Zeeb --- So you are trying to associate (or re-associate). For as-to-why in that mo= ment is unclear. wpa suplicant log in syslog may tell you more. Possibly have = to up the -dd there. When that happens iwlwifi says it hasn't seen the necessary state update in time and calls connection loss which will take the session down and the next attempt will likely succeed given you say "sub-second". Could it be you are in a noisy radio environment? Just checking before fur= ther digging in. Also which chipset+firmware is this? Seems the firmware is not enabling a lot of debugging (seen that for other = bits as well and doesn't seem us). I haven't tested but can you try adding the following one line change. Will give us at least an idea about why iwlwifi thinks to notify the lost connection. My first thought always is missing beacons but in this case probably a time event? --- sys/contrib/dev/iwlwifi/mvm/utils.c +++ sys/contrib/dev/iwlwifi/mvm/utils.c @@ -730,6 +730,7 @@ void iwl_mvm_connection_loss(struct iwl_mvm *mvm, struct ieee80211_vif *vif, iwl_fw_dbg_collect_trig(&mvm->fwrt, trig, "%s", errmsg); out: + printf("%s: %s\n", __func__, errmsg); ieee80211_connection_loss(vif); } --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From nobody Tue Feb 27 06:24:31 2024 X-Original-To: wireless@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4TkSBS04T1z5CYvG for ; Tue, 27 Feb 2024 06:24:32 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4TkSBR0lSkz4RNH for ; Tue, 27 Feb 2024 06:24:31 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1709015071; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=wXEydh/ZFxRSYwiYT2i9XptohHMiV9KETiv3mDAu9XgBLmdg2HiFrykUbfogrgdFSVvG15 CKMGm/FU/vTGdJYeJQElPkS0EL+JUWRAfb1XXEM/hs6pPVostSltcJnKkxX8K0lqmzL8YG ajEBY+8KAlSiTaVK/pzqVd/kZJnjcIR4egRB21HnEks0h5l9uVhErxw02BFc/twsZ/B1Iq aDv0XltMapR7Zf+ggRv1AKwj5Ifc7xjqqm9JEmRXhuHsYeVHCqIX9TZQPLlmIDShZy964w lO/C8BFC8vGkAisWWh+09wlvw24sUXjWbNRdCACTErnOZGniH6yAwm7+lMggGA== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1709015071; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=I6eDWStOuwbgt5LeBpVB8x5+ycHzCtO7rB62iDaRFUw=; b=TVOHLtIUkuzf4wAVEAZXWfpqMQqrBz0P5pix5mmtG5Gj1hOCHCE7/Nm3+mPGykRbkbbBT9 g597zZuyw4MbGBWp7gN+bEZ/dgQYTPnEqbvkzLv7sqoyGXMaGOWrhxU+VkFTsQTHoIpHsf lLEDmKg66y8RKz/BN2Cp9UgUBdslgVFucBLfx14j8hKlvmpiJ8CNJRZMN8NkmdKB8xk8Rw Pu4gMk65PPgJ4FCX5EfHm3VBCzAl7xH8NVgPxRkiEFM3AsReZB2NXQMs7g8313i+C7SsUR J3HeF+c1BBkGveBBGZx53519sf8Namu4Il4wyMRTDP/64CiNhEINAXwJNoa8vw== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4TkSBQ6s2vz11sM for ; Tue, 27 Feb 2024 06:24:30 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 41R6OUJj036638 for ; Tue, 27 Feb 2024 06:24:30 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 41R6OUvR036633 for wireless@FreeBSD.org; Tue, 27 Feb 2024 06:24:30 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: wireless@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 277336] Occasional iwlwifi instability Date: Tue, 27 Feb 2024 06:24:31 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: wireless X-Bugzilla-Version: 15.0-CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: rkoberman@gmail.com X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: wireless@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: Discussions List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-wireless List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D277336 --- Comment #2 from rkoberman@gmail.com --- I really did not look at this properly. Zeeb --- (In reply to Li-Wen Hsu from comment #0) I didn't even know we had that feature in ifconfig. Given the order you are running this I wouldn't know why it shouldn't work. Do you get any logging from iwlwifi? Given you do start wpa_supplicant with lots of debugging, what does it thin= k?=20 Any specific errors there? Alternatively before you do the ifconfig wlan0 up/start wpa_supplicant, can= you in a 2nd terminal start ifconfig -v wlan0 > /var/tmp/iwlwifi.txt tcpdump -ln -s0 -e -vvv -i wlan0 -y IEEE802_11_RADIO -w /var/tmp/iwlwifi.pc= ap and send bz/cc the two files so we can have a peak. Zeeb from comment #56) What I understand after reading the comment #49, is that there is still remaining work to do to fix this `Invalid TXQ id` problem. And if I underst= and correctly, D43944 and D43967 still needs to be reviewed and be committed in main, and then MFC. Given D43944 and D43967 do not solve the problem, I have to test them for regression. Currently, I have tested them on fbsd-15-current VMs in [1], [2] and [3] below. No regression found. They