Now, with more than 300 pages and over 30.000 daily hits, the TravelShop has carved out a place for itself at the peak of the tourism-related on-line marketplaces. Since September 97, the TravelShop is present on the Web in a completely revised and enhanced version. In addition to an improved layout, additional categories and an integrated search engine, there is also a terrific new contest. Please do stop by: http://www.travelshop.de/index-e.html Many thanks. What's wrong with Chuck (the daemon)? I've noticed that some of the man pages are out of date when concerning /etc/sysconfig (i.e. they still refer people to /etc/sysconfig when they should point people to /etc/rc.conf..) - it would be nice if someone were to scan the man pages looking for outdated references like this! Otherwise, pick an area you think is poorly documented and start writing! You can also check out http://www.vmunix.com/fbsd-book/ which is an effort I'm involved with to produce a "book like" documentation set for new users. We can always use feedback and/or additions! cya, -Mark > > regards, > Jack Miller > > e-mail: > personal - jvmiller@earthlink.net > professional - jmiller@midway.com -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mark Mayo mark@vmunix.com RingZero Comp. http://www.vmunix.com/mark finger mark@vmunix.com for my PGP key and GCS code ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Win95/NT - 32 bit extensions and a graphical shell for a 16 bit patch to an an 8 bit operating system originally coded for a 4 bit microprocessor, written by a 2 bit company that can't stand 1 bit of competition. -UGU From owner-freebsd-doc Wed Nov 12 00:16:28 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.7/8.8.7) id AAA01886 for doc-outgoing; Wed, 12 Nov 1997 00:16:28 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-doc) Received: from andrsn.stanford.edu (root@andrsn.Stanford.EDU [36.33.0.163]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.7/8.8.7) with ESMTP id AAA01874 for ; Wed, 12 Nov 1997 00:16:22 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from andrsn@andrsn.stanford.edu) Received: from localhost (andrsn@localhost.stanford.edu [127.0.0.1]) by andrsn.stanford.edu (8.8.7/8.6.12) with SMTP id AAA01812; Wed, 12 Nov 1997 00:13:21 -0800 (PST) Date: Wed, 12 Nov 1997 00:13:20 -0800 (PST) From: Annelise Anderson To: James Fitness cc: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: Setup Instructions In-Reply-To: <34692A5C.46F71D87@datascribe.com.au> Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk On Wed, 12 Nov 1997, James Fitness wrote: > Instructions not bad..got it installed ok in the end (by ftp) > But then what? > Reboot and get asked for Login in and password? > what login and what password ? - can seem to find any > explination in these setup help pages. > the ``typical installation sequence'' ends short of what to do > after rebooting the first time. > > Frustrated > > James Fitness See http://www.freebsd.org/newuser/newuser.html for exactly what to do after rebooting the first time...and quite a lot more.
