Last week I upgraded from 13.3 to 14.1 and moved /usr/home to /home. ThunderBird didn't like this, so I grepped its profile to see where references were to /usr/home in order to correct them. One such file was global-messages-db.sqlite: I deleted it and it was like hitting the turtle/hare switch! :-O Now my nearly 20 year old profile is fast again.
