The current library incorrectly sets the child process' affinity to compact, which roughly translates to "pin consecutive threads = to consecutive cores", even when the user hasn't set KMP_AFFINITY to anything.= So every child process was pinned to the first core instead of the entire syst= em. Curious how hard it'd be to get the PR fix into 13.x and/or 14.x. Have not tested stable ye. I also compiled llvm-devel, which is v19.x, and it is also impacted. Safe to assume all versions after v16.x are impacted based on my testing. I'd love to see the PR make it in 14.1 and the PR pushed to the appropriate ports as patches for llvm16/llvm17/llvm18, etc until it makes it into a newer llvm release. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Tue May 7 22:49:04 2024 X-Original-To: threads@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4VYtk90bFtz5K7D2 for ; Tue, 07 May 2024 22:49:05 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4VYtk86LqRz43Jk for ; Tue, 7 May 2024 22:49:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1715122144; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=k+W2yaSW1wf9S4e7Ad4mpb5yO4/yoHz+MpfXLXP17L4Izm9dM+O25y8vwvLUjpVHvymbYJ V/nNG3Obv064hOnT4A3c2P/W9+Z7imN0AFieuWVRpOQ14vhXmo0EmFO2bJriuLXFUGOHXx NzikXRzSo7HlVhIslUir01+OcR2XhofnE4xUf8/Cq0DwiGvVuE7+V+dYS97747ZV6ZeUvb d42OiglX8D54hg2x1xbfMBTtnCjx5fsk/+vFzLgfI8GXXnZ8JsibZfpkxh/bMbl6dlKRlo rlo2tbGSXEKzhaiK9D/8YrJX3oVlK6kNExRluoYQMuwA4qLHjbpCNgtRdvdP9Q== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1715122144; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding; bh=a3maHjpphAS67ixj6Xx+QBtMbVzLSFZc62VmCvBUGow=; b=EYVoqzfqdwGFq6uLhLnPd3RQEnQOGyTMILpoVuoOV87WHX24qJ/Hozu4kP9HWcsmxcwEnK lBSzsYybFwbA+l37d0fv3dxtgaRJS40TiCS3CTHmBPgRslQQCBcoQUU3CjQmHIt1LgAJx6 iJs3nHUhLyv67tTv/p/EA/smLlbYzHPr8AnnnPALP6GTPaIzhKtKgMhNXrO/Xqohh6eqol eZVxP+ol6fo3/ZN72fo6uw6oSQgTEpej06SKqaD2DpHO+BHwNtxQ+GWJa6Qkdth5gpAN9g uUedWyZF6Tkik9qsM0wXvTDMYkxMvVpyV6YmXSvr9FCM+50HlKRwPkmEkM9O/g== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4VYtk85rFgz10wx for ; Tue, 7 May 2024 22:49:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 447Mn4L1028753 for ; Tue, 7 May 2024 22:49:04 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 447Mn4N7028751 for threads@FreeBSD.org; Tue, 7 May 2024 22:49:04 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: threads@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 278845] OpenMP Patches to prevent locking, hanging and CPU limiting to single core.
