If I set this on the ugen device (using 15-CURRENT) before setting the ip and then set ip after the pinging from the Windows laptop af= ter S3 sleep/wake cycle worked as well as after physically disconnecting the interface. It looks like the aforementioned bug report attached a patch whi= ch some variation was committed which changed /head/sys/dev/usb/quirk/usb_quir= k.c to include "USB_QUIRK(REALTEK, RTL8153, 0x0000, 0xffff, UQ_CFG_INDEX_1)," I don't see this in the current revision of the file at https://github.com/freebsd/freebsd-src/blob/main/sys/dev/usb/quirk/usb_quir= k.c. It does look like the part of the commit to add RTL8153 vendor and product = id were left intact though (https://github.com/freebsd/freebsd-src/blob/main/sys/dev/usb/usbdevs#L4064= C5-L4064C5) I am reporting new bug instead of bumping old one in hopes to increase visibility. Wasted time below dashed line. ------------------------------------------------- Background: I encountered this issue when I set up an OPNsense 23.7 box with some usb 3= .0 to gigagit ethernet adapters. During set up I was connected some test devic= es (which included a laptop with Windows 10 installed) directly to the ethernet adapters. I found that if the Windows laptop was sleep/wake cycled the ethe= rnet connection died on the Windows laptop and I needed to restart OPNsense in o= rder to fix the ethernet connection. I decided to do some more thorough testing = with Freebsd 14.0 stable and FreebSD 15 current and compare it to Fedora 39. (spoilers Fedora 39 doesn't have this issue) Setup: While I wasn't able to test with the exact same model as I experienced with OPNsense, I believe the differences between them aren't too great. The mode= l I was using when I first encountered the issue was an Insignia (a Best Buy br= and) NS-PA3U6E. The model I tested for this report is a Best Buy essentials BE-PA3U6E. I am not able to get the chipset of NS-PA3U6E at the moment, but BE-PA3U6E is a 3.0 usb to gigabit ethernet adapter with a RTL8153 chipset a= nd vendor and product id is 0bda:8153. I used the following live usb images: 1. Freebsd 14 stable (FreeBSD-14.0-RELEASE-amd64-dvd1.iso freebsd 14.0-n265380-f9716eee8ab4 compiled on november 10 05:57:23) 2. Freebsd current snapshot (FreeBSD-15.0-CURRENT-amd64-20240111-a61d2c7fbd3c-267507-memstick.img) 3. Fedora 39 (linux kernel 6.5.6-300.fc39.x86_64 compiled October 6 19:57:21 UTC 2023) Thoughout all testing the Windows laptop was assigned ip 192.168.2.1/24 with gateway 192.168.1.1. A separate laptop as used to boot the live usbs. After every live usb boot or netif restart the usb to ethernet interface was set = to 192.168.1.1. I have ensured the the Windows laptop was going into S3 sleep and not Modern Standby. Testing:=20 Freebsd 14.0 stable live usb:=20 I booted the live usb, selected live usb mode, and logged in. The relevant kernel modules were loaded: if_ure.ko uether.ko I assigned ue0 to 192.168.1.1/24 and I could ping 192.168.1.1 from Windows laptop. But when I did S3 sleep/weke cycle on the Windows laptop it failed = to ping 192.168.1.1 with "Destination host unreachable".=20 When I restarted networking via "service netif restart" (or I rebooted the freebsd live usb) and then assigned ue0 to 192.168.1.1/24 I was able to successfully ping 192.168.1.1 from the Windows laptop. If I physically disconnected and reconnected the ethernet on either ends of cable very quic= kly (around or less than half a second or so) (one at a time and observation do= ne after each time) pinging still worked, but if I kept a cable unplugged long= er than very quickly pinging failed with "Destination host unreachable".=20 Freebsd most recent current snapshot (as of writing) live usb: I booted, went into live usb mode, and logged in. The relevant kernel modul= es were loaded: if_ure.ko uether.ko I assigned ue0 to 192.168.1.1/24. The same thing happened as with Freebsd 14 stable. When I did S3 sleep/wake cycle on the Windows laptop and pinged 192.168.1.1 ping failed with "Destination host unreachable". I had to resta= rt networking via "service netif restart" (or reboot the freebsd live usb) and then assign ue0 to 192.168.1.1/24 to be able to ping 192.168.1.1 from the Windows laptop. If I physically disconnected and reconnected the ethernet on either ends of cable very quickly (one end at a time and observation done a= fter each time) pinging still worked, but if I kept a cable unplugged longer than very quickly pinging failed with "Destination host unreachable". Fedora 39 live usb: I booted, tested the live usb