The xen4.18.2 kernel loads and runs with FreeBSD-13.1 on this system. Thank you for the help getting it going. However, I've run into another issue. When building the xen-tools package, when I try to install the package, or build a pkg file, I get the error: ===> Building packages for xen-tools-4.18.2.20240411_1 ===> Building xen-tools-4.18.2.20240411_1 pkg-static: pkg_checksum_hash_sha256_file(read failed): Is a directory pkg-static: pkg_checksum_hash_sha256_file(read failed): Is a directory *** Error code 1 Stop. make[1]: stopped in /usr/ports/sysutils/xen-tools *** Error code 1 The directory in question is: /usr/ports/sysutils/work/stage/usr/local/lib/python3.9/site-packages/xen-3.0-py3.9.egg-info On the 4.16.0 xen-tools build, that path leads to a file, not a directory. And, yes, I did a fresh portsnap from an empty ports directory and built the package several times, with a make clean between those attempts, just to make sure I didn't have some cruft laying about from my efforts to get all the pieces updated. Is this a known issue? -thanks -Brian From nobody Tue Apr 23 08:26:07 2024 X-Original-To: xen@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4VNwDz2rXcz5JkYq for ; Tue, 23 Apr 2024 08:26:11 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from roger.pau@cloud.com) Received: from mail-wm1-x336.google.com (mail-wm1-x336.google.com [IPv6:2a00:1450:4864:20::336]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_128_GCM_SHA256 (128/128 bits) key-exchange X25519 server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) server-digest SHA256 client-signature RSA-PSS (2048 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "smtp.gmail.com", Issuer "GTS CA 1D4" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4VNwDy54HMz44SR for ; Tue, 23 Apr 2024 08:26:10 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from roger.pau@cloud.com) Authentication-Results: mx1.freebsd.org; none Received: by mail-wm1-x336.google.com with SMTP id 5b1f17b1804b1-41aa45251eeso7057345e9.3 for ; Tue, 23 Apr 2024 01:26:10 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=citrix.com; s=google; t=1713860769; x=1714465569; darn=freebsd.org; h=in-reply-to:content-disposition:mime-version:references:message-id :subject:cc:to:from:date:from:to:cc:subject:date:message-id:reply-to; bh=ur6J0HWkSUcRWg7mxOk+2CQZA3Xa2x3LLuHXAyP0fQE=; b=GqlDKa48LbqEU4VHFnUl4yh77e7/jxIFmHOjY+7bdFoskqdzTNIR5RcPbwxOy+ddZq FhdPxFUF69l4vz/Xm5IVYvJTX4FXjdogG0qv3OuENyOH7CnfpqxExL66/uUUV3f3wzxO WaWeBSeylKpWlfiMQj4f50HSEAU/4YsxO4QmQ= X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20230601; t=1713860769; x=1714465569; h=in-reply-to:content-disposition:mime-version:references:message-id :subject:cc:to:from:date:x-gm-message-state:from:to:cc:subject:date :message-id:reply-to; bh=ur6J0HWkSUcRWg7mxOk+2CQZA3Xa2x3LLuHXAyP0fQE=; b=GmckY5pLmlj1drsJYJRMkJpMWvs1tR0thEodHUypRNyJVeFfQmpjEdNrYlZS8zna7v QWzmKrLzCqOH1WZ3qVSjJVKx4TVT9uFI0ufbDUTK/32AsAwgowNWRffqlq/WYZBnpKoi LEsYyqLc7HDjsaPrdX1HDGSshq/JoQAd951SFXFaqAkB/KSgQoV/wK32/NSBcmPshYVw /u7OvOGLzfcg7EhISNNgoMT6Yk7aXamoztYlkBa3OK7PBmaeSSxWCZFlxHzDpjJLSMx/ ZfMsXQL6XoCn3tkkUewPKlZCogIPh+Mp3b5zc8czddrpzen9Pox8/t1CGOdeNiFu6vzg WakA== X-Gm-Message-State: AOJu0YzyV4lKG2e5xuipRc9kgTHF3/NfNOjGCtK9A8PThoaSWUUMsZIe mZPykEor/YRGcl5LIAErMXeoZ9oEzE8XeTJpcAUcbpdeeWpKqJGcsgYBLXO5eo9mPJU6lnAYOJ/ t X-Google-Smtp-Source: AGHT+IHadoqxtwtaNzOX0HW0oE1S3dgCM+0UbDsOW/E8ULXbMBc1XhGQlrekq/Mi3motBTdD47bGoA== X-Received: by 2002:a05:600c:4751:b0:418:fe93:22d0 with SMTP id w17-20020a05600c475100b00418fe9322d0mr6907876wmo.11.1713860768727; Tue, 23 Apr 2024 01:26:08 -0700 (PDT) Received: from localhost ([213.195.114.223]) by smtp.gmail.com with ESMTPSA id n33-20020a05600c502100b0041a652a501fsm5446195wmr.13.2024.04.23.01.26.08 (version=TLS1_3 cipher=TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 bits=256/256); Tue, 23 Apr 2024 01:26:08 -0700 (PDT) Date: Tue, 23 Apr 2024 10:26:07 +0200 From: Roger Pau =?utf-8?B?TW9ubsOp?= To: Brian Buhrow Cc: xen@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Xen-4.16.0 + FreeBSD-13.1 dom0 fails on large ADM64 system Message-ID: References: <202404222330.43MNUTw5024316@nfbcal.org> List-Id: Discussion List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-xen List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-BeenThere: freebsd-xen@freebsd.org Sender: owner-freebsd-xen@FreeBSD.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <202404222330.43MNUTw5024316@nfbcal.org> X-Spamd-Bar: ---- X-Rspamd-Pre-Result: action=no action; module=replies; Message is reply to one we originated X-Spamd-Result: default: False [-4.00 / 15.00]; REPLY(-4.00)[]; ASN(0.00)[asn:15169, ipnet:2a00:1450::/32, country:US] X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: 4VNwDy54HMz44SR On Mon, Apr 22, 2024 at 04:30:29PM -0700, Brian Buhrow wrote: > hello Roger. Hello, I'm afraid I haven't seen this, neither have the package builds reported any errors. Just checked myself on my 15.0 test box by doing a `make build` of xen-tools and it worked OK. It's possible some combination of the ports installed on your system is causing those issues, but my knowledge of ports is quite limited. Maybe worth asking on some wider ports list? It's possible I'm doing something wrong on the xen-tools port. Regards, Roger.
