We are pleased to announce release 1.0 of the University of Illinois 
Portable Parallel File System (PPFS).  PPFS is a user-level library 
for parallel I/O.  For information on PPFS, including the distribution 
source code, see http://www-pablo.cs.uiuc.edu/Projects/PPFS

Features as of Version 1.0:

  -Caching (client-level and server-level) 
  -Write-behind (dynamically reconfigurable) 
  -Prefetching (dynamically reconfigurable) 
  -Socket control for dynamic reconfiguration 
  -MPI platforms 
  -Pablo tracing support for tuning 
  -Updated documentation 
  -Expanded suite of sample programs 

Currently supported (tested) platforms:

  -Convex Exemplar 
     MPICH (a portable implementation of MPI) 
     PVM 
  -IBM SP-2 
     MPICH
     MPI-F (an IBM implementation of MPI) 
  -Intel Paragon XP/S 
     NX
  -SGI Power Challenge 
     MPICH
  -Sun Solaris 
     MPICH
     PVM 

Support for additional platforms will come in later releases.
