The ultimate goal is for me to be able to determine what applications and libraries currently distributed for FreeBSD use Tcl or Tk in some fashion, as well as somehow monitoring updates and new entries. From this info I hope to include FreeBSD porting info in the comp.lang.tcl software catalog. I had thought to build some sort of url into your search page and do the search in that fashion, then set up a script that runs a similar search on an ongoing basis. Before I began that effort though, I thought I would ask if there perhaps is a mailing list or software facility that is in place in the community that could serve as a source of info for this type of monitoring. I am not asking anyone there to do anything special for me - but before I write something offsite I thought I would see if there was already some useful facility for monitoring. Thanks. -- Larry W. The ports INDEX files (ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports-current/INDEX) contains exactly what you need. Each port is represented by a line, fields are delimited by colons (:). I don't recall exactly which field it is, but there is a field that lists port dependencies and you just need to check if tcl and/or tk are listed in that field. A small perl script would do the job. Keep in mind that the INDEX file on the ftp site is not updated very often, but if you have a copy of the whole ports collection, you can generate an up-to-date version by typing `make index' in the root directory of the ports tree. "release=current" refers to the compiled www tree, not the CVS repository containing the sources for it. So you can't specify any "tag". The general rule is that "release=cvs" means you can specify a "tag" and/or "date". Anything else means you cannot. John -- John Polstra jdp@polstra.com John D. Polstra & Co., Inc. However, if you are having some specific dificulties with 2.1.6 which you wanted 2.1.7 as a fix for, then Walnut Creek's support policy would also kick in at that point and entitle you to a free upgrade to whatever the currently shipping version is. Should this be the case, simply call Walnut Creek CDROM back, state your problem with 2.1.6 and ask for a *replacement* CD. That should do the trick.
