Well I have managed to compile PSM on -CURRENT sometime around mid-October. I managed to even prepare an .xpi package that installed allright when I pressed the "Install PSM" button on the furnished HTML page. But it never worked. Now, there are a couple of possible points of failure involved, but one thing is sure: it never got as far as starting the mini http server in it. But I could not investigate further at that time and now Mozilla does not even work on -CURRENT (and as I hear on recent -STABLE) because the binary segfaults as soon as it starts. Note: I still have not seen an announcement telling that PSM is now built from the public sources, and until then we can just speculate because they use a different build procedure at Netscape involving tainted sources and the BSafe RSA toolkit. -- Regards: Szilveszter ADAM Szeged University Szeged Hungary To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-mozilla" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-mozilla Mon Dec 18 3: 4:13 2000 From owner-freebsd-mozilla@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 18 03:04:11 2000 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-mozilla@freebsd.org Received: from sol.cc.u-szeged.hu (sol.cc.u-szeged.hu [160.114.8.24]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C283F37B400 for ; Mon, 18 Dec 2000 03:04:10 -0800 (PST) Received: from petra.hos.u-szeged.hu by sol.cc.u-szeged.hu (8.9.3+Sun/SMI-SVR4) id MAA02905; Mon, 18 Dec 2000 12:04:09 +0100 (MET) Received: from sziszi by petra.hos.u-szeged.hu with local (Exim 3.12 #1 (Debian)) id 147y5Q-0002vO-00 for ; Mon, 18 Dec 2000 12:04:08 +0100 Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2000 12:04:08 +0100 From: Szilveszter Adam To: freebsd-mozilla@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Re: psm Message-ID: <20001218120408.B11033@petra.hos.u-szeged.hu> Mail-Followup-To: Szilveszter Adam , freebsd-mozilla@FreeBSD.ORG References: <200012121602.eBCG2M546178@nil.science-factory.com> <20001218054330.A7892@netmonger.net> <20001218120048.A11033@petra.hos.u-szeged.hu> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.2.5i In-Reply-To: <20001218120048.A11033@petra.hos.u-szeged.hu>; from sziszi@petra.hos.u-szeged.hu on Mon, Dec 18, 2000 at 12:00:48PM +0100 Sender: owner-freebsd-mozilla@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG Hello! Really? Hmm, I had a huge amount of trouble the time I built NSS/PSM (about a month ago, IIRC). Maybe the trouble was with the PSM part, I dunno. But after tons of futzing, I did get it to build, though it was not functional. I don't have any problems building and running Mozilla, though. But I'm not running a current -current, just PRE_SMPNG. As for the integration, I'm not aware of a formal announcement either, but there was a post on one of the newsgroups basically saying someone was working on it and expected check it in shortly. -- Christopher Masto Senior Network Monkey NetMonger Communications chris@netmonger.net info@netmonger.net http://www.netmonger.net Free yourself, free your machine, free the daemon -- http://www.freebsd.org/ To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-mozilla" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-mozilla Mon Dec 18 18:24: 4 2000 From owner-freebsd-mozilla@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Dec 18 18:24:01 2000 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-mozilla@freebsd.org Received: from postoffice.initiative.fr (unknown [195.115.11.115]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 33F2F37B400 for ; Mon, 18 Dec 2000 18:24:01 -0800 (PST) Received: from midgard2.initiative2 ([10.1.1.55]) by postoffice.initiative.fr (Post.Office MTA v3.5.3 release 223 ID# 35-61222U1000L100S0V35) with ESMTP id fr; Tue, 19 Dec 2000 01:52:31 +0000 Received: from hotmail.com (1Cust207.tnt1.canoga-park.ca.da.uu.net [63.22.174.207]) by midgard2.initiative2 (8.9.3/8.8.7) with SMTP id BAA14188; Tue, 19 Dec 2000 01:51:18 +0100 Subject: All new! - This Program lets you investigate Anyone or Anything! I ran mozilla with no problems after that. I've gone back to the official release now... I'm kinda scared to make changes! Interestingly, last night I updated the sources and did an optimized build. I no longer see an error with this, but where I'm having trouble now is that the optimizations have rendered text input as completely useless. I can see the text I've entered, but when I hit enter (after having typed in a URL) absolutely nothing happens. Or I made a small test e-mail, but when I hit the send button I get asked for a subject and destination even though I've already entered them. I set the level to -O2. Anyone know how to enable -pipe for gcc? I'll try anything to speed up compilation! ;-) Pete...
