to build and submit your translations. If you have any doubts about any of the procedures, please feel free to reach out. Your feedback is highly valuable to us. Hi Fernando. Presuming ISA article is the ISA chapter of books/arch-handbook, Spanish= overall status is 173/368. It shows 1/195 (Untranslated strings) if you start translating it now. ok Weblate sync all translations to the git repository: https://github.com/freebsd/freebsd-doc-translate You can see the history here https://github.com/freebsd/freebsd-doc-translate/commits/main/documentat= ion/content/es/books/arch-handbook/isa and here https://translate-dev.freebsd.org/projects/documentation/booksarch-handb= ookisa_index/es/#history in the Weblate Insights/History page to check what's going on. Did you already check it? I never saw Weblate lose any translations because it uses a database and= a git repository; what you said is very serious. Explain better what happened so I can debug the server logs. Regards. --=20 Danilo G. Presuming I= SA article is the ISA chapter of books/arch-handbook, Spanish overall st= atus is 173/368.
It shows 1/195 (Untranslated strings) if = you start translating it now. ok

Weblate sy= nc all translations to the git repository:

You can see the history here
and here
<= div>in the Weblate Insights/History page to check what's going on.

Did you already check it?

I never saw Weblate lose any translations because it uses a datab= ase and a git repository; what you said is very serious.
<= br>
Explain better what happened so I can debug the server log= s.

Hi Danilo,
<= /div>

I'm thinking this might be a problem with the c= ache in the browser or something like that. It might be because I am (or= was) logged in two different computers?
Yes, now it shows= 1/195, That checks out the number 368-173

= I'm positive the status before I did this change:

= was 165/(two hundred and something). Like forty strings to finish or so.=

I hit back in Firefox like 20 times in the= Weblate tab and this is what I got: https://people.freebsd.org/~fernape/screensh= ot.png

As you can see it reported 174/2= 20. So 46 strings to finish. Now there are 195 to finish. Maybe I'm misi= nterpreting something here.

<= /div>

I see 44 POST entries (translations/searches/et= c) in the server access log for the arch-handbook/isa chapter today.
=

And it starts in the offset number 149 and not= 1.

Weblate sync all translations to the git repository:

Hi there,

I've had the tran= slation of the ISA article ongoing for some time now. Today, from anothe= r computer I usually use, I did some more translation. When I was at aro= und 165/200 strings translated, I did a search and replace and to my sur= prise, now I'm at 1/195 :-(

What happened w= ith all the other strings I already translated?

Hi Fernando.

Presum= ing ISA article is the ISA chapter of books/arch-handbook, Spanish overa= ll status is 173/368.
It shows 1/195 (Untranslated strings= ) if you start translating it now. ok

Webla= te sync all translations to the git repository:

You can see the history here
and here
https://translate-dev.freebsd.org/= projects/documentation/booksarch-handbookisa_index/es/#history
in the Weblate Insights/History page to check what's going on.<= br>

Did you already check it?
I never saw Weblate lose any translations because it uses a = database and a git repository; what you said is very serious.
<= div>
Explain better what happened so I can debug the serve= r logs.

Hi Danilo,=

I'm thinking this might be a problem with = the cache in the browser or something like that. It might be because I a= m (or was) logged in two different computers?
Yes, now it = shows 1/195, That checks out the number 368-173

=
I'm positive the status before I did this change:
https://translate-dev.freebsd.org/translate/documentatio= n/booksarch-handbookisa_index/es/?checksum=3Ddf9d40daebf9f438

was 165/(two hundred and something). Like forty s= trings to finish or so.

I hit back in Firef= ox like 20 times in the Weblate tab and this is what I got: htt= ps://people.freebsd.org/~fernape/screenshot.png

As you can see it reported 174/220. So 46 strings to finish. No= w there are 195 to finish. Maybe I'm misinterpreting something here.

I see = 44 POST entries (translations/searches/etc) in the server access log for= the arch-handbook/isa chapter today.

I think the user interface fooled you somehow with these numbers= .

It looks like it= . I went to the other computer. Signed in. It showed my previous numbers= . F5 did not refresh the numbers. I had to go to Languages->Spanish a= nd then again to the ISA chapter to see the 173/368 numbers again. =

No problem.

To be clear to everyone, we didn't lose any translation.

Profession or student status: I'm a high school student living in Ottaw=
a. I'm taking French Immersion programme at school, which means that I&=
#39;m taking some courses in French.
About Me: I was born in South Korea, learning Korean as my first language. =
I migrated to Canada a few years ago and learned the official languages of =
Canada (which is French and English). Ottawa is one of the most bilingual c=
ity in Canada, and students learn French (or English in East Ottawa) as the=
ir second language since their childhood.
Current=
ly, I'm taking French Immersion Program, and I finished my history, cit=
izenship, and science course in French. Overall, I'm at native level in=
Korea, C1 in English, and about B2 in French.
I =
would like to translate documents both in Korean and French, but if it is n=
ot allowed to join two teams at one time, I would like to start my translat=
ion with Korean.
I have contributed to FreeBSD do=
cumentation project since 2021. I also made a few commits to the base syste=
m to conform POSIX standard and remove obsolete files. I'm spending mos=
t of my summer vacation to contribute in FreeBSD project, and I'm focus=
ing on improving documentation quality and website design.
My goal for FreeBSD project is to make better documentation port=
al, website, and man page by improving their UI/UX. Although I don't ha=
ve deep knowledge in Javascript/CSS, I'm making an effort to understand=
web development and its application in FreeBSD project.
My another goal is to contribute to the base system, especially for=
FreeBSD kernel, bootloader, and linuxulator. I'm studying how operatin=
g system works and how FreeBSD implements safe and secure kernel.
Although it is not going to be easy to contribute multiple= projects (doc, base, translation), it will be a fun experience to have, an= d I'm ready to make FreeBSD more attractive operating system.Merci!
