Maybe exim is violating some policy?
What does sysctl kern.elf${your_arch}.allow_wx say?

FreeBSD14 features some pretty memory protections: see mitigations(7).

I am running the same version of Exim on the s= ame version of FreeBSD (on two different servers, no custom kernel) and I h= aven't seen these symptoms.
If anything, here is the output of what you asked:

``

However the sending server remains at FBSD 13.2p11, Exim 4.94.2 The smtp server sends to both direct via ethernet (public IP) connected servers plus a couple of local email accounts which use fetchmail The chassis which it sends these emails to are all 14.0p6. and exim 4.97.1. My results for the "allow_wx" also were '1'. I changed these to '0' and email wouldn't flow at all. So, I am in the throws of re-loading two chassis to FreeBSD 13.3p1 If this resolves email sending and eliminates the SIGSEGV, I will have a more firm grasp of the issue. I hear you ... you have not experienced these symptoms. I compile exim myself. If that info was placed into Updating / Release Notes / Handbook / Graphics Wiki that would allow testing 5.10/5.15/6.10 on 14.0 and save some time to upgrade and then rollback. There was kind of support table in the Wiki GraphicsOld but it seems gone in Graphics maybe this can be restored with additional release and driver support notes? I just hope all ZFS pools are fine after that. I will stick to 13 for now := -) --=20 CeDeROM, SQ7MHZ, http://www.tomek.cedro.info From nobody Tue May 21 20:58:29 2024 X-Original-To: freebsd-questions@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4VkRcK59ZHz5KX6K for ; Tue, 21 May 2024 20:58:41 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from Axel.Rau@Chaos1.DE) Received: from mail.nepustil.net (mail.nepustil.net [IPv6:2001:14f8:1:1::8]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4VkRcK1kQLz4LPF for ; Tue, 21 May 2024 20:58:41 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from Axel.Rau@Chaos1.DE) Authentication-Results: mx1.freebsd.org; dkim=none; dmarc=none; spf=pass (mx1.freebsd.org: domain of Axel.Rau@Chaos1.DE designates 2001:14f8:1:1::8 as permitted sender) smtp.mailfrom=Axel.Rau@Chaos1.DE Received: from [2001:14f8:21c:10::122] (port=63512 helo=smtpclient.apple) by mail.nepustil.net with esmtpsa (TLS1.2) tls TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (Exim 4.95 (FreeBSD)) (envelope-from ) id 1s9WVT-000Lmn-Sz for freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.org; Tue, 21 May 2024 22:58:36 +0200 From: Axel Rau Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable List-Id: User questions List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-questions List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-BeenThere: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.org Mime-Version: 1.0 (Mac OS X Mail 16.0 \(3774.600.62\)) Subject: preparing EFI loader for upgrade to 14.0-RELEASE Message-Id: Date: Tue, 21 May 2024 22:58:29 +0200 To: "freebsd-questions@freebsd.org" X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.3774.600.62) X-Spamd-Bar: --- X-Spamd-Result: default: False [-3.28 / 15.00]; NEURAL_HAM_LONG(-1.00)[-1.000]; NEURAL_HAM_MEDIUM(-1.00)[-0.997]; NEURAL_HAM_SHORT(-0.99)[-0.987]; R_SPF_ALLOW(-0.20)[+mx:c]; MIME_GOOD(-0.10)[text/plain]; RCVD_VIA_SMTP_AUTH(0.00)[]; RCPT_COUNT_ONE(0.00)[1]; ASN(0.00)[asn:12502, ipnet:2001:14f8::/32, country:DE]; ARC_NA(0.00)[]; RCVD_COUNT_ONE(0.00)[1]; APPLE_MAILER_COMMON(0.00)[]; DMARC_NA(0.00)[chaos1.de]; MID_RHS_MATCH_FROM(0.00)[]; FROM_EQ_ENVFROM(0.00)[]; FROM_HAS_DN(0.00)[]; MIME_TRACE(0.00)[0:+]; TO_DN_EQ_ADDR_ALL(0.00)[]; MLMMJ_DEST(0.00)[freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.org]; TO_MATCH_ENVRCPT_ALL(0.00)[]; R_DKIM_NA(0.00)[]; RCVD_TLS_ALL(0.00)[] X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: 4VkRcK1kQLz4LPF Hi all, the server to be upgraded (per freebsd-update) has only a default = bootstrap in its ESP: root@db3:~ # efibootmgr -v Boot to FW : false BootCurrent: 000c Timeout : 1 seconds BootOrder : 0002, 000C, 0011, 000D Boot0002* UEFI: Built-in EFI Shell = VenMedia(5023b95c-db26-429b-a648-bd47664c8012) +Boot000C* UEFI OS = HD(1,GPT,b6a39bf6-f288-11e9-81c6-d05099d4bb99,0x28,0x64000)/File(\\EFI\\BO= OT\\BOOTX64.EFI) nvd1p1:/EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI (null) Boot0011* UEFI OS = HD(1,GPT,b69156f5-f288-11e9-81c6-d05099d4bb99,0x28,0x64000)/File(\\EFI\\BO= OT\\BOOTX64.EFI) nvd0p1:/EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI (null) Boot000D Hard Drive BBS(HD,,0x0) Should I create a freebsd directory on the ESPs of both mirrored disks, = i.e.: mount_msdosfs /dev/nvd0p1 /boot/efi cp /boot/loader.efi /boot/efi/efi/freebsd/loader.efi/bootx64.efi mkdir /boot/efi/efi/freebsd cp /boot/loader.efi /boot/efi/efi/freebsd/loader.efi umount /boot/efi mount_msdosfs /dev/nvd1p1 /boot/efi cp /boot/loader.efi /boot/efi/efi/freebsd/loader.efi/bootx64.efi mkdir /boot/efi/efi/freebsd cp /boot/loader.efi /boot/efi/efi/freebsd/loader.efi umount /boot/efi Please advice. Hi Steven, You need to provide a bit more context/information like: What version of FreeBSD are you using? In what kind of environment (e.g. on the host itself or in a jail) are you executing the command? If you run the command from inside a jail, you would need to use VNET; otherwise, you can't edit the routes. I am running FreeBSD 14.1 BETA 3, but with updates from git.  No jails involved. I was trying to get rtw88 wifi driver to work, I finally figured it out.  But in the process I noticed wlan0 wasn't creating a default route, like when I enable re0 or re1. I was trying this command on the host.  I read the man page and the handbook, but they show the command as I invoked it. Anyway, since I figured out the rc.conf entries, wlan0 gets an IP adx from dhcp and creates a default route. Regardless, you can force it to run again as follows: # UNAME_r=3D13.2-RELEASE freebsd-update upgrade -r 13.3-RELEASE then run `freebsd-update install` repeatedly (up to three times) until it says there is nothing to install.
