A local cameraman captured it on video for me, and I am keen to have it in digital format. Which is the format of choice? I'd like a format I can play on X, as well as something I can put up on a web page. The local blokes are quite expensive, and reckon thay can put it in a CD in quicktime, but say that that will be quite large. I know @#$%-all about multimedia and video. Suggestions? I have the same results here, but not with all sites. Sometimes it works. I notice it *always* plays the commercial on the online radio feeds, but fails on the music 8-) . There is also a message saying to check the error number (I believe it's 50) at the realaudio site, but I haven't done this yet. -Jim Durham From owner-freebsd-multimedia Sat Jan 11 20:46:41 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) id UAA01670 for multimedia-outgoing; Sat, 11 Jan 1997 20:46:41 -0800 (PST) Received: from w2xo.pgh.pa.us (w2xo.pgh.pa.us [206.210.70.5]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) with ESMTP id UAA01665 for ; Sat, 11 Jan 1997 20:46:35 -0800 (PST) Received: from w2xo.pgh.pa.us (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by w2xo.pgh.pa.us (8.8.4/8.8.4) with SMTP id XAA23920 for ; Sat, 11 Jan 1997 23:46:55 -0500 (EST) Message-ID: <32D86CBF.7DE14518@w2xo.pgh.pa.us> Date: Sat, 11 Jan 1997 23:46:55 -0500 From: Jim Durham Organization: Dis- X-Mailer: Mozilla 3.01Gold (X11; I; FreeBSD 2.1.6-RELEASE i386) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.org Subject: Netscape Gold Helpers Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-multimedia@FreeBSD.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk I recently upgraded to Netscape Gold 3.01 for FreeBSD. I am running 2.1.5, Pentium 120Mhz, 32Mb ram. Here is the description of my sound card from the dmesg command: sb0 at 0x220 irq 7 drq 1 on isa sb0: sbxvi0 at 0x0 drq 5 on isa sbxvo0: sbmidi0 at 0x330 on isa After the system comes up, I can cat audio files (au type) to /dev/audio and it plays for a second or so and then hangs. I can ctrl-c and cat again, but only for a second. Seems like a buffer problem. I don't know where to start looking. Any help would be appreciated...
