So it looks like this regressed with https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/commit/llvmorg-18-init-16766-g51fbab13= 4560 ("[asan] Enable StackSafetyAnalysis by default"), and it still crashes with very recent main, i.e. llvmorg-20-init-09245-g0850e721ab1. One workaround would be to use -asan-use-stack-safety=3D0 for this one part= icular troublesome source file, but I'm unsure if that will allow the rest of worl= d to build. Simultaneously, I think it is good to report a bug upstream, but I'll have = to reduce the test case. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Fri Oct 25 15:55:20 2024 X-Original-To: toolchain@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4XZnRs2tNYz5ZrCT for ; Fri, 25 Oct 2024 15:55:21 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R11" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4XZnRr617qz4Y9v for ; Fri, 25 Oct 2024 15:55:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1729871720; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=Di1/ufNNVbOIJp5uZT5Xcq8ZeQQ1Tr5lU2VLdPm7FY8=; b=fq223Xrh612rw9+0jTwoCSnZKueWFmiK4cNTBMGwl2axb/POJLtde0/mHCYayBJ0oOSBuj gkVNxnvpHVyDZwTpAoARaGs+Vc8Y3z+IETgfcaXCbrSfRp9P2yPFkGMMlAP/3OWLyq3YRI 1MQ+aW6mYacy6wFXvk3VNdaPfnP5Iy4VD4j38btd+/A240e1+rPth1RwgZw4k5XvtY6CCG mnSW5C1jaosxaghI0i7XbWeg0U0Syrherzhei9dYWIhuNfayEK8zeLGzytOGagdNgtQALj 7qJ97eYYl8PvO0x2TMjYPovmZiTSzqTaJ9x4TeB1mgX5ywbgAvhOk//gYtNsbQ== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1729871720; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=SKp1hbmYm42QRD35tXnY9wEcbSHETk4eQvoefClrxowqbSA8KCRCaOl5/oWgm7PpfVxMy1 XcjkCRfO76TSoANbEzedy8e3BD3uFCmYX8/oM2tAXU8eT89E4k/K+BtwuMZ+iItf+/TgL1 qADBL20GQfi5ZJs6+98eO+jtw5d3jDj9rpIQzyGJ+N9dckdilzzpmXqHAk/Z8DOOnuoUmV 6BXLxPv99WN3ST2ut0xXUdovIOWJQSFPC2l6Dv486Xl6WTjmOIvUIFC/2XHQGybK4CCkW6 E5UHgTzHx8PgT0yMYJ5bGLtrjEX7VQcT/Pvp23E2n/PoXI8ssv1+LFqAdyFLOQ== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4XZnRr5QzczXwj for ; Fri, 25 Oct 2024 15:55:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 49PFtKOG063608 for ; Fri, 25 Oct 2024 15:55:20 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 49PFtKQo063606 for toolchain@FreeBSD.org; Fri, 25 Oct 2024 15:55:20 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: toolchain@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 280936] cannot build world with ASAN enabled Date: Fri, 25 Oct 2024 15:55:20 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: bin X-Bugzilla-Version: 15.0-CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: dim@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: toolchain@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: Maintenance of FreeBSD s integrated toolchain List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-toolchain List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-BeenThere: freebsd-toolchain@freebsd.org Sender: owner-freebsd-toolchain@FreeBSD.org MIME-Version: 1.0 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D280936 --- Comment #10 from Dimitry Andric --- Right, I knew I had seen this before: https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/issues/87923 [After 7740565f56ce, "Assertion failed: (isa(Callee) || isa(Callee)), function analyzeAllUses" with -asan-use-stack-safety] This looks like the same sort of thing. Originally the plan was to drop that support in libc++ 17, but instead deprecation warnings were added, and these were in libc++ for two whole releases. But apparently nobody looks at deprecation warnings. :-) In any case, during the work for bug 280562, I fixed the following ports that ran into this issue: * bug 280563 for devel/binutils * bug 280564 for graphics/poppler * bug 280579 for devel/llvm1[1-7] * bug 280673 for www/node20 * bug 280693 for databases/mysql80-server * bug 280694 for databases/mysql81-server * bug 280695 for databases/mysql82-server * bug 280696 for net/kea * bug 280791 for textproc/zxing-cpp * bug 280893 for math/vtk9 * bug 281193 for devel/rapidfuzz-cpp * bug 281194 for devel/py-rapidfuzz * bug 281431 for www/qt5-webengine * bug 281478 for devel/libxsd-frontend * bug 281485 for www/node18 * bug 281499 for devel/folly * bug 281516 for graphics/libemf * bug 281534 for devel/py-Levenshtein * bug 281540 for devel/sfml * bug 281553 for devel/poco * bug 281886 for cad/kicad * bug 281974 for x11-toolkits/mygui * bug 281975 for science/dlib-cpp * bug 282165 for devel/librevisa In many of these cases, the program abused either uint16_t or uint32_t to represent UTF-16 or UTF-32 characters, and such cases can easily be fixed by replacing those with char16_t or char32_t, respectively. In some other cases, std::basic_string is used to handle blobs, and then it is usually best to replace it with std::vector, which is better suited to that purpose. Otherwise, some customized approach will be needed, and this is different for every port. For example with devel/sfml, the port needed quite a bit of restructuring, and the port maintainer wanted to discuss this with upstream first. (Although unfortunately nothing seems to have come of this, so the port will be broken for now).
