Feedback on any problems you experience with this port is appreciated. -- j. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- | James FitzGibbon james@nexis.net | | Integrator, The Nexis Group Voice/Fax : 416 410-0100 | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- From owner-freebsd-ports Sun Jan 19 15:59:21 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) id PAA25572 for ports-outgoing; Sun, 19 Jan 1997 15:59:21 -0800 (PST) Received: from dfw-ix3.ix.netcom.com (dfw-ix3.ix.netcom.com [206.214.98.3]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) with SMTP id PAA25561 for ; Sun, 19 Jan 1997 15:59:15 -0800 (PST) Received: from baloon.mimi.com (sjx-ca55-01.ix.netcom.com [206.214.106.97]) by dfw-ix3.ix.netcom.com (8.6.13/8.6.12) with ESMTP id PAA14037; Sun, 19 Jan 1997 15:58:37 -0800 Received: (from asami@localhost) by baloon.mimi.com (8.8.4/8.6.12) id PAA02850; Sun, 19 Jan 1997 15:58:34 -0800 (PST) Date: Sun, 19 Jan 1997 15:58:34 -0800 (PST) Message-Id: <199701192358.PAA02850@baloon.mimi.com> To: james@nexis.net CC: freebsd-ports@freebsd.org In-reply-to: (message from James FitzGibbon on Sun, 19 Jan 1997 15:13:39 -0500 (EST)) Subject: Re: For mSQL users... When I try, I get: This is because the port now relies on current's (and 2.2's) installation of tcl, which 2.1.5 doesn't have. You'd want to get the old 2.1.5 port of tk, which would have built for that version of freebsd. ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Chuck Robey | Interests include any kind of voice or data chuckr@eng.umd.edu | communications topic, C programming, and Unix. 9120 Edmonston Ct #302 | Greenbelt, MD 20770 | I run Journey2 and picnic, both FreeBSD (301) 220-2114 | version 3.0 current -- and great FUN! ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- From owner-freebsd-ports Sun Jan 19 21:30:05 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) id VAA11731 for ports-outgoing; Sun, 19 Jan 1997 21:30:05 -0800 (PST) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) id VAA11725; Sun, 19 Jan 1997 21:30:03 -0800 (PST) Resent-Date: Sun, 19 Jan 1997 21:30:03 -0800 (PST) Resent-Message-Id: <199701200530.VAA11725@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: gnats (GNATS Management) Resent-To: freebsd-ports Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats@freefall.FreeBSD.org, mi@aldan.ziplink.net Received: from www.video-collage.com ([199.232.240.107]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) with ESMTP id VAA11442 for ; Sun, 19 Jan 1997 21:22:12 -0800 (PST) Received: (from root@localhost) by www.video-collage.com (8.8.0/8.8.0) id AAA10269; Mon, 20 Jan 1997 00:20:22 -0500 (EST) Message-Id: <199701200520.AAA10269@www.video-collage.com> Date: Mon, 20 Jan 1997 00:20:22 -0500 (EST) From: Mikhail Teterin Reply-To: mi@aldan.ziplink.net To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@freebsd.org X-Send-Pr-Version: 3.2 Subject: ports/2534: p5-Image-size should depend on net/p5-IO Sender: owner-ports@freebsd.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk >Number: 2534 >Category: ports >Synopsis: graphics/p5-Image-size should depend on net/p5-IO >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-ports >State: open >Class: sw-bug >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Sun Jan 19 21:30:02 PST 1997 >Last-Modified: >Originator: Misha Teterin >Organization: Video Collage >Release: FreeBSD 2.2-960612-SNAP i386 >Environment: >Description: p5-Image-size installs perl5.003 (even though 5.002 is already there and most likely works just fine), but misses the net/p5-IO port, which is required for the run of imgsize As a result p5-Image-size port is unusable >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: Install the said net/p5-IO . I'm trying to build 'expect', which needs tk4.1 which needs tcl, which needs...? Under 2.1.5, I could build tk4.1, now I can't build it under 2.1.6. I also now don't seem to be able to build tk-3.6 (dies in tkEvent.c, 'tcl_AsyncReady' undeclared). Uninstalling the whole mess and starting from scratch now, *nothing* seems to build and there really doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason to it. The only way I know to approach this is to start with the final product (building