My inclination is to include the python interface with the source code of the C library, as the python interface is tightly coupled with the library. I've done some preliminary investigation, and have found libimobiledevice in ports -- devel/py-libplist, comms/py-libimobiledevice, etc. I am wondering if there is other software in ports heavily tied to a C library with cython that freebsd python maintainers recommend as supporting best practices for packaging, that I should carefully study. The C library uses autotools (autoconf, automake, libtool). Otherwise you wi= ll not have many, if at all, Python package ports to use due to our assumption that distutils is available in the standard library, which is no longer the case in 3.12. The road to getting that done is delicate and must be in a specific order to minimise breakage and distractions. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Sun Jan 7 21:00:57 2024 X-Original-To: python@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4T7V3G2BFJz55xWF for <python@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org>; Sun, 7 Jan 2024 21:00:58 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4T7V3F4Kn7z3xdp for <python@FreeBSD.org>; Sun, 7 Jan 2024 21:00:57 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1704661257; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding; bh=whkxgy1n6MezCRCIxWRnbuJXk27WHL0fI7UL5o0NxD0=; b=m3v8+A68gECKSiLU4zqqNkBgy3xGVB/JFtlYkf6fyEwp1omLeVpOZ4U0Nmx6KGGGb0CQJD HTc6bCkGzWtqW3RwVfGVLDodzUAIkK9hFXzvfFCP7F7WmdjqMwDjCEe8Mh0/BvxaLt+7FL 9IkZDAnUNroREkoW3tNbKXZaH17yfDNj+FOIxWygaP/jemXXsLBnSeCYdWQIiXCZlC+Oaf vA5r7W0rfpxQZsuNGgk5+F2dcateau8oJqas5kGiputROQiMJu6e0jx80v4T3RqMoN7It+ F/LdyeD/DqpngQu+AN0evDVjyz/fnRoB5QF8eh5Qm0RKI8lcnxf831KrY+Ma6A== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1704661257; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=RZ2/s/BZi8YRbe9C2utf2HPtSkyEhF+l78zpcBlQ+Eq6UdTlLVs48SUwi0ngo3TqIlZcEa zm4JMh2ti4afAV3RqjbihNbbjdn6PaONAaVCD58AzTHxL0rS0dl88+UwarMLd8TxuO7ymx Wj8AYuhHJ51u/j2TT7TL4/MQPrmZgYFZaFweL0dfKwIErqYTqHkt6CrYx0FEr9Ac8cxtPc 396H8XOn5jnZeP0XlIaCcIiFUyEluOnN45GcSgdLi5oB6BqRuSUZK9IUJluHUexESe5+sC iAHDaVjsHaq8S48D8zhEWDRdY9k6DwgWZaVPtlnlEoBglwKIg1LXNPYznA69vQ== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4T7V3F3R5KzfB3 for <python@FreeBSD.org>; Sun, 7 Jan 2024 21:00:57 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 407L0vQT002276 for <python@FreeBSD.org>; Sun, 7 Jan 2024 21:00:57 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from bugzilla@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 407L0vMG002275 for python@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 7 Jan 2024 21:00:57 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Message-Id: <202401072100.407L0vMG002275@kenobi.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: bugzilla set sender to bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org To: python@FreeBSD.org Subject: Problem reports for python@FreeBSD.org that need special attention Date: Sun, 7 Jan 2024 21:00:57 +0000 List-Id: FreeBSD-specific Python issues <freebsd-python.freebsd.org> List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-python List-Help: <mailto:python+help@freebsd.org> List-Post: <mailto:python@freebsd.org> List-Subscribe: <mailto:python+subscribe@freebsd.org> List-Unsubscribe: <mailto:python+unsubscribe@freebsd.org> Sender: owner-freebsd-python@freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-python@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="17046612570.c9FC.97384" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit --17046612570.c9FC.97384 Date: Sun, 7 Jan 2024 21:00:57 +0000 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" To view an individual PR, use: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=(Bug Id).
