Once I'm there and attempt to access one of the issues, I receive the message "NETSCAPE HAS CAUSED A GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT IN MODULE NETSCAPE.EXE AT 000C:52D3" I have not been able to load past this point. It also occurred when I was using Internet Explorer. My associates have been able to access the site with no problems. I'm using a 386/33 PC with 8 meg of Ram; two hard drives; a Zoom 28.8 internal modem with a dedicated telephone line. I have no problem whatsoever accessing other points on the net. This is the only site I have this problem with. Any suggestions? Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-doc@FreeBSD.ORG X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk First of all I would like to commend the FreeBSD team for the technical accuracy of all the online help files. After experienceing Microsoft help files, it's refreshing to find an organization that realizes the importance of accurate help files. I was recently installing FreeBSD 2.1.6 on a machine with a PS/2 mouse port, and I had difficulty getting the port to work. The problem was that I didn't completely understand the kernel config file. Version 2.1.6 apparently builds a config file with the psm0 device line allready there, with one little ( big ) difference. Right after the isa? option, the keyword disable is inserted. device psm0 at isa? disable port "IO_KBD" conflicts tty irq 12 vector psmintr To the uninitiated, the part after isa? looks like some sort of information to the kernel to disable IO_KBD because it conflicts with the psm0 device. To make a long story short, I was thinking that it might be a good idea to revise the FAQ section 3.9.1 to add a statement something to the effect: If your kernel already has a psm0 device, make sure that it is enabled by removing the disable option, so the entry reads: device psm0 at isa? port "IO_KBD" conflicts tty irq 12 vector psmintr PS: Is there any documentation available on kernel config file syntax and options? Thanks Earl. But I am getting the following problems in the final installation with the boot disk. When the program gets to the part of giving the following message "Logging in to anonymous@ftp.freebsd.org.." it hangs there a while, and inevitably it will come back with the message "Couldn't open FTP connection to ftp.freebsd.org: Service not available, closing control connection" This happened with many other different sites available in the menu option. First of all, is the self-install program doing the right thing by logging in as "anonymous@ftp.freebsd.org"? Should I (or can I) change any of the login commands? Help, I'm stuck with a non-working system, and will appreciate any feedback! regards sfque From owner-freebsd-doc Sat Mar 22 22:20:06 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) id WAA25536 for doc-outgoing; Sat, 22 Mar 1997 22:20:06 -0800 (PST) Received: from giasbm01.vsnl.net.in (giasbm01.vsnl.net.in [202.54.1.18]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id WAA25474 for ; Sat, 22 Mar 1997 22:19:58 -0800 (PST) Received: from ediindia ([202.54.28.177]) by giasbm01.vsnl.net.in (8.7.6/8.7.3) with SMTP id LAA26430 for ; Sun, 23 Mar 1997 11:50:49 +0530 (IST) Message-ID: <3333787D.6967@202.54.1.18> Date: Sat, 22 Mar 1997 11:43:17 +0530 From: Cyber Organization: CyberWorld X-Mailer: Mozilla 2.01 (Win95; U) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: manual X-URL: http://utgard.bga.com/handbook/handbook.html Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-doc@FreeBSD.ORG X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk Kindly send a manual for ferr bsd Snehal Patel KIRTI TELNET PVT.LTD. 610 Shite Ratna, Panchvati Circle, Off C.G.Road, Ahmedabad 380 006, INDIA
