The first one shows an average of 32,582 hits a day. The second shows an average of 129,954 hits a day. The second one includes images. I get really irritated when people report hit-counts, implying *pages* viewed but neglect to weed out the images because, as you can see, images really inflate the numbers. Including images also seriously skew "browser share" stats against lynx. Viewing one page in lynx generates one hit (ignoring caching for the moment) while the same page may generate 10 or 15 hits for a graphical browser. Now, in the my-server-is-faster-than-yours wars, images stats are important. :) -john From owner-freebsd-www Thu Oct 9 10:15:14 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.7/8.8.7) id KAA13351 for www-outgoing; Thu, 9 Oct 1997 10:15:14 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-www) Received: from deliverator.io.com (root@deliverator.io.com [199.170.88.17]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.7/8.8.7) with ESMTP id KAA13340 for ; Thu, 9 Oct 1997 10:15:10 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from spcoltri@deliverator.io.com) Received: from mail.io.com (pentagon.io.com [199.170.88.5]) by deliverator.io.com (8.8.7/8.8.5) with ESMTP id MAA18511 for ; Thu, 9 Oct 1997 12:11:57 -0500 Message-Id: <199710091711.MAA18511@deliverator.io.com> From: Steve Coltrin To: www@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Broken links in http://www.freebsd.org/releases/snapshots.html X-Fnord-Count: 1 (including this one) Date: Thu, 09 Oct 1997 11:13:43 -0600 Sender: owner-freebsd-www@FreeBSD.ORG X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk Links beginning with "handbook/" should begin with "../handbook/" . -spc From owner-freebsd-www Thu Oct 9 21:38:55 1997 Return-Path: Received: (from root@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.7/8.8.7) id VAA22643 for www-outgoing; Thu, 9 Oct 1997 21:38:55 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-www) Received: from biggles.westlake.com (biggles.westlake.com [207.226.17.32]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.7/8.8.7) with ESMTP id VAA22628 for ; Thu, 9 Oct 1997 21:38:38 -0700 (PDT) (envelope-from jamie@westlake.com) Received: from westlake.com (jun.westlake.com [207.226.17.205]) by biggles.westlake.com (8.8.5/8.8.5) with ESMTP id AAA27145 for ; Fri, 10 Oct 1997 00:43:42 -0400 (EDT) Message-ID: <343DB1B2.F2BFECEE@westlake.com> Date: Fri, 10 Oct 1997 00:40:19 -0400 From: Jamie Flournoy X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.03 (Macintosh; I; PPC) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: www@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: We use FreeBSD Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-freebsd-www@FreeBSD.ORG X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk http://www.freebsd.org/cgallery.html We're not listed and we should be. A larger image; GIF, JPEG, or whatever, would be helpful. I recognize, and will follow all of the copyright requirements for using this image (yours and Marshall Kirk McKusick too!). First off, I really don't have any plans to sell/market this item. This would only be for my own use, which I believe should be acceptable use. I would contact all appropriate individuals about using this image prior to even giving it to friends. Any assistance that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
