OK, I think I see the problem, from your mptable: I/O Ints: Type Polarity Trigger Bus ID IRQ APIC ID INT# INT conforms conforms 1 15 2 20 ^^ ^^ this is because of the 'special' handling of the 2nd IDE I mentioned earlier. I don't have time for the whole story now, it involves the PIIX3 design among other things. Bottom line is that the 2nd IDE uses ISA INT 15, APIC INT 20. BUT the ISA bus itself DOES NOT redirect IRQ15, so this mptable entry is ONLY relevant to the 2nd IDE controller! So I would describe the problem as a "deficiency" in the mptable specification and/or board design. I'm sure that I can figure a way to code around the problem, but for now another patch will get you going: ----------------------------------- cut -------------------------------------- i386/i386/mp_machdep.c: /* * Given a traditional ISA INT mask, return an APIC mask. */ u_int isa_apic_mask(u_int isa_mask) { int isa_irq; int apic_pin; + #if defined(SKIP_IRQ15_REDIRECT) + if (isa_mask == (1 << 15)) { + printf("skipping ISA IRQ15 redirect\n"); + return isa_mask; + } + #endif /* SKIP_IRQ15_REDIRECT */ ----------------------------------- cut -------------------------------------- remember to define SKIP_IRQ15_REDIRECT somewhere. let me know how it works. -- Steve Passe | powered by smp@csn.net | Symmetric MultiProcessor FreeBSD From owner-freebsd-smp Wed Jul 2 10:39:02 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) id KAA16476 for smp-outgoing; Wed, 2 Jul 1997 10:39:02 -0700 (PDT) Received: from Ilsa.StevesCafe.com (Ilsa.StevesCafe.com [205.168.119.129]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id KAA16471 for ; Wed, 2 Jul 1997 10:38:58 -0700 (PDT) Received: from Ilsa.StevesCafe.com (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by Ilsa.StevesCafe.com (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id LAA26959; Wed, 2 Jul 1997 11:38:46 -0600 (MDT) Message-Id: <199707021738.LAA26959@Ilsa.StevesCafe.com> X-Mailer: exmh version 2.0gamma 1/27/96 From: Steve Passe To: Lars Fredriksen cc: smp@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Recent (last two days) smp kernel is hanging for me In-reply-to: Your message of "Wed, 02 Jul 1997 12:32:00 CDT." <199707021732.MAA00438@fredriks-1.pr.mcs.net> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Date: Wed, 02 Jul 1997 11:38:46 -0600 Sender: owner-smp@freebsd.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk Lars, > Well, I got a chance to try it earlier than I thought. I'll add this patch as soon as I have time to clean it up and add as an option. -- Steve Passe | powered by smp@csn.net | Symmetric MultiProcessor FreeBSD From owner-freebsd-smp Thu Jul 3 08:29:47 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) id IAA15172 for smp-outgoing; Thu, 3 Jul 1997 08:29:47 -0700 (PDT) Received: from Ilsa.StevesCafe.com (Ilsa.StevesCafe.com [205.168.119.129]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id IAA15166 for ; Thu, 3 Jul 1997 08:29:45 -0700 (PDT) Received: from Ilsa.StevesCafe.com (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by Ilsa.StevesCafe.com (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id JAA01274; Thu, 3 Jul 1997 09:29:41 -0600 (MDT) Message-Id: <199707031529.JAA01274@Ilsa.StevesCafe.com> X-Mailer: exmh version 2.0gamma 1/27/96 From: Steve Passe To: vanmaren@fast.cs.utah.edu (Kevin Van Maren) cc: smp@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Recent (last two days) smp kernel is hanging for me In-reply-to: Your message of "Wed, 02 Jul 1997 11:44:41 MDT." <199707021744.LAA08742@fast.cs.utah.edu> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Date: Thu, 03 Jul 1997 09:29:40 -0600 Sender: owner-smp@freebsd.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk Hi, > Where is the latest mptable? I found .4 on the http pages. thanx for pointing this out. I found 2.0.8 on the primary page, not .4, so your mirror may be behind the times... Reguardless. I have updated it to the current 2.0.12. Everyone should be aware that the defacto source for the mptable program is now in the current source tree, and available in current as /usr/sbin/mptable. The version on the web page will usually lag the -current source. -- Steve Passe | powered by smp@csn.net | Symmetric MultiProcessor FreeBSD From owner-freebsd-smp Fri Jul 4 19:05:45 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) id TAA17423 for smp-outgoing; Fri, 4 Jul 1997 19:05:45 -0700 (PDT) Received: from Ilsa.StevesCafe.com (Ilsa.StevesCafe.com [205.168.119.129]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id TAA17418; Fri, 4 Jul 1997 19:05:42 -0700 (PDT) Received: from Ilsa.StevesCafe.com (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by Ilsa.StevesCafe.com (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id UAA06913; Fri, 4 Jul 1997 20:05:40 -0600 (MDT) Message-Id: <199707050205.UAA06913@Ilsa.StevesCafe.com> X-Mailer: exmh version 2.0gamma 1/27/96 From: Steve Passe To: hardware@freebsd.org cc: smp@freebsd.org Subject: POST card/NMI debugging Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Date: Fri, 04 Jul 1997 20:05:40 -0600 Sender: owner-smp@freebsd.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk Hi, I've finished building the remote POWER/RESET/NMI/POST-code hardware for debugging via POST codes & NMI breakout from "freezes", etc. details can be found here: http://www.freebsd.org/~fsmp/HomeAuto/postcode/postcode.html Its pretty raw, but I gotta run... let me know of any blaring problems. -- Steve Passe | powered by smp@csn.net | Symmetric MultiProcessor FreeBSD