are all using fbsd-15-current kern= els, but only [3] can reproduce all the problems in this PR. [1] rebuilt kernel to fbsd-15-current based on fbsd-15-current iso [2] rebuilt kernel/World to fbsd-15-current based on fbsd-14.0-release iso [3] rebuilt kernel/World to fbsd-15-current based on fbsd-13.2-release iso I am not sure the regression test policy on stable/14 and stable/13, and al= so not clear how many patches have been committed there. If there is a branch tracking list for each patch, that would be very helpful. Therefore, I am intending to cover regression tests in these two stable branches, which mea= ns I need to create VMs and start from there. Please let me know if there is any concern. Also please let me know if I mi= ssed any new patches for this PR. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From nobody Thu Feb 29 18:33:06 2024 X-Original-To: wireless@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4Tm0GB33rpz5Cgwy for ; Thu, 29 Feb 2024 18:33:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org", Issuer "R3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4Tm0GB0JHwz4Npm for ; Thu, 29 Feb 2024 18:33:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) ARC-Seal: i=1; s=dkim; d=freebsd.org; t=1709231586; a=rsa-sha256; cv=none; b=mOpC7W3T4Bvg4sGtS/QYjhCBOC49HY04ZJKuXv+qabS5sFnl45f3mr7T/nXu3ajg8rkXU+ UwufG+AyPSL2vW+Ls1bfmMp64GbdJvq7kZYP6ekPWP2+hWiW3avboI5gFLnydkskzz3c2P bPdYKcwVIpXajKHZtI9QdEtwrWDUjvd2X8/+bg3Ya8GoB3E5bMMgnXkUJ7euMnTZEo/mn8 yZwvl08PeuG7LyVpJaAmmXwFV2cIsV7txcg4iOw5tbrB2Gipa1QK677905R5kvI0xwlR04 IUPnfLbOWb3CxEezNPb0cEim9Lw2aXOLr8kL42a3gKnfnZ6tZ1+Oi4vmiSk26g== ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx1.freebsd.org; none ARC-Message-Signature: i=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=freebsd.org; s=dkim; t=1709231586; h=from:from:reply-to:subject:subject:date:date:message-id:message-id: to:to:cc:mime-version:mime-version:content-type:content-type: content-transfer-encoding:content-transfer-encoding: in-reply-to:in-reply-to:references:references; bh=mB1pdbHi4bIWSKkpPg0BbSPAT28zk9fI2fXI3y9hezY=; b=dhZk3fLB4t5cyNgog3nPUWn4aq/lI95F47BSfNPJZ5eFVKOo7sA6hB7XyEpQd0xsbuSh1j QhBtfZ0MgFY+w0IiShi5mlhSIMyuJV+8F3c7gWPHbDJYAQO8GgYgeM9cjJ/JEuJSeEA9mn 8N7eGF2VeoLG9W45QkccDLUIFfbiouAepk/pDL57ja3z2GsfO04Am5mnTdKM/wqXCPtwzp ZUKVGBbLttdGBhJWxNZpdhkUIRAsQzW2vNO8zKN/qtH7jSfCvwtHpBAvZFqjwKrHWRCdxg kjCcOaqmrZxC22IiSUL1jTWoiIzvulal9LUbF7Zo4GvMcWhY42nbtzMjDOZjbQ== Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::50:1d]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4Tm0G971q8zsyM for ; Thu, 29 Feb 2024 18:33:05 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.5]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id 41TIX5SC018737 for ; Thu, 29 Feb 2024 18:33:05 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id 41TIX5KZ018736 for wireless@FreeBSD.org; Thu, 29 Feb 2024 18:33:05 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: wireless@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 193512] ath0: bb hang detected (0x1), resetting for AR9287 Date: Thu, 29 Feb 2024 18:33:06 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: wireless X-Bugzilla-Version: CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: freebsd.3m963@dabg.uk X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: wireless@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: cc Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated List-Id: Discussions List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-wireless List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D193512 bermudi changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- CC| |freebsd.3m963@dabg.uk --- Comment #11 from bermudi --- I can report same issue on an old Toshiba NB200 using FreeBSD-14.0-i386 `ath0: bb hang detected (0x1), resetting` every couple of minutes - connect= ion seems fine. sometimes the system boots and ath0 seems unresponsive. Zeeb --- I believe the first half of the problem is a duplicate of PR 275255 with a = more recent incarnation after other changes. It seems that for the "older" iwlwifi (FW) API something else we do already removes the station from the firmware and so when we try to explicitly do i= t we get an error; from there on state is out of sync and follow-up errors happ= en. The second half seems (locking) could be an issue and shouldn't happen, but= I wonder as-to how much that is also an error recovery path or due to out-of-= sync something (in net80211) happened which shouldn't. That part will need sepa= rate investigation.