expect) and work backwards, but this seems to lead me in an ever-descending spiral, breaking things as I go. -Dave From owner-freebsd-ports Mon Jan 20 10:27:53 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) id KAA16231 for ports-outgoing; Mon, 20 Jan 1997 10:27:53 -0800 (PST) Received: from po2.glue.umd.edu (root@po2.glue.umd.edu [129.2.128.45]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) with ESMTP id KAA16224 for ; Mon, 20 Jan 1997 10:27:49 -0800 (PST) Received: from baud.eng.umd.edu (baud.eng.umd.edu [129.2.98.183]) by po2.glue.umd.edu (8.8.3/8.7.3) with ESMTP id NAA01819; Mon, 20 Jan 1997 13:27:44 -0500 (EST) Received: from localhost (chuckr@localhost) by baud.eng.umd.edu (8.8.3/8.7.3) with SMTP id NAA08619; Mon, 20 Jan 1997 13:27:43 -0500 (EST) X-Authentication-Warning: baud.eng.umd.edu: chuckr owned process doing -bs Date: Mon, 20 Jan 1997 13:27:42 -0500 (EST) From: Chuck Robey X-Sender: chuckr@baud.eng.umd.edu To: Dave Babler cc: ports@freebsd.org Subject: Re: can't build tk41 port In-Reply-To: Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Sender: owner-ports@freebsd.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk On Mon, 20 Jan 1997, Dave Babler wrote: > Okay, now I am *really* confused. Maybe 6 months ago, tcl was brought into current, and the tk41 port was made to compile for a tcl that was installed with the system. At that point, you could no longer use the tk41 port to make tk41 on an older (which means 2.1.5) system. Expect depends on both tcl and tk, naturally. Why don't you use the tk41 and tcl75 ports from the 2.1.5 cd? The software on that cd doesn't know about tcl being brought into FreeBSD, and should compile fine on your system. If you don't have the cd handy, tell me, I'll dig it out, get all 3 ports (expect, tcl75, and tk41) from it and mail them to you. ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- From owner-freebsd-ports Mon Jan 20 11:05:28 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) id LAA18504 for ports-outgoing; Mon, 20 Jan 1997 11:05:28 -0800 (PST) Received: from Campino.Informatik.RWTH-Aachen.DE (campino.Informatik.RWTH-Aachen.DE [137.226.116.240]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) with ESMTP id LAA18491 for ; Mon, 20 Jan 1997 11:05:09 -0800 (PST) Received: from gilberto.physik.rwth-aachen.de (gilberto.physik.rwth-aachen.de [137.226.31.2]) by Campino.Informatik.RWTH-Aachen.DE (RBI-Z-5/8.6.12) with ESMTP id UAA06679 for ; Mon, 20 Jan 1997 20:07:09 +0100 (MET) Received: (from kuku@localhost) by gilberto.physik.rwth-aachen.de (8.8.3/8.6.9) id UAA21190 for freebsd-ports@freefall.cdrom.com; Mon, 20 Jan 1997 20:05:57 +0100 (MET) Date: Mon, 20 Jan 1997 20:05:57 +0100 (MET) From: Christoph Kukulies Message-Id: <199701201905.UAA21190@gilberto.physik.rwth-aachen.de> To: freebsd-ports@freefall.FreeBSD.org Subject: ip-fil3.1.4 (not yet a port) Sender: owner-ports@FreeBSD.ORG X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk I'm having some difficulties compiling ipfil 3.1.4 under -current. For this particular kind of merge, I don't think it is necessary to do anything about the CVS history. Just merge the last revision into the main msql port, all you will lose is the history on the msql-beta subtree, which I assume is not going to be much. FYI, if it's going to be merged in the other direction, i.e. if the new port is going to be called "msql2" or something and the old one is to disappear (like tcl/tk ports), then it is necessary to do a repository copy BEFORE importing the new port. The bug appears to be triggered as a result of calling auth_delete_socket() twice after a disconnect where (X?) authentication forwarding is in effect. The environment running here is FreeBSD, -current (3.0) version. This problem becomes obvious when configuring the system malloc(3) to fill freed memory with junk on free(), and if abort() on such an error is enabled, sshd will loop in the SIGABRT handler, using as much cpu and memory as is available to it. The simplest way of avoiding the problem is to set two variables to NULL after being freed. Apply the following patch as a fix: *** newchannels.c.orig Wed Jan 22 04:22:57 1997 --- newchannels.c Wed Jan 22 04:12:48 1997 *************** *** 1789,1799 **** --- 1789,1801 ---- { remove(channel_forwarded_auth_socket_name); xfree(channel_forwarded_auth_socket_name); + channel_forwarded_auth_socket_name = NULL; } if (channel_forwarded_auth_socket_dir_name) { rmdir(channel_forwarded_auth_socket_dir_name); xfree(channel_forwarded_auth_socket_dir_name); + channel_forwarded_auth_socket_dir_name = NULL; } } Regards, David Nugent - Unique Computing Pty Ltd - Melbourne, Australia Voice +61-3-9791-9547 Data/BBS +61-3-9792-3507 3:632/348@fidonet davidn@freebsd.org davidn@blaze.net.au http://www.blaze.net.au/~davidn/ From owner-freebsd-ports Tue Jan 21 12:40:09 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) id MAA11389 for ports-outgoing; Tue, 21 Jan 1997 12:40:09 -0800 (PST) Received: from who.cdrom.com (who.cdrom.com [204.216.27.3]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.8.4/8.8.4) with ESMTP id MAA11383 for ; Tue, 21 Jan 1997 12:40:07 -0800 (PST) Received: from sbservices.com (root@[207.51.66.2]) by who.cdrom.com (8.7.5/8.6.11) with ESMTP id MAA12427 for ; Tue, 21 Jan 1997 12:40:05 -0800 (PST) Received: from thoth.sbservices.com (root@thoth.sbservices.com [169.1.20.10]) by sbservices.com (8.7.5/8.7.3) with ESMTP id PAA27477 for ; Tue, 21 Jan 1997 15:39:11 -0500 (EST) Received: from site2s1.sbservices.com (site2.sbservices.com [169.2.160.40]) by thoth.sbservices.com (8.7.5/8.7.3) with SMTP id PAA28409 for ; Tue, 21 Jan 1997 15:39:09 -0500 (EST) Received: by site2s1.sbservices.com with SMTP (Microsoft Exchange Server Internet Mail Connector Version 4.0.994.63) id <01BC07B1.0C194600@site2s1.sbservices.com>; Tue, 21 Jan 1997 15:37:45 -0500 Message-ID: From: "Michael O'Boyle - SSG" To: "'ports@FreeBSD.ORG'" Subject: xpm-3.4j.tar.gz Date: Tue, 21 Jan 1997 15:37:43 -0500 X-Mailer: Microsoft Exchange Server Internet Mail Connector Version 4.0.994.63 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-ports@FreeBSD.ORG X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk Hello, I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I'm no expect export, but what you probably should do is to unpack the tcl tarball somewhere, edit the expect Makefile to have --with-tclconfig=/usr/local/lib and --with-tclinclude pointing to wherever you extracted the tcl tarball. The descendants of MACSYMA (circa 1982) fall into two camps, viz., the commercialized Symbolics MACSYMA and its successor from Macsyma, Inc., and the versions released to National Energy Software Center at Argonne, Illinois, which are based on the "public" MIT source code for the DEC PDP-10 MACLisp system. The latter ones do not have the Symbolics enhancements, but they have been modified from time to time by several individuals or groups. One of these modifications is known as MAXIMA. It is a Common-Lisp based implementation informally maintained by Prof. W. Schelter at the University of Texas. MAXIMA is not public domain code. I think it would be really great to see something like this becoming an official `port'. This way, we don't need to bloat the base system with it, but yet would have a fine method to provide a good newuser template. The only concern i would have with this approach is that this port should only depend from other ports that are available in package form on the CD-ROM (so people without Internet access will be able to use it). I haven't looked whether this applies to the stuff presented by Jamie (though i'd assume it). What i imagine is that this should be available in package form itself, maybe with an installation script that will be run during the package installation. I found some problems about jp-a2ps. (1) I can't find jp-a2ps-1.39 in www.freebsd.org. I found from ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/incoming/jp-a2ps.1.39.tar.gz I think that incoming directory is in this one accoding to **18.2.5.2. Quick Porting** in FreeBSD handbook :-) * Submitting the port * * * ftp://ftp.FreeBSD.ORG/pub/FreeBSD/incoming/ (2) Makefile: CATEGORIES+= japanese print ~ I think that there is no need to append `+'. (3) pkg/PLIST a2ps is installed to a2ps.pl via Makefile. But pkg/PLIST was written as below. * bin/a2ps-j I can't make package :-<. Please check Makefile and PLIST. I would like to name jp-a2ps `a2ps-j' or only `a2ps'. Thank you --- Yoshiro MIHIRA Keio Univ. Japan
