The pre-patch target in the Makefile of the bochs port (ports/emulators/bochs) 
modifies the files 

ports/emulators/bochs/patches/patch-aa 

and

ports/emulators/bochs/pkg/MESSAGE

This seems pretty non standard to me. It is also very annoying if you
update your ports collection from CVS, since as soon as you have
installed bochs 'cvs update' will complain that these files are
modified.