integrity, disabled NetworkManager, and assig= ned 192.168.1.1/24 to the usb ethernet interface and I was able to ping the fed= ora 39 live usb at 192.168.1.1 from the Windows laptop. When I put the Windows laptop to sleep and woke it back up I am still able to ping the Fedora 39 l= ive usb. I am able to physically disconnect and reconnect the ethernet cable fr= om both ends two or more times as well as keeping it disconnected for a couple seconds or longer and I was still able to ping the fedora 39 live usb with = no failure. What I think: Freebsd drivers are the problem. Notes: If I connected the freebsd 14 live usb laptop to a different machine with Debian 12 installed (linux kernel 6.1.0-17-amd64) (after disabling NetworkManager as it was removing ip from interface after not being able to connect for a period of time), set ip to 192.168.1.2/24, and did S3 sleep/w= ake cycle Debian could still ping the live usb laptop. Maybe Linux is doing something different than Windows, it still doesn't explain why the Freebsd network needs to be restarted when connected to Windows laptop that sleep/w= ake cycled. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Sun Jan 14 02:16:32 2024 X-Original-To: usb@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4TCJmd5Bddz56lb2 for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 02:16:33 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4TCJmd0Gsnz3xBK for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 02:16:33 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1705198593; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=TOJQzvoP15nO9c8NhdE2QVHGa5Y4GMNm34Zuw1JByDk=; b=ZHA12R8/y6Vai+rI7SPiD+FQW3/0xkxphXqw6mJUhYSQ8cQYbTkI4Lb7eb5eItuyOBltwo c2jKb4c73Ru75wSpN7Vegwb6Jm9T44t7BczPZIGwL1M3PoW0/L20XVIIl4IprmgmvntWWi gXhLKSlgjc9R8+fmjK14wEAfNccPWPA7cs3/C0bNsGcTh6hLRSbvYzPHNof/tgqHO/z3LJ /m/U2DlxB1Keh2Rz2q0n5SSa60bz9NG/DJ16oBq/LxdlKRnYLxgZY7vuOMDk/r4tra6ZBf pv98zZU6DsMcctigy6vB00XQ//pkcBO/SoCYkM+gn+JLAasvrREh3ZaCdwGb1A== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1705198593; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=cLDCcT0eRjCRr2OlkG9GjrObMxCKxwa/0zVyRgIkWGUZyW4dC4ia68HqKQgg4iH/eXurZC 01CYKjVDUYxrp3BDi9emRrtZ6xOcLN5plfqG2mMqD6RAjqyCFDJiRAaZnmX5+wXeTb7svh YXu0yB/uihmAIFXhC0bz96mRRb2l3vjj9pcUWI8q7ObUrs1TnRRND2Ik8e1henxedG1f9G dJUT45lpswwwEeKIGfx2Vgfdbj40OlSO8v9uAY8GsdqJSeZgLL3Zr4TDZM/PDfCeTAYDhc yxYl/1xgFJyStTSe7KxIa7GO123OmReQlnQtD0w/A5JNVjuxVLn6UcdvAD0JWg== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4TCJmc6MxjzvbH for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 02:16:32 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 40E2GW9L099362 for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 02:16:32 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 40E2GWT0099342 for usb@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 02:16:32 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: usb@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 276307] [ure] Unable to ping RTL8153 usb 3.0 to gigabit ethernet adapter (0bda:8153) from connected Windows device after S3 sleep/wake cycling said Windows device (no quirk to set config) Date: Sun, 14 Jan 2024 02:16:32 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: usb X-Bugzilla-Version: 15.0-CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: yetoohappy@gmail.com X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: usb@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: FreeBSD List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-usb List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D276307 --- Comment #1 from yetoohappy@gmail.com --- It looks like https://github.com/freebsd/freebsd-src/commit/5d706410520cb2847c26a8b59847c= 73cc671fa30 removed it with commit message "Remove RTL8153 quirk since ure(4) supports = this chip." There is a way to dynamically add usb quirks. You'll need to load usb_quirk= and follow the instructions in https://man.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=3Dusb_quirk&sektion=3D4&n=3D1 and https://man.