I made the obvious mistake of asking Zeitnet themselves the following two questions: 1. Was the product support or available under FreeBSD 2. What is the price of the product. Both questions have been answered with a stunning silence. So perhaps the people on atm@freebsd.org have some answers? [soap box on] the two things that really p*ss me off these days about the internet and business in general are: 1. No one takes queries via email seriously. 2. Everyone finds it perfectly acceptable to leave you on hold for 20 minutes. [soap box off] Thanks for your indulgence. -- Brian Litzinger brian@mpress.com From owner-freebsd-atm Thu Jan 16 14:49:13 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) id OAA19229 for atm-outgoing; Thu, 16 Jan 1997 14:49:13 -0800 (PST) Received: from didier.ee.gatech.edu (didier.ee.gatech.edu [130.207.230.10]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) with ESMTP id OAA19220 for ; Thu, 16 Jan 1997 14:49:10 -0800 (PST) Received: from sigloch.eecom.gatech.edu (sigloch.eecom.gatech.edu [130.207.231.31]) by didier.ee.gatech.edu (8.8.4/8.8.4) with ESMTP id RAA18890; Thu, 16 Jan 1997 17:48:54 -0500 (EST) From: Myung Cheon Choi Received: (from myung@localhost) by sigloch.eecom.gatech.edu (8.8.4/8.8.4) id RAA12438; Thu, 16 Jan 1997 17:48:53 -0500 (EST) Message-Id: <199701162248.RAA12438@sigloch.eecom.gatech.edu> Subject: MPOA To: freebsd-atm@freebsd.org, linux-atm@lrc.epfl.ch Date: Thu, 16 Jan 1997 17:48:52 -0500 (EST) X-Mailer: ELM [version 2.4 PL25] MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-atm@freebsd.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk Dear People, Is anybody working on MPOA in FreeBSD or Linux? The distributor is Cabletron. If you look at the web site, it will point to the Cabletron. Zeitnet said they are putting BSD information on the Cabletron's web site, you can imagine how fast you will put my web page on you web site :-) The installation is made very simple for BSDs (BSDi/FreeBSD), typically for 2.2 release. The loadable driver has passed testing under 2.2-BETA. The rest support that every user needs is how to set (configure) the ATM subsystem. Here is some tips: SVC is configured at installation time if you know the NSAP address of the switch doing the ATMARP server. You can manually complish this in modifying /etc/zninit.db file. Two lines needs to be modified, 1) replace NSAP address in it (very obvious format), and 2) change word PVC/LOCAL to SVC. done. To configure to use PVC: if you do not give NSAP at installation time, it will automatically configured to use PVC method. There is a example line for PVC set up. Duplicate it, and modify the duplcated line. done. It should come with a zninit.db.example file which contains all different ATM configurations. Any questions, you may disscuss at this mail group. -Jin