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=3Dusbconfig&sektion=3D8&apropos= =3D0&manpath=3DFreeBSD+14.0-RELEASE+and+Ports to add the quirk back and see if the problem persists. I'm not sure if the I/F should be pingable in S3 though. FreeBSD is basical= ly shutdown at that point (Linux might not be). If a sleep/wake cycle results = in it not being pingable, then that is definitely a bug (it was a little uncle= ar from your description). --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Sun Jan 14 07:41:37 2024 X-Original-To: usb@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4TCRzk22NWz57LR5 for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 07:41:38 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4TCRzj6CDqz4TFc for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 07:41:37 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1705218097; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=mKVpezh8hWtvku/lf/8PbBnZFEvWJvuQ5NM5mdQmXns=; b=XE3nhdllxdp87/8rZq1TsFrr6z00nBilTwnH988hcKlex6rb9AicB1Rp2qhFXl/Of63F0E FVeQ61Xmg4aiaZs/PD5hsy0+T7qPif97MwA/kXssLtu6NNGHPuDjNELMysvmS/VGmhXcBN TUl7N0zg3GIlkAlbRDxxNJ9QQXZsawjMnQpUwYQuNSShxjfWXqygNxfIGHqiA5EszgV1uL qN9vugwBxH1JZyB4LNSRSk7IIZH8U+UEqZT6pJXLUcpIYmT4+gaRdVwYh7WCgbEx+kogKL ZAfteWXHRiOTOBn171eTGndvTE/jQVPv94840dGWaXYGHZ8TeE/qaIHmAxMtBQ== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1705218097; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=aL/vv5fCcQIVeOMpOZX9IDKsfsz7GNm6oE7qSz+uA8QGByxDAeoq2H389qv0aoSJUKELlR IJcxVKIZttrzDMM2CrGpKJw1D1hVUU9HQnLpQWkfs3z1g4aGs9XRxczEWi7lDh0PBAQXS8 GSaPq1m1ydO7UCTkaP8xY7mmUPDthHw4IoVkIthsb8biP77AoReJUAutDITeU915Z2gb2I JZu8oHq6/YobbcUO21Hde+ovoHy9l4qc5gwZUMzdclDDGPDyiHBsRv1mP85RzTF9gIC7wx jfrkrrJgfoC6dgRNVxMXg40mV3VKACpMb/ixujDBSFZ3n1a8BdHWNjZv+O3H4w== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4TCRzj5Jfnz14j9 for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 07:41:37 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 40E7fbgG084092 for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 07:41:37 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 40E7fb6h084080 for usb@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 07:41:37 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: usb@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 276307] [ure] Unable to ping RTL8153 usb 3.0 to gigabit ethernet adapter (0bda:8153) from connected Windows device after S3 sleep/wake cycling said Windows device (no quirk to set config) Date: Sun, 14 Jan 2024 07:41:37 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: usb X-Bugzilla-Version: 15.0-CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: yetoohappy@gmail.com X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: usb@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: FreeBSD List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-usb List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D276307 --- Comment #3 from plastickey --- (In reply to Warner Losh from comment #2) To be clear the Freebsd/Fedora instance was never put to sleep it was always the Windows or the Debian machine that was put into S3 sleep. The problem a= nd testing wasn't for Freebsd/Fedora instances being pingable while Windows/De= bian was in S3 sleep (or vice versa). It was after Windows woke up from S3 sleep that it couldn't ping Freebsd. I will try the instructions to load the USB quirk. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Sun Jan 14 08:32:19 2024 X-Original-To: usb@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4TCT6F0s3Wz57QT3 for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 08:32:21 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4TCT6D2Nj1z4Zf5 for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 08:32:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1705221140; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=Obiwezvj/Pcsj2K2BGdwibB8260eTfXpwnAZ4GeHslk=; b=SPTlpq6bjWQnF0WcAvsUM7T6Q5yUOHTXMzAZlh6PO2s97Pz51rImy6+T0fIOoiB9ElZWA5 XzSdXRNJWaVpU1HeDoLkwYqVYzAxoB0xquJYhUq/Ret8ka+YID0FK2RW2pEl0bN0lGFVDm 9ypUjOislhZjJggPoB47Z/e5zf2Gz7GTUVHWU7dKrCjsQ7aK7AyOcZLCk+1nUt2Ef3PtDi LzrW9LW5Eyut1wglWIu7nTQpi6/sIMYQSY7jt1fZ67TIEAcWpcHCO+GZUH78ZW+aufd+jV OHz/2zdb2HjkIQralQ87GZ8FuX6YfIPPdktm8jHoqmlr4MihuLZ4FmcR5WTxTA== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1705221140; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=N7wjZg5PMn9sKBCiI+uHzf0fIDyIUjgNBJUHyPrM/Rlyv12KRBa597jus7j3gz4IvwMQi0 GY7OJShBYv+4ZlP/B0HF+8d6jkMhUewwVYKktx2OTa5Y+Krfh39wW5sAvLNlRr7nKW56cY qJOwIDIoM0PN8XAiKPVIdrQYzY3mrztq3smLldxEzQ/M2TYpty9VawUsmYwQctI5MAtYYH J1vBaDtIdVEdOfpoNqFGKrmxaeQFSGv+iNnrG7BHPlONfIefGt7YQzcYkY4k7MeQLMtGK4 ENU6Sf7DL9s0H80vvSxnAK7hvp9PjSV6sVZzVUO7/agUC2cKHtL+/qfxYql3WQ== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4TCT6D0fqMz16Mq for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 08:32:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 40E8WJA1079444 for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 08:32:19 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 40E8WJ0R079429 for usb@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 08:32:19 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: usb@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 276307] [ure] Unable to ping RTL8153 usb 3.0 to gigabit ethernet adapter (0bda:8153) from connected Windows device after S3 sleep/wake cycling said Windows device (no quirk to set config) Date: Sun, 14 Jan 2024 08:32:19 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: usb X-Bugzilla-Version: 15.0-CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: yetoohappy@gmail.com X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: usb@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: FreeBSD List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-usb List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D276307 --- Comment #4 from plastickey --- (In reply to Warner Losh from comment #2) I tried usb_quirk with the 15.0-CURRENT image live usb I was using before. = On a fresh boot, I tried kldload usb_quirk but it said the module was already lo= aded despite me not seeing it in kldstat or kldstat -v. I executed usbconfig uge= n0.3 add_quirk UQ_CFG_INDEX_1 (with ugen0.3 being the usb to ethernet device) th= en set ue0 to 192.168.1.1/24 so pings from the Windows laptop succeeded then p= ut the laptop to sleep and woke it back up and the pings failed. On a new boot= of live usb I did the same, but instead of putting computer to sleep I physica= lly disconnected the cable and ping still fails. usbconfig -d X.Y set_config 1 resolved the issue like last time (set_config 1 disconnects the interface in such a way to remove the ip I assigned it so I had to reassign 192.168.1.1/= 24 to confirm pings from Windows laptop would succeed). --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Sun Jan 14 21:00:02 2024 X-Original-To: usb@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4TCnhz2xzfz5765R for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 21:00:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4TCnhz1LhDz40rd for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 21:00:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1705266003; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding; bh=GwqCVPAkr8NsZ3yldpQdcytjWbdy8UmcvkUV82rPSp4=; b=oXfj/YGl1Wl2/nBJKBBHF7wNkXijkcjLvKBRVs+QelLlC5GVrqXmetEDLfvJxXGSo8uf9H XfPteKq9JCdRxs68dmZHQFn8yIwc6YVdHz94YXq5ZdGXSv3q3XmpBI8F1trfhInHZdeYGw dqLarVdzPWKGORE4GgXcmPF8RvtYvv/wE/iROBrQU7eKafH2JoMxuHZKv0PCs71LaqzcL7 nBBwI33QtWEqk+/UszP1Io5HYKIEzrLvxcn2Wf+xTYbzjAKEPfX5nJg3iOfSuU0t8RzYp7 O7N/EGTqkAn/V3v12hzEPY0KpaJRSEJTzjOA26YN/9ypphYDz4mRzEpwDrsdXA== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1705266003; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=NiCRTfppmCzBQdqzznpsoGzwBi0q4Tk2XEZ3PYFeXNtnGH9MdQ0U8Ttuwh6pw8iJS2NeqH Fo7ULyW35W6ARvEWcB2oaPwicYGoSP109sIIzPUfn1l7aC8JXAv5DoaW4DxN0b/ZMUFI74 jL8nW0N9iV5Wusi7YsAqK2SIaRASJGw7P/ctk6Eajk4T4s8bW9TE9ih59aE+Nloi+moi4G n8Ts7+6c52WcWpW2WmFmcp4RDSJUoIMwPz1pYlQ+nqxlUh3uJiQFuMnJGGERUqNF9H+ZCc nFmYd+XuCcmTRWIkVdgK6rc9WNBq/hkhJC6BFBbmG/sqpBZJyczGv6GroiRUGw== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4TCnhz0RgJzSlm for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 21:00:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 40EL03Uu077466 for ; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 21:00:03 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from bugzilla@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 40EL02mP077445 for usb@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 14 Jan 2024 21:00:02 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org) Message-Id: <202401142100.40EL02mP077445@kenobi.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: bugzilla set sender to bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@FreeBSD.org To: usb@FreeBSD.org Subject: Problem reports for usb@FreeBSD.org that need special attention Date: Sun, 14 Jan 2024 21:00:02 +0000 List-Id: FreeBSD List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-usb List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-usb@freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-usb@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="17052660021.9bEefa1E.76732" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit --17052660021.9bEefa1E.76732 Date: Sun, 14 Jan 2024 21:00:02 +0000 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" To view an individual PR, use: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=(Bug Id).
